Thanks PCBWay for sponsoring this video - pcbway.com/g/RNs69K - Use this link for $5 new user free credit. Very interesting fault. Well diagnosed!
I'm new to KiCAD - are there Gerber files available for this?
He doesn't provide the gerber files, only the kicad projects so you can generate your own using KICAD, to the specific requirements of the manufacturer you want to use (I think Kicad has pre-configured settings for bigger manufacturers?). Pop in to the discord if you like, some members have generated gerbers they can share with you
Use a flux paste. You don’t have to hold the components while you solder them. Once you get the hang of it it’s far quicker than through hole. You can place several components at a time.
I want some, but have loads of flux pens to get through and don't want to waste them
I'm gonna go back & watch from the beginning now 😊 👀
Why is this video called part 6 ? In the playlist there's only 5 videos
I might have messed up the playlist, I'll have a look today
Use flux. Soldering works exponentially better with flux.
Flux has improved my life a lot since making this video
Enjoyed the video very much, although I kept yelling "too much solder paste!" at my computer screen. I had to learn that in the same way, too! What is everyone using for the probes? Any working better than others? I'm about to spring for the latest 6.0 version pcb (I already have a pico 2 in hand!) & start the project.
I'm pretty sure that the User definable characters should get mangled when you switch. And what about the stack, isn't it stored in the upper RAM? Hands off to you for this video!
The stack is an issue, the next video is for a mod which seems to address this
Getting pretty good with that solder paste 👍 How come you didn't feature on Lee's Befriending event this past weekend? Was hoping to see you at some point.
I've been a bit out of the loop with building work going on at home, but yes I should get more involved!
🙂↕️
🐈
What capacitors did you use for C11, C12, C14, C15? On schema they are polarized, but in BOM those are listed as 0805 format.
Nice video, you're looking much more confident with the SMD parts, thanks for sharing your progress - I would have been waay to shy to show my early SMD attempts on the internets!
MOSI Master Out Slave In connects to TX on pico MiSO Master In Slave Out connects to RX on pico. Think i would use an example SD card sketch to test that its working. According to the pinout, sd card CS to pin 5, MISO pin 4 MOSI pin 3 CLK to pin2.
Great video. Got myself a Pi Pico and looking forward to running it as a ZX-Spectrum.
Let us know how it goes!
Loving this. I really like the option of surface and through hole components. I would love a spare board. I am in the UK. have messaged you on Discord.
Thanks for the video! Where did you find the documentation for how to set jumpers? Building the board wasn't too hard, but I have no idea which jumpers to bridge.
money doesn't stink
I don't know what this phrase means but thanks for your firmware I've been trying that too
@@HappyLittleDiodes wow, it is cool hear, thanks
@fastbeta great work
Very cool project!! Thanks for sharing
Looks an interesting project, although the smd components put me off.

Good afternoon. This board is a testing ground for different chips and unfortunately CS4344 or CS4334 was not supported in firmware. We settled on TDA1387 or PCM5102A. Also, my firmware can be controlled completely with a joystick from the on-screen keyboard - the second item in the main menu. Where can I send the documentation translated into English?
I see you've shared it with the discord, thanks
if you want you can make adapter from this dendy socket to nes socket. all signals are same, only connectors are different
Good to know!
Nice emulator... ❤ The video.. not going to ask for the board though.. the shipping is exorbitant.. bye
@@maltronik will be the cost of a first class stamp if you're in the uk
@@HappyLittleDiodes thanks for the offer 😊
Awesome job! It looks fantastic! Couldn't find your email (must be bad at searching) so asking for a board this way. -Cheers, mate!

Great video very informative and entertaining
Any chance you could do a video showing “Desoldering by mind power alone.”? I know it would save me many painful hours and burnt fingers. 😂
I'll see what I can do! 🔮
What paste are you using?
Chipquik SMD291AXT4
I have the Saleae Logic Pro 8. I tried one of those cheap ones like what you first showed. I found it to be useless. Probably because it wasn't fast enough for my signal, but I can't remember now. The software for the Saleae is great. My only complaint is i didn't get the Logic Pro 16, although I really haven't needed more than 8 channels yet. I'm sure the day will come when I will.
The cheap one is good for ZX Spectrum speeds, but it doesn't default to the fastest sampling rate which I didn't realise until the second time I tried it
Is there a complete kit with part ? for some apparent reason I keep see the plain boards .
No you'll need to source the parts yourself
Hi dude, not seen you in a while. I`m just working on using an Arduino as a voltage sensor on ZX Spectrum so if they go out of spec an alarm will sound to protect the board. I have the 12 volt and 5 volt sensors sorted but can not find the minus voltage shield to measure the -5 volt rail. I did see it on UTube somewhere. Anyway. hope you ok and not picking up too much static off your moustache. :)
Could you just reverse the polarity when you hook up the minus 5? (Only half joking, I don't know)
Yep my desk look horrible
Cool gadget, but about $200 more than I'd past for one sadly.
I want to buy this specifically to see where my cat was sleeping 5 minutes ago. She's not supposed to be on my bed...I've told her this several times now.
My cat tends to leave a circular imprint
Hi can this see hot water pipes running behind a plaster board (drywall) wall?
I can see mine, yes. There's a link in the description that I think applies a discount if you want one
Damn it, you’re making me rethink my need for a thermal imaging camera. I want that gadget :) Would a temperature sensor on the inside of a block of insulating foam be a good way to measure heat loss?
Good question, I'm no expert but I think that knowing the temperature on the inside and outside of your insulation would be a good indicator of its performance. If you decide to get one there's a link in the description that I think applies a discount (it seems to for me)
Considering the price! p2 is very good tech! Already in my shopping bag!
Use the link in the description if you can ;)
thats quite interesting! have some interest to get one for trying
Use the link in the description ;)
Lovely!

@5:32 I feel like having the ability to highlight the hottest or coldest area on the image is such a useful feature to have for troubleshooting electronics, I hope Thermal Master can add it in with an app update or something in the future.
It seems like an easy addition to make yes

Thanks that's nice to hear
Was a pretty nice solder job, until you forgot to add more flux when reflowing with solder iron.. the end joint on level converters is shitty. Nice project tho - will try to mill the pcb as I already have all other components.
Still learning ;)
Cool visual bri
nice - I bet if you run it at half speed it will look like a lava bath. Drop some ice cubes in there just for fun too.
Interface works very well. Smart, simple, easy and free. Set up into a rp2040 of two bucks (maybe less at chinese webstores sales). Up to upgrade when rp2 bugs fixed and improving. I2c protocols and SPI performerd like a charm. Nothing to say but thank you.
Really if you tests 40 years old capacitors in capacitance and ESR, you can see all are correct. The better things have a ZX Spectrum I think was the capacitors. It's not necessary remplace in general any one.
