***** I actually prefer a lot about Stainless Steel and I really like to watch Third Age but Medieval 2 is the finest vanilla Total War game ever released. More historically accurate than Rome 1 was and almost flawless fucking mechanics. That and I like it because Medieval 2 was the title I cut my teeth on and fell in love with Total War.
Ted Brasy I wouldn't call the mechanics almost flawless. They work pretty well, except in sieges -I can't help getting annoyed when soldiers freeze while climbing ladders or when I order my missiles to attack a unit and they're still running at them when they're well in range, or when the units just don't skirmish at all.
That and by mechanics I meant more on a macro level.. yes, there are of course bugs and pathfinding and AI are always wonky to some degree in just about any damn game. But so much of it works that those flaws seem very trivial to me and in no way hinder my overall opinion of the game. Every Total War game since MTW2 should've just used everything from that game and added further layers of complexity or upgraded existing features. Instead, they tried to reinvent the wheel and ended up with a shinier one, covered in patches and still leaking air.
DavidtheDuke Yep, I feel the same way. On the one hand I have the hope that Games Workshop will insist that CA really do justice to the Warhammer world and insist it have a better release than Rome 2, but on the other hand I am terrified both companies are colluding in a devious plot to rush out a DLC-machine game. That said, I would gladly pay over and over for quality DLC for a Warhammer title if the game is great from launch and the DLC content was unique (not copy-and-paste units and factions) and substantial. It shouldn't be an issue considering how huge and diverse the Warhammer world is. Guess we'll see if they serve us (their potentially huge loyal fanbase) or the Ruinous Powers of Chaos..
23:26 "And that's the end of this campaign" LOL It's good you took out Milan early on in the game. Those backstabbing bastards were always a nuisance in every campaign I played in Italy, France, or Germany.
That's so strange because as Venice I made Sicily my staunch allies until the end of my game on VH/VH, as I recall they were the one of the last factions I wiped out, I just let them have southern Italy for ages.
They are the worst faction ever. Seems like no matter what faction I play in Europe somehow I go to war with them for some reason. Milan is just...Milan.
Dude i was just drinking water and sprayed all over my pc when this happened. Advisor : "The battle is slippng away from us. We must act!" Legend : "Shut the f*ck up." You are the best :P
pilepeen I got plenty more to provide to this wonderful, toxic community we live in. Whatever provokes the most stupidity I shall create context to spark it. I love the chaos.
7:33 "I don't wanna go to war with so many catholic factions, or els the pope will go apeshit on me" The same guy who said "fuck the pope I don't care about the pope, I'll show him who's boss"
It's the most boring way to play M2TW. AI is already too weak and you don't give it any chance. This way you will see nothing but shitty units on the battlefield.
You mentioned that the very first faction you played with was HRE, well for myself, it was Spain as I recall, I was impressed with the new princess and merchants and pope system in comparison with Rome I, I remember that I first started playing this game in 2007, a whole year after when it was released, because my old crap computer couldn't Handel it until I got a new one... Yea This is my favorite Total war game too, Too much memories :) P.S.: ironically, although I have been playing this game for 9 years now but I have never tried to play as the HRE !!!
Last Pharaoh My story of Total War addiction began just like yours (upgraded to a new cpu just to play it.) The only difference was my first empire was Sicily. Such memories.
+Last Pharaoh (TheLastPharaoh) But the senate you can compleatly ignore and semi surround the other roman families so you can strike them quickly in a massive shock attack and they have shit all
For anyone watching this 9 years later, you can avoid excommunication in a situation like this by not assaulting. You can leave the siege up and starve them out. You only get excommunicated for *new* hostile actions.
I like to put my spearmen in the flanks and put crossbows in middle. Or vice versa. Then you make a FUCKIN SPEAR SANDWHICH AND SHOOT THE ENEMY WITH BOLTS. Friendly fire does not matter. As the good old king Longshanks said: "we'll also hit the enemy..."
This is not really tangential in any way to this video but I cannot wait to see you do some Total War Warhammer campaigns. I can already see you slaughtering your enemies forces with an Orcs & Goblins army or Chaos Warriors of Khorne. That is assuming that the new game will not repeat the mistakes of the last two titles, which may be asking a lot..
Ted Brasy Fuck that man Sigmar and the Empire for the win i want my massed ranks of muskets and cannons xD oh and Bright wizards or all of the wizards they could be like agents and move by themselves on the map but can be attached to an army and be in a battle.
adam pitlik Oh don't get me wrong, those aren't the two factions that I prefer myself.. their attitude of constant warfare and killing is right up Legend's alley, though. As for me, lore-wise I favor the Empire but I also very much like the Dark Elves. The Ogre Kingdoms next. If I become warped by the forces of Chaos I'd have to serve Tzeentch, though.
adam pitlik Oh, and I forgot all about Kislev. The vanguard against the forces of Chaos and just all around badasses.. man, I hope CA doesn't fuck it up. Has so much potential. I wish they'd just take everything from Rome 1 and Medieval 2 that works, program in the flying mounts/monsters/magic mechanics and slap some fancy graphics on it.
Ted Brasy With the map size it has amazing potential that being said i'm not confident they won't fuck it up you should take a look at the LOTR mod they are developing for Atilla i almost let out a giggle of joy lol
I'm just loving to watch you play man. I love total war games especially Rome Total war and Medieval.. But c'mon when i start a campaign let's say France in Very Hard difficulty why do factions like Sicily, Portugal or The Moors come attack me with huge armys at turn 4?? I don't understand man... leaves no room to grow specially without any money to fund a war that early...
Use your princess to marry your generals or into rival factions to woo generals( steal a general?) , keep attention of the charm rating. Diplomats can give you gold in exchange for trade & map info.Merchants should be kept at home , agree initially that they give 15-20 florins however once advanced ( after few turns) give more money in hostile takeovers.Plus merchants increase trade output in every city you control that's what I get the feeling.
''I'm not even trying that hard, I'm just f*cking around'' -LegenofTotalWar after took over five settlements in three turns
Lol I can just imagine him beating all the major factions before he even gains access to feudal knights
Next to the hotseat campaigns, this is already my favourite let's play of yours, because it is nice to see you Playing the simple vanilla game

