It is so beautiful to me to watch you both discuss some of the most painful points of your marriage and still sit in honesty, love and support of one another. And you both are able to laugh a little at some things. I love and respect the work you are both doing! This is God! This is marriage! Continued blessings to you both.

Hearing Yvette say her takeaway was "Rest and remain in the presence of the Lord and allow Him to do the rest" almost brought me to tears. Losing my brother in a car accident in addition to other things in life brought me to getting therapy. It feels like that statement was confirmation of something my therapist similarity said to me. I love the transparency of this podcast. It definitely has added value to my life. It encourages me as a single to do the self-work.

Evette The scripture is Psalm 42. I have always loved that psalm. I am going through my own very difficult situation with my health. And when you referred to the fact that when you quieted and you finally heard the Lord tell you he has always been with you, that is exactly what I have experienced the last couple days. And that he is strong in my weakness. And his ways are higher Ways That teach me to trust him. I was in tears and so grateful to listen to this beautiful episode tonight. I have been married 46 years and believe it or not as wonderful as my marriage is And my husband is, we still need to work on ourselves and our relationship. So thank you for your words of encouragement.

They way Yvette just talked about God was always there, but our noise made his voice unheard! Ugh I’m bawling like a dang cow right now! So so true. When I lost my stepson I raised from 8 to 18, a day and a half after my husband lost his leg I felt so so lost. I was broken broken!!!! Never have I felt more alone and trying to not act broken for my little boys plus I felt I couldn’t be as sad as my husband. But this message hit me hard today. I’ve felt defeated for a long time. This really helped.

This is such a relevant topic... marriage requires a great deal of "self-work" in order to build/maintain unity with your spouse (something we can easily overlook). Furthermore, the heart/mind are intangible and perhaps require even MORE attention and care than physical health alone (although the two are very much intertwined). My wife and I have been in counseling recently and The Lord has really shown us and helped us a lot through it. Doing the "deep work" can be uncomfortable, but it pays HUGE dividends in the long run. (Psalm 139:23-24)... SO appreciative of you all for sharing your journey with us... and big props to Yvette for choosing to take a social media hiatus for the moment 👊 (... sometimes it's what you gotta do! 😊).
    Much love to you both!

This is EVERYTHING !!! Thank you for your continuous obedience and vulnerability. This episode gives permission and sends a resounding call for many to DROP EVERYTHING and DO THE WORK.
This is what love looks like. The way you all sacrafice and give so purly of yourselves (in a raw emotionally sensative yet logical goal oriented communicative way) is unequivically a reflection of Abba Yah’s pressence in your hearts, marriage, family and home. Y’all paint a beautiful picture of “trying” by simply “doing” the best you can. And it’s worth something... it’s worth everything for a community of people who haven’t been given an example of conflict resolution, a place to go in with their feelings and so much more. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you heavenly Father for this example. 🙏🏿
My prayer is that no matter how pressed one may be in the process of life and circumstances that they may lean in to allow the pressure to refine them.
    This made my day!
    - Sarah

Sister Yvette, I am PROFOUNDLY grateful to you for this episode. I highly revere the way you guarded what you needed to while laying out a roadmap and a personal account of what this time was like for you. Hearing you mention little Yvette, I also understand better the concept of the wounded, childhood self who is waiting to be seen and spoken to about certain things. I get that. I also am having a lightbulb moment with you referring through this to the walls, not for guarding yourself but just to be able to plain operate/function. Yes.
I am blessed in my heart to know that you have made it through and are growing and thriving. The habits you are working to break, even when you do it then immediately realize it, is so HUGE! I can relate to that kind of work. I'm so happy for you! (And I will be circling over to the homeschool vid, for sure!)
Brother Beleaf, your body language in this video was very reflective of your words and what you weren't saying with them. It was easy to see you still reliving it a little while Yvette was mainly retelling. Hope if you need to do any follow-up sessions about any lingering feelings that you do. That was a lot on you, too. I hear that. I also really appreciate you speaking about how the man who FaceTimed and you told you Yvette had been operating on a far less degree than her 100%-that part gives me more to consider in myself.
Delayed grief. Woo, yes. I'm still waiting to grieve properly on some major losses due to lots of ongoing factors.
I am also curious on what you have done with Yvette's "requests/demands". Her going to this thing, to an outsider, was her "doing" and she started the ball rolling. Was that hard to recognize? I am curious, without asking too much, what this part has been like-the responsive work on your end.
Just a little side thought: Sister Yvette, the therapist not wanting you in hymns and the Word in weekends/just "in the presence"? Struck me like maybe he might have wanted a little "The Shack" happening where the Trinity appears to you in the flesh... Kind of. Seems more to me that *God* *put* that hymnal there *for* *you* via the person who left it. I've been doing deep work with God on His timing and it has also involved a random hymnal where I spent a whole day (nearly) letting my kids hang at their grandparents' while I sang, processed, journaled, and went through a lot. God knew He had a higher plan than the therapist for that weekend and that's ok. I'm a huge proponent for "Jesus+Therapy" but I always bear in mind that Jesus trumps the best of intentions in the best of us, at the end of the day.

17:09 I feel this 😭 I’ve been a functioning addict (nothing hardcore) for half my life (15 yrs). I yearn for the chance to take at least a week or two off to focus on my sobriety and mental health. I have a therapist and have been able to wean myself to only partake on the weekends but I feel so powerless. And the withdrawal symptoms and stress makes me a irritable mom🥺😭 I feel like I’ve given it all to God but those moments where I’m weak I fumble , every time. 😮‍💨 although I feel like I’ve processed the death of my daughter in the most efficient way; the feelings were filtered through smoking/drinking. Now I’m overwhelmed with the full sensation of her loss and how it affects her sisters. I just be like I can not do this.
