Infinite in cutscenes: *Overpowered with a powerlevel to almost match MEPHILES and can move faster then sonic* Infinite boss fights: *Weak and barely does anything, and the only good part is the music*
@Avise Lurd Mephiles caught Sonic off guard and killed him. Furthermore, Mephiles is the mind of Solaris, hardly inheriting his strength With that being said, I have no other who is stronger, but Mephiles shouldnt just be automstically said to be stronger than Infinite
I’m fascinated by his power, and I like his cold confidence in his abilities. With the power to manipulate reality, he should quite literally be untouchable. But a certain lack of imagination and the few seconds needed to recharge the ruby were ultimately what kept him from realizing his true potential
I would have preferred the boss list to be like this: Chaos Zavok Infinite 1 Egg Dragoon Shadow Infinite 2 Metal Perfect Chaos (except he becomes Perfect using Ruby instead of Emeralds) Infinite 3 Death Egg Robot Infinite Final (play as Super/Hyper)
Too bad it is a rushed game, they can't make all of that in 1 year, the hedgehog engine was made to be compatible with the PS4, XB1 And the Switch all in one engine and with stable frame rate, so it took 3 years, the game took 1 year
Honestly speaking, what could've been a good plot twist to this whole story was that Infinite could've been the REAL villain behind Sonic Forces. Being real, I really found Infinite so interesting throughout the entire. He even struck me and gave me the impression that he was gonna be the final villain. So it was disappointing as to what Sonic Team had done with him in the end. Honestly, I was expecting/hoping to see him betray Eggman and take over the empire himself. Because when you think about it; Infinite was a lot more powerful than he was made out to be. Sure Eggman perfected the Phantom Ruby. But the only reason he won mainly because of Infinite. The scene where he mentioned about how Sonic was powerless against him whereas Eggman struggled against the hedgehog. That could've been a seed planted in Infinite to make him realize that he doesn't need Eggman to rule and watch the world burn. Maybe I'm rambling, but to be frank; Infinite wasn't a bad character. He just had poor execution.
Well, thats a great concept, Eggman makes something more powerful than him, which is stronger than Sonic and defeats Eggman and tries to kill Sonic, but…. _Smbz also did that…_
A remake of this game, where it would actually reach its full potential, would just be amazing. I hate being stuck with what we got, when it could’ve truly been a great game

So because everyone is wondering what happened to Infinite, listen to how he cries out in the end of the third boss fight, he is flat out BEGGING to not be called to the base, and when he is called, his body is then phased into the ruby, showing that the ruby's use is hazardous to organic life, most likely killing him, again he showed his fear of being called to base in his words saying desperately that he could still fight, but Eggman just wanted none of it and forcibly had him get absorbed into the phantom ruby and went back to base to get put to use inside the Death Egg Robot.... At least, thats what I think.

Now that I think of it, its kinda like Shadow in SA2.He just falls down to Earth with no "real" comfirmation that he died. I hope they do a story arc around him like what they did with Heroes and Shadow.
He’s not evil at all. He’s an emotional wreck after Shadow killed his pack and nearly killed him and humiliated him. It drove him insane. I just see a consciousness crying out in pain for his dead family and hating himself into insanity. If anyone is a villain in this game other than robotnik it’s Shadow. Which is sad because he was once a hero but is becoming more and more unhinged....
What pisses me off about what Sonic Team did to Infinite is the fact that they had one of the greatest designs I'v ever seen in the series and they blew it with giving him a backstory and overall purpose in this game. I don't think Sonic Team will ever have a good villain with this kind of design ever again because of their stupid incompetence and laziness.
@J Foster its not hard to do better tbh. Infinite should have used his powers and betray eggman and rule it for himself. He completely rules virtual reality and his gem can even bring the virtual reality to normal reality. They could have done things this way. 1. Infinite gets the 7 emeralds 2. Uses them with the phamtom ruby and completely merges virtual reality with reality which would give him omnipotence in the world. 3. He traps eggman in a firewall that will destroy him 4. Sonic and shadow try to beat him but he proves too strong so they retreat to angel island and use the master emerald to go super 5. They battle a super infinite with their super forms 6. Infinite uses his ruby's full power to combat them both and completely alters the reality itself 7. Through the use of sonic and shadow's combined chaos control, they warp reality back to normal 8. Infinite runs out of power as he used to much but sonic and shadow are also out of energy 9. Eggman shows up last second to take advantage of the weakened infinite and uses an egg dragoon powered by a phantom ruby prototype. 10. Sonic, Shadow, and infinite team up to crush eggman 11. Infinite leaves the battlefield as he no longer wishes to fight sense he doesn't have the power to keep fighting 12. the digital world becomes regualr reality as the ruby is drained to 0 13. Infinite goes into hiding and uses eggman's data and research to make the phantom ruby even more potent. 14. He is out of the next few games but pulls strings behind the scenes in order to gather more data. 15. He creates a special armor that allows the ruby to be used with limited energy usage 16. He returns for a real final battle
I'd have loved it if The final Infinite fight was some GER shiz. Picture it: The PR prototype wasn’t destroyed, Infinite is throwing certain death attacks at you and you use the Phantom Ruby to reverse them or negate them, rather than a cheap Metal Sonic with more cinematic music
Imagine if the previous Infinite battles were impossible to win. Like, the battle starts, Infinite blasts a wave of energy and you're immediately brought into the red-tinted illusion world with pretty much impossible to dodge attacks until you lose. But then in this last battle, with the PR prototype you get the ability to get out of the ruby influence once every few seconds, and have to time that to dodge the attacks and hit Infinite. That would encourage some tactical thinking and risk into the battle with the consideration that using the prototype now instead of trying to dodge things normally could result in making things easier, or it could mean you taking the next impossible wall of spikes to the face while the prototype is still recharging.
