Yea og casted actors who didn't sound terrible (except for Ryan, he's a pretty professional musical theatre performer), I mean Troy's singing voice is only half zac efron. the series seems like they casted young up and coming singers/ musical theatre actors? Gotta keep in mind the talent pool to pick from back then for the og movie was probably smaller. The first one was a home DVD so I guess not that many serious singers threw themselves to audition. For the series, hsm was a well-known IP, its Disney and lot of talent people wanted to be involved.
2006 high school musical. The new one, they attempted. Maybe the fact it was Live, the singing conditions changed. Also Olivia voice is very beautiful, they didnt do her justice.
But they aren’t judging them or saying which one is better or worse, they’re just showing the two of them next to each other and the differences, it’s not really unfair

Sorry, don´t mean to offend, just thinking about how much dancing and jumping around, flips and things like that they did and wondering if it would be realistic for the singing to sound like that. They could have just recorded the singing to sound more natural, without autotune and effects to make it sound live.

Original has more life in it. They're better actors, dancers, performers. Also some of them can actually sing. People think they can't sing because Zac is not a singer, but some of the casts are great singers, they just tend to judge their singing skills because of Zac. Their teamwork is unbeatable. Chemistry between cast is better. There is something more unique on them. I love Drew Seeley's voice though with Vanessa more Though in Hsmtmts, Joshua is a great singer. And they sang it without autotune, thats why some people love it more. It feels like more real
HSM actors were more talented at dancing and acting and they sang more lively and more like they were in a musical, but HSMTMTS were better at singing and they sang like regular singers nowadays

That's because in HSM they're doing two different melodies, in HSMTMTS they're both doing the melody, that's why it sounds a lot more simple and "basic"
The original HSM will forever be superior! It was a huge phenomenon that allowed other disney musicals to be made! It's cute that they tried to continue on with the HSM brand but the show doesn't do the OG movies justice.

I love hsm, it's a classic, but personally I think that hsmtmts is better in several ways. The acting, singing, plot and chemistry where all flawless. And I think it's one of the few Disney series/movies' that showcased teenage drama and real life problems a lot of people deal with.

And Ricky goes through troubles with his parents divorce which also a lot of kids experience now. And Gina experiences having to move which also kids can relate too.

HMS is corny, cheesy, and overacted at times and its a classic. It certainly isn’t above criticism. Give the new kids some credit.
