I had an Uncle in Cheery NJ that loved VW’s. It rubbed off on me for sure. My first ride was in his Type 3 fastback that was his work vehicle and it was the same as yours. He also had a 411 that was also very interesting. Thanks for the memories!
Nice ! In the late 1980s i had a 68 sunroof fastback 4sp. Loved that car and drove is daily for a couple of years... it was tan but someone before me painted it a strange kind of mustard lite brown lol.. and it was well faded when i had it... but yes the type 3s drive nice... i also had a 72 squareback later on... great cars
Hi Randy, I’m really glad to see you posting again. I know it’s easy to get burnt out doing what you do especially when you try and film and put good Contant out there about things that interest you and you enjoy, hoping that other people will enjoy them to and we do. I know people in the comment section can be a little harsh and mean. That is not to say that I have not also made a criticism or two about your videos, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t like them and you or what you do. My biggest concern which is so trivial in my area but not in yours is that you don’t have a spray nozzle on your garden hose. I know it seems stupid but it really does save a shit load of water. I figured that would be high on your agenda living in a drought stricken area. Even though we are seldom in a drought here in New England, we never waste water. We are all super conservative with it. You are a great guy and I love your content. Please keep posting not only for yourself, but for all of us that really do enjoy you. I know some people criticize out of ignorance and sometimes criticism is unjust and sometimes criticism just needs to be heard. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true or right but that’s the way it is. Anyway, love you content please keep posting, you are a very impressive guy that has had a tremendous amount of success and I do not believe you get the recognition you deserve. With that being said, I want to see you getting your hands dirty more I wanna see you doing more of the repairs and not leaving it to Sebastian. I know you have more abilities than just making things pretty. I know you can get in there and make things work and get the job done. I think all of your fans like me would love to see you doing more of that. Anyway, I hope you and your family and friends have a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year. Keep posting and just say fuck the stupid assholes like me that make comments like this. Best of luck to you and all of yours in the new year
Hey Randy. Been following you for a while, and always enjoy your stuff. This is not directly related to this car or the fire truck, or really even to the kiddieland trucks, but a few years ago I happened to get some inter-office VWoA documents, just dug out one regarding VW fire trucks and thought of you. It’s from July 1961, discussing how it was introduced in Cologne a few weeks prior and give they ordered one for a press event they wanted more info from wolfsburg. Signed by J Stewart Perkins…pretty cool. I’ve a few others as well, discussing the double cab, and how to shut down rumours about what became the type 3. I’ll email copies if you like.
Even though that car has been repainted, I believe that car is museum quality. It might not be concourse, but it is certainly museum quality with a little elbow grease he could get to concourse no problem.
That’s a beautiful car. I had a 70 in Cobalt Blue for a couple years back about 15 years ago. They are great cars. I feel only the Karmann Ghia is a more beautiful VW design.
Hi Randy it was very nice to see you again, and yes you have found a very nice Volkswagen 1600.👍
You are very fortunate to have got the Type 3 in such amazing condition. Well done.
That's beautiful Randy ❤

I’m happy to finally see a video of this one. Super nice dash by the way. I’m restoring a Diamond Blue 68 Squareback myself.
Sweet ride . Worked on them back in the day at a VW/Volvo/Rolls Royce dealer in NOLA .
