I'm afraid you don't really want me to come home. Whenever you come see me, I can tell how hard it is on you... I don't know if you hate me or pity me... Or maybe I just disgust you... I'm sorry about that. When I first learned that I was going to die, I just didn't want to accept it. I was so angry all the time and I struck out at everyone I loved most. Especially you, James. I seen Akira Yamaoka live and he is definitely a metal head. Going from his Silent Hill to his more-modern Contra soundtracks, I am not surprised that this song can be made into metal!
To be honest, I never expected anyone to take one of the most somber songs in all of gaming history and make an Epic Metal cover of it. However, as always, this cover is expertly done, and is amazing in it's own right. Keep up the good work, man!

This song hits me right in the feels. I think the "promise" in this song is Jame's marriage with his wife "until death do us part". I've never had a girlfriend, and I'm kind of bitter, and my parents marriage has become rocky lately. I want to believe in love but I just can't. I feel like it's just all about looks, because you can't love someone based on who they are if you're not sexually attracted to them. It's like the "promise" means nothing. It's supposed to be forever-until you DIE. People don't treat it like that, and it's a damn lie. It's not supposed to end because you're bored, or things get rough. You swore to be with this person FOREVER. If you didn't think so, you shouldn't brought the damn priest in to begin with. I don't care if it's childish or unreasonable to expect you to be attracted to the same person forever, and you've "grown apart" or whatever nonsense. Without a promise, you're no different than an animal looking for it's next mate. Just a shallow creature propelled by survival instinct.
Honestly while I know this was intended to be connected to mainly James the use in the remake twists the title and idea a little we all make promises to everyone even ourselves Angela's promise to find her mother and find peace Eddie's promise to protect himself even if he's the real danger Laura's promise to Mary that she'd give James a chance and finally James promise to love Mary for better or worse all that except Laura for the most part are flawed broken promises that can NEVER be fulfilled no matter how much they struggle to follow through with it.
Geez, you need therapy, man. In relationships there are 2 people involved, and if even one of the parties isn't putting in the work it is doomed to fail. Yes, one should try to salvage, but sometimes there isn't anything left. Better to accept that it isn't working out than to foolishly cling to some fantasy of how it should be. The unspoken part of the vow is "as long as you fulfill your part of the deal and don't become a p.o.s.". Most people change over the course of their lives and sometimes you realize the person you're with isn't the person you've fallen in love with all those years ago anymore.
SH2 is one of my favourite games, and in my opinion it's the best Silent Hill game, maybe the best horror game ever made... one of the few games that can legitimately be called flawless. This cover is fucking amazing.
