I want to point out that I can only go by the information thats given to me when I ask questions, people might assume parts are shipped from china then assembled here, but unless you have proof theres no point in saying that, I asked where they were made and got an official response that the handles are made here in the US in Texas, Im pretty sure if any of you own a US made knife you didnt go watch it be made so you can only trust what the company told you about it...I have to do the same unless there is information saying otherwise...The logos on the handles are deeply cut into the handle so if they were made overseas they would have to have been done there too, unlike other chinese OTFs with laser engraved logos that could easily be added here before sales...

I love OTFs, ironically, for their safety. It is just so easy to retract that blade instantly in between cuts so that the cutting edge is only ever exposed when it is being used. No blades swinging open and closed. A microtech cypher MK7 is my favorite carry knife

I knew you'd have a video on these man. Since they repealed the auto ban for us I've been looking around at some autos and I miss the little microtech i used to have. These were recommended to me for a mid range otf. I don't care for the cheap ones under $50 and I can't afford to buy another high end one anymore. These seem nice enough and i liked to edc an otf for quick in and out utility cuts when I had one.

My local Scheels started carrying Cobratecs. I almost bought one but ended up seeing Bear and Son balisongs for $60 and couldn’t resist. They’re made in the US, have solid milled metal handles rather than the thin metal sandwich type construction like most budget balisongs, and are held together with torx screws rather than pins. Too good of a deal to pass up. Next time though, I’m snaggin me a Cobratec!

I received a larger model with a tanto blade as a gift, and in the paperwork it says "assembled in the USA" which leads me to believe the parts are made overseas. Doesn't bother me, but it's safe to assume they're assemble here in the US. BUT not made here. But the one I have seems to perform like real D2. So I cannot complain. Plus it was free!

Id say you cna enjoy the hobby way more if you dont get into the politics of things, if people only knew the half of what goes on they would probably stop buying knives all together but instead some people tend to take sides on things and make up their own mind as to whats ok and whats not ok...and thats ok lol enjoy knives however you want to, but the reason I got one of these knives to try was because so many people asked for it...I got one, used it and heres my opinions...I could have 1000 people ask me to review a cheap knife then 1000 people say stop reviewing cheap knives so I review an expensive knife and 1000 people tell me its too expensive, lol...

I recently got a black one of these for my birthday, I like it quite a bit. it did fail on open once though, but easily got back on track. Grind is a bit messy, but overall I think its pretty good. I do not EDC it though as it can be scary and ive got a "more reliable" knife that I like a bit better.
Edit: the thing failed again as I was playing with it this time on close.

I have 4 of their knives. 2 of their otfs, 2 of their folding push daggers. I had trouble with 2 otfs that were brand new from a local store and say this for cobratec, i sent the malfunctioning one in and they replaced it, same with a folding push dagger, one from their factory that didn't work and they replaced it. A smidge concerned that around half of brand new ones wouldn't lock, etc, and a tiny bit annoyed that they said they would reimburse for shipping but didn't.. but, for $150 or so, and their willingness to make it right by replacing bad ones.. considering wilcox tactical are $100 at least, and poorer quality, and non existent customer service...
Cobratec is a good answer. Get one, you've got 50 50 odds of getting a good one right out of the box and if it isn't, they're in Texas and you can easily return it and so far in my experience they'll replace it .

just being honest here but..John Wick sold me on the Auto blades, then i bought a Helly Tec, and im pretty sure it was stolen out of my house, unless i actually lost it but i was in love with that Helly Tec Hellion and i bought it at a local gun and knife show, and that vendor have never returned and never had a chance to replace it. its in the same weight class as the cobratec, good quality for 90-170 dollars. so it looks like ill be buying myself a cobratec in the next few days in hopes it will be able to fill the shoes of my beloved Helly Tec Hellion until i can find another one.

I bought a Cobratec new for $60, my first OTF. I am very satisfied with the knife, seems well made and functions flawlessly. But as you have alluded to, the "made in the US" claim is a bit of a stretch. Assembled in the US? Yes.

P.S. that box it comes in is the very same that one of the more popular Chinese "survival" kits from Amazon comes in. My grandfather sent me one and that box is identical, down to the same foam inserts. Just a weird little thing I noted.

I have bought 3 Cobra-tec off's in the last year and a half. First one was their medium size, second was their small model, like the one you have here, but both of mine are the lower end models, and the last one was the medium FS-X. The later is definitely a step up from the lower end models. That being said, I have not had a single Issue with any of the three. I've played with them like you were doing in this video, over and over, and never had a failure to release or retract. The only time I've ever had an issue is with the medium size models where I have gotten a dime that was in my pocket change get into the opening. My last 2 were both D2, the first one was I believe 440. I bought all of mine from a Friend who has a gun shop, and he sells a ton of these, and told me he has not had a single one ever come back. He also sells Microtech, but obviously doesn't sell a fraction of those compared to these. Even with the discount I could get, I'm not paying 100 dollars more for a MT.... I have Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson, and other big names, but a Cobratec is the knife I depend on EVERY Day.....

All that matters is the quality since circumventing the laws on the subject is real easy and you'd be surprised the kind of companies that do that.

finally a review for this knife... i wanted to buy a MT but could not have the heart to drop that money on a shitty warranty for the price. MT has a bad wrap. So ive owned cheap atomics and lightning. also bought a UTX and UTX 85 clone on wish, both broke within days. so i dont see how MT design would be any better with high end materials. these knives come from same place as atomic defender off of grindworx. cobratec is like no limit knives. All parts hardware made in china, put together in US. So Cobratec so far is GOOD TO GO. they are slimmer than a MT. the small fsx is the 70. Blade is 100% china D2 and holds and edge well. had my purple fsx small for 4 months beat it to hell. NEVER MISFIRED YET!!!love this knife! going to go for the tanto black. ALSO your knife should of came with a driver to unscrew it, well mine did but no warranty card. ALSO if your knife breaks you SEND IT DIRECTLY to CT and they send it back none of that Leo or mil proof BS. And i bet you MT is lying on their shit being all made in house and US. i bet you their standard MT non customs are shipped in. FYI. MT ALSO is the only knife company to get a COVID RELIEF LOAN from the US i think it was around a million. so if they are doing so good with those prices and over the top CS then why take money, unless you suck. for my 2 cents get a fsx or lightweight series, the other mods are just marked up atomic defender knives. Ty for the honest review!👍👍👍