@@bigbangpegasusmaster It should've been. It didn't make sense when Infinite threw them in Null Space (a supposedly inescapable dimension) Just for them to double boost out. That just defeats the point of even mentioning Null Space.
Okay, let's not lie: They blew all their writing/voice acting budget on Infinite. It shows. I'm loving everything that comes out of his mouth, but everyone else..... Edit: Well, no, Eggman is as good as ever.
I’ve arrived from the future. While I also hoped for his return, I am here to unfortunately deliver 2 nuggets of information that will probably dash those hopes. 1. Ian Flynn is not allowed to use infinite or the jackal squad in the IDW comics. 2. An official handbook states that Infinite was consumed by the phantom Ruby after his 3rd defeat. Those two things together, it sounds like the ultimate mercenary is no longer alive.
@@Thewavedemonjackal Weird how i was just tweakin' an Infinite Fanart. 1. Really? did they give it a reason? that's sucks... :( 2. And yeah, i saw that one, though "consumed" is open to interpretation since the Phantom Ruby itself is still out there.
@@ShadeMeadows that is very weird. Spooky coincidence. 1. No. I didn’t see one. 2. Quite possibly. I mean, if you go into the sonic news network wiki and look at the jackal squad, it says the unnamed members are deceased (once again. Handbook. But it doesn’t say they were killed, just destroyed. So personally I still think/hope that’s just up to interpretation) but infinite isn’t labelled as deceased. So there is hope
@@Thewavedemonjackal There is always hope, Sonic does like to retcon or use technicalities... i'm sure we will see the Phantom Ruby again, and i expect a mention at the very least! Also Sonic Forces runners added 'im as a character, so i'm glad he's not totally forgotten!
11:07 when Sonic talks, it's actually a scrapped cutscene that was supposed to happen before Arsenal Pyramid. It's part of how Sonic and Buddy learn to Double Boost.
Honestly OttoeCamn he might be a wolf the way he looks and his tail looks more fox like then anything I saw his face and know what he looks like jackals look nothing like that.
John Quantumm it's confirmed that he's a jackal. No reason to argue otherwise. And honestly, saying that he doesn't look like a jackal doesn't really mean much when we have someone like Knuckles who looks nothing like an echidna.
Just pointing out, Eggman could see the sun Infinite summoned which means Infinite planned on killing Eggman aswell. Either this is another oversight on Sega's part or Eggman wasn't thinking clear enough.
Infinite had amazing power, great design and could have become a threat to even Super Sonic. But Sonic Team managed to screw up everything except the powers and design...
@@DerpaTure9503 I don't think this could have happened. Super Sonic and Super Saiyan look similar, but their purpose is different. Super Saiyan 2 has become a pretty weak form when compared to other crazy stuff like SSG or Ultra Instinct, and DBZ transformations appear very often, but Super Sonic is usually Sonic's last resort and takes part only in critical final battles. I think that Infinite, the guy who managed to beat regular Sonic twice, is a perfect opponent for Super Sonic
Infinite was the best bit about the game but was so anticlimactic at the end. It would have been a better version of Imperial Tower if Infinite revealed he hadn't shielded Eggman from the sun, so it would destroy everyone including him. Definitely should have been the final boss, but his design is fantastic and I personally really liked his backstory. I think people trivialise it by saying he threw a tantrum (although he kind of did), but I connected with it emotionally. And the voice acting across the board in this game was incredible. The best yet.
Infinite was pretty inconsistent at one point. In the cutscene before the 2nd fight, he says 'or will you run away again', indicating he remembers the character running away. Then in the battle he says 'I feel like we've met before' indicating he doesn't remember them. Then in the cutscene after he acts as if he just remembered them running as if he never pointed it out before the damn fight!
