In a Sunday clash at Old Trafford, Manchester United faced Tottenham Hotspur, twice relinquishing one-goal advantages to settle for a 2-2 draw. The outcome proved disappointing for Erik ten Hag's squad, striving to ascend the Premier League standings.
Scoring for Spurs, Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur ensured the match ended in a stalemate. Despite the draw, Tottenham retains the fifth spot in the table, tied with fourth-placed Arsenal at 40 points but having played an additional game. Manchester United moved up to seventh place but trails eight points behind the top four.
United initiated the game with a dynamic start, courtesy of Rasmus Hojlund's third-minute goal. The 20-year-old found the net for the second consecutive home game, unleashing a powerful left-footed shot into the top corner. Richarlison seized an opportunity from the home side's lax marking, heading in the equalizer from a corner in the 19th minute.
Just before halftime, Marcus Rashford orchestrated a swift one-two with Hojlund, reclaiming the lead for United with his fourth goal of the season. However, the joy was short-lived as Bentancur swiftly responded less than a minute into the second half, converting a pass from debutant Timo Werner and beating goalkeeper Andre Onana.
