This month I am dedicating videos each week to the principles of getting to know your horse when developing, educating, or taming.
I will be selecting one major perspective each week, focusing on what’s important to our horse’s confidence as a learner while we create positive learning experiences.
For today’s video “Training Success in 5-minutes or Less” and our first principle, our “training” will focus on the first building block to getting to know your horse: learning how to be mindful of how they feel about what you are doing.
We all want to learn how to read horses and understand who they are and why they do what they do. This is paramount to training and how we begin creating connection, relationship, and trust in our horses.
As the late and great Tom Dorrance said: “You can’t teach feel you have to experience it.”
Feeling of and for our horses is important to creating the mindset, attitude and empathy needed to connect with them.
When a horse feels understood, they drop their defenses and open, allowing us to really get to know who they are in their heart, how they think and behave.
Learning this way of Being and working with horses is magical and where we open the door to all possibilities.
I’d also like to leave you with this mantra “Make every moment with your horse purposeful and teachable.”
If you would like to learn how to develop your horse holistically and classically, I offer a step-by-step guide in both my Spirituality of Horsemanship Course and MasteryMembership Riding Foundation Program. Please click here for details www.taoofhorsemanship.com.
