I recharge the batteries once a year. I usually turn off the music and animation because after a while you get annoyed listening to same tunes over and over. Even though the unit comes with 6 different Broadway musical tunes. My guess is... If you set this unit to play music and animation, you might need to change the batteries every 3 months?In Japan they have the same model RE556B but including second hand on the dial. This American retail version only has hour and minute hands on the dial. Hope this help my friend. 😊
