Great video. Very informative on the power generation circuit. Glad to see you get some cool new gear to test out. That thermal camera should be very useful for future repairs.
The manual focussing is a feature, not a bug. Most of these small phone-mounted cameras are not autofocus (in fact I'm not sure autofocus exists at all in the world of thermal cameras) - they're fixed focus. This works fine for distant objects as with a cheap film camera but if you want to focus on something close like a PCB you're stuck. A workaround is a supplemental macro lens but that's a bit of a faff and forces you to focus by moving the camera. It seems odd that topdon advertise it as having a longer range (most are optimum at 5m) but it's actually closeup that's really interesting. What about the chunky block that was also in the case ? Is that a mounting bracket ?
I use the thermal imaging camera on my CAT S62 Pro smartphone (picked up cheap from eBay). It has a FLIR Lepton 3.5 sensor, and with its resolution of 160x120px it's still considered very good. For once the "HD" claim on an off brand Chinese camera appears to actually be valid! The temperature graph feature is very handy, but a pain you need to focus the camera and disappointing it doesn't come with a calibrated visible light camera for overlays and edge enhancement. Would be cool if you could strap it to a webcam and mount it over your workbench for a static and finely calibrated setup.
@@HappyLittleDiodes Yeah, I'm surprised there aren't more on market; I imagine a flagship phone with that feature would be very popular. If I enable power saving and switch off all the radios, the phone will stay in standby for over a month before the battery runs out. It's astounding how efficient Android is without background apps constantly sipping away at the power.
Can it find water leak? I have plumbing problem in bathroom, drain pipe is under concrete and tile floor and water pipe is inside brick wall.... Also advice if it can detect animal inside car or van that is invisible to human.
Three hundred and thirty squids!? _OUCH!_ I recently bought an excellent bass guitar (the Ibanez SR300EB-WK) for less than that although admittedly, it wouldn't be much use as a diagnostic tool, but it is approximately seven and three quarter million times more funky.
@@HappyLittleDiodes Strandberg are lovely -instruments- works of art it's true - but I can't be doing with all that fiddly tuning that headless instruments rely upon... Besides, when it comes to six stringed instruments, I'm something of an abuser and need a lump of wood to stop my hand flying off the end and disabling the drummer! (Also, can't hang a headless on the wall and WOW the ladies with it!)
I measured a 2 ULA with an Arduino temp sensor and got 44 degrees. It does not contact properly to get a good reading. When you put your finger on it, it burns so I knew it was hotter. I got 10 degrees cooler with a home made heatsink on it. Only .7mm of copper plate can be used with the old rubber keyboard. I`m sad enough to had measured it with coins. :)
@@HappyLittleDiodes you said let’s unbox this that implies you are unboxing it with us. If that was not you intention that ignore me. Keep making the great videos
@brianwild4640 I think I only said that because the video includes footage of the first time I opened the box and everything that was inside. But no I didn't record myself speaking while doing it which I'll bear in mind.
Well, I never thought I would see somebody critiquing a simple unboxing video but here I am - despairing at the absolute state of _some_ humans - _again!_
256 x 192!. Custom-designed for working on Spectrums! 😉
Very cool!

Yeah if your phone is smaller than mine you can mount the camera on the back of your phone and use the cable to attach it.
Excellent review and work. Would love one but too expensive for my pocket book. Enjoy!
Cheers!

A phone with a built in thermal cam! That's great

Add my name to the waiting list of people wanting a borrow 😎👍
I'll bring it to the next meet

It will show you the temperature of the surface of the concrete/tile, or the surface of the van, so I don't think so in this case

Ibanez was always my choice before I got into strandberg. I would love a bass though

Ten degrees ain't bad!
Get some Max Headroom images going with that 3d setting. Excellent product analysis and review!
Hahaha brilliant. Cheers buddy
Cool!
Or warm!
Ha! Compared to my InfiRay P2 Pro that thing is HUGE... lol You'll definitely find that useful, though.
How much
£280 at the moment as far as I can see

1 tip don’t call it an unboxing when you have clearly had it out and looked at it other than that love your videos
I don't follow. I narrate the videos after filming