DarkFilmDirector yeah I loved that joke. Legend is the finest entertainer on TH-cam.
DarkFilmDirector Not nearly as bad as Venice. The only campaign where I'm not at war with them was when I played as Russia
That's so strange because as Venice I made Sicily my staunch allies until the end of my game on VH/VH, as I recall they were the one of the last factions I wiped out, I just let them have southern Italy for ages.

+pilepeen Is your PC okay now? Seems like a serious injury. Might want to call the PC docs.
Remagenify
You're gonna have to call the doc if you make one more stupid joke like that.
pilepeen I got plenty more to provide to this wonderful, toxic community we live in. Whatever provokes the most stupidity I shall create context to spark it. I love the chaos.

I love you sir. #nohomo
God I love Fridays on your channel.
When I saw this video my boner slapped my face
...
When Legend plays Med II, the mongols and timurids turtle up
12:00 "So I've just been excommunicated as you can hear by that little BUUAARRGGGHHH sound."
Legend of Total War: “don’t care.”
I like your medieval 2 campaigns. You can tell you actually enjoy it.
7:33 "I don't wanna go to war with so many catholic factions, or els the pope will go apeshit on me"
The same guy who said "fuck the pope I don't care about the pope, I'll show him who's boss"
"The battle ist slipping away from us. Act now!" "STFU!"
(The Holy Roman Empire of all factions threatened to be excommunicated by the Pope)
Me: *Sweats profusely*
Its like I'm watching Vernon Roche play Medieval 2
I can't unhear this. It's hilarious!
Temeria Uber Alles
The quote on the first loading screen was very fitting
'You think I care if you're Catholic I'm already excommunicated'
Quote of the fucking century
1 hour of HRE? Awesome :) Love this campaing
This guy is the blitz of the ancient world. After watching his videos i decided to adopt his tactics and I'm trying to expand very as fast as i can.
It's the most boring way to play M2TW. AI is already too weak and you don't give it any chance. This way you will see nothing but shitty units on the battlefield.
Before Legend kills Bohemian Rebels "Mamaaaaa, ooooooo, I don't wanna die!"
I see what you did there haha
Already smashed the Milanese. Great start to this campaign already, eagre for future episodes
I lost my Faction leader to a group of peasants once , when playing as Milan.
I deleted that save game.
Guys, we are the Veterans of this game, we deserve a prize :D
Barack Obama Vardariotai FTW. Better defence than cataphracts, still fast moving with good stamina.
+Last Pharaoh (TheLastPharaoh) But the senate you can compleatly ignore and semi surround the other roman families so you can strike them quickly in a massive shock attack and they have shit all
Ok I'm a pretty decent player but, this guy .... I've watched his campaigns where he is serious... he is really fucking around here!
Awsome!
For anyone watching this 9 years later, you can avoid excommunication in a situation like this by not assaulting. You can leave the siege up and starve them out. You only get excommunicated for *new* hostile actions.
damn dude, you are the boss ! really nice campaign.. u got a new sub !
I cant believe he actually lost a battle lol
36:00
give us medieval III total war !!!!. middle age factions/wars are the best.
Holy Roman Empire!? DEUS VULT DEUS VULT DEUS VULT!!!! (Assassionates the Pope and takes control with my own)
DEUS VULT!!!!
If you wait don't start deployment in battle.Leaders give a historical speech.I like listening to speeches they are kinda funny

Now i know where the voices from Call of Warhammer come from......
I wanna see him dominate...
with Scotland.

I'd be so excited about it but I keep hearing you still can't edit campaign maps?! Edited: Excited enough to actually buy Atilla, that is.
What song starts at 12:30?
(Inb4 darude)
+Roflmager Death Lullaby. It's one of the best songs M2 has.
"What does France want?....... Apart from a goat to ****. Hahahahahhahahahaha classic!
200 florins a turn isn't a lot? Early game, that's pretty good if you ask me.
***** For mines it is pretty shit. Usually they pay at least 300.
Must be nice doing just a normal campaign.
how is opening the gates as a defender is considered an exploit? anyone can help remove my stupidity?
"King... Fuck" lol
Should have renamed the city from Milan to Mein