The fact that two characters with amazing designs (that being Mephiles and Infinite) were wasted in both of their games baffles me (especially since I like both a lot)
Infinite has such potential to be this game's greatest adversary to rival, even surpass that of Eggman and his final Death Egg Robot, but.... Be got fucked over. Not only that, his hatred towards Shadow was never delved into deeper. SEGA, I'm glad you're learning your lessons with Frontiers.
"How about 'here dozes the masked clown?' Might as well make for the one who's gonna need one, right?" GOD i wish this level of writing was in the rest of the game. it's not much, but it shows that sonic took his months of supposed torture personally, he's still his jokey self but he has a vendetta against infinite and he is going to get even no matter what.
tbh his backstory is probably supposed to say something about his personality. its supposed to show the audience that he doesn't like to lose and is hot headed, overreacting to things easily. we're supposed to view him as an asshole who decided to put other peoples' lives in danger because he didnt get what he want. we're supposed to view him as a whiny crybaby. the boss fights are meant to show how he's all bark and no bite
He is cool. Some of his lines are great... But he is just another forgettable villain after all. Super build up for nothing. Poor origin, poor backstory, he did nothing relevant as a villain, no consequence, nothing. Probably he will come back in another game.
XenoBurast I agree! wasted potential, really, writers can't come up with an interesting story... Not only the gameplay, the fucking story is ALWAYS the same!!!! I am not even intrigued when I play the fucking game because I knew that all this was going to happen!! a kid could write more interesting scenarios and villains.
XenoBurast he kind a reminds some of mephilis. Great villain but just bad story, origin story, and just bad writing. They both have soo much potential it’s just that they belong to some bad games especially mephilis sonic ‘06.
Well, I've a theory, like near 7:34, when infinite said that only the one having a strength without ruby equal to that of me with the Ruby, could have activated the full potential of the Phantom ruby. May, it's a sign that Mephiles could return gaining control of phantom ruby and harnessing the ultimate power from Eggman's secret museum (if any). And if that happens, no one will be able to stop mephiles. Because Mephiles is the only one that can surpass infinite without the Phantom ruby.
A little tip for the second Infinite boss fight, you can use he burst weapon on him, if you hold down the R2 button you can shoot fire at him which will make health go down a lot more faster instead of hitting him.
My Name's Not 3rick! I agree with you all the way those are the same reasons I like him....the only problems I had was that he didn't have a proper sendoff and his origin story but aside from them he is my new favorite character in the Sonic Villains list
Infinite as a character as well as the OST really carried this game. I was really disappointed when Chaos didn’t even matter in this game, like Classic Sonic just bonks them on the head and they turned into a puddle.
I like to use the fire wispon because when he charges and he misses for you to strike, just using a flamethrower on him once can decimate his healthy more than half each time and you can defeat him in less than 1 min.
The fact that Infinite and Zazz has the same voice is awesome. But when he voices few characters from few Call of Duty, i'm Surprised. it's fine that he voices David from blacks ops 2 demo, But when he is at *INFINITE* WARFARE!!!??!! HOW!!!!!!!!!????!!! *DOES THAT MEAN THAT INFINTE WARFARE IS AN "UNOFFICIAL" SPINOFF?!?!?!*
Well, SEGA didn't allow IDW to use Infinite in their comic universe, so he'll return in future games, probably. I hope, he will not repeat the fate of Kylo Ren. He deserves better than this
I'm hoping for a Final Chapter DLC where Super sonic fights a Super Infinite. Such a let down he wasn't the FINAL boss and it wasn't a Super Sonic Battle.
I think sonic games and especially its cutscenes have actually benefitted from the horror that is sonic boom. There's a lot more personality to the characters in the cutscenes.(As well as tons of sick fight scenes!😂) They did a good job on the great game that killed the boom franchise!

Now that I think of it, its kinda like Shadow in SA2.He just falls down to Earth with no "real" comfirmation that he died. I hope they do a story arc around him like what they did with Heroes and Shadow.
Great villian great theme terrible origin story
Read his comic...
Like Broly only as a sonic character.
Infinite is pure evil, dreaming the destruction of world and didnt listen to his squad warning of working with eggman
To be fair, the most evil villain in sonic history is mephiles.
Don't blame them..... Blame Sega.
Blame deadlines
It all makes me sad that Infinite's design was wasted.
@J Foster its not hard to do better tbh. Infinite should have used his powers and betray eggman and rule it for himself. He completely rules virtual reality and his gem can even bring the virtual reality to normal reality. They could have done things this way.
1. Infinite gets the 7 emeralds
2. Uses them with the phamtom ruby and completely merges virtual reality with reality which would give him omnipotence in the world.
3. He traps eggman in a firewall that will destroy him
4. Sonic and shadow try to beat him but he proves too strong so they retreat to angel island and use the master emerald to go super
5. They battle a super infinite with their super forms
6. Infinite uses his ruby's full power to combat them both and completely alters the reality itself
7. Through the use of sonic and shadow's combined chaos control, they warp reality back to normal
8. Infinite runs out of power as he used to much but sonic and shadow are also out of energy
9. Eggman shows up last second to take advantage of the weakened infinite and uses an egg dragoon powered by a phantom ruby prototype.
10. Sonic, Shadow, and infinite team up to crush eggman
11. Infinite leaves the battlefield as he no longer wishes to fight sense he doesn't have the power to keep fighting
12. the digital world becomes regualr reality as the ruby is drained to 0
13. Infinite goes into hiding and uses eggman's data and research to make the phantom ruby even more potent.
14. He is out of the next few games but pulls strings behind the scenes in order to gather more data.
15. He creates a special armor that allows the ruby to be used with limited energy usage
16. He returns for a real final battle
@J Foster yeah, they could have done that instead of what we got. That would have been better than the current sonic forces we got
Infinite is one of my favorite Sonic characters
forest cat 807 same
Mu favourite is probably metal sonic
I know, he isn't the best thing ever, but i am sure, if SEGA make an other 3D Sonic game with him but working well, he will be awesome even more
Infinite's backstory would've been better if he forced shadow to go super or something.
I'd have loved it if The final Infinite fight was some GER shiz. Picture it:
The PR prototype wasn’t destroyed, Infinite is throwing certain death attacks at you and you use the Phantom Ruby to reverse them or negate them, rather than a cheap Metal Sonic with more cinematic music
There's some concept art that implies the final Infinite battle would've been in Null Space
@@bigbangpegasusmaster It should've been. It didn't make sense when Infinite threw them in Null Space (a supposedly inescapable dimension) Just for them to double boost out. That just defeats the point of even mentioning Null Space.
Infinite : I AM NOT WEAK !
sonic : NO BUT YOU'RE TOO SLOW !
Okay, let's not lie: They blew all their writing/voice acting budget on Infinite. It shows. I'm loving everything that comes out of his mouth, but everyone else.....
Edit: Well, no, Eggman is as good as ever.
I'm really hoping for a more in-depth Infinite in the future, we have comics for that!
he's probably coming back.I mean his "end" was so cliffhanger-y that he just has to be coming back.
God damn, I want Infinite to read ingredients off a shampoo bottle. I could listen to him for hours.
Same! 🤣
At 8:04 Infinite knows that Sonic and Tails are there, he's just pretending that he doesn't. It's like he's trying to mess with them.
Infinite has such a attractive voice oh my lord
'what happened to the mouse?'
Don't know. The Phantom Ruby took him to a different dimension like in Mania?
Don't know.
Soul-the-Mysterious he's a jackal
I know what he is, I saw the comic. but my recent comment is a trope reference cause of what happened in the aftermath of his final battle.
I love this character Infinite/Zero the Jackal he better return and become playable.
Just pointing out, Eggman could see the sun Infinite summoned which means Infinite planned on killing Eggman aswell. Either this is another oversight on Sega's part or Eggman wasn't thinking clear enough.
*A N D T H E B O N D S O F F R E I N D S H I P *
shadow the hedgehog for some reason i read that as the bones of friends hips
My Friends are My power cliché.
+1
I had the biggest eye roll when he said that.
21:56 Masked Clown? Where have I heard that before.....
_Somewhere, in Nevada...._
Daaaamn Liam O’Brien put his entire O’Bussy into his performance as Infinite!
I thought it was Troy Baker at first 😊.
Infinite was pretty inconsistent at one point. In the cutscene before the 2nd fight, he says 'or will you run away again', indicating he remembers the character running away. Then in the battle he says 'I feel like we've met before' indicating he doesn't remember them. Then in the cutscene after he acts as if he just remembered them running as if he never pointed it out before the damn fight!
well, he likely didn't know exactly which one remember he's killed and fought a lot of soldiers
Imagine if they went through that effort to destroy the sun, but Infinite pulled a Saitama “Ok” and Summoned another one in its place.
This unstoppable creation has been passed down through the Coborlwitz family for generations!
The fact that two characters with amazing designs (that being Mephiles and Infinite) were wasted in both of their games baffles me (especially since I like both a lot)
Ya know, Infinite is kind of like Inosuke! You actually look at his face and you don't expect his voice to be that deep!
Just watching for his voice.
What?
I don't have a problem.
Dante's Disco Inferno
I do not blame you. Liam O'Brien is my favourite voice actor of all time.
You could also watch Naruto in eng dub for the same voice if you want; Liam also voiced Gaara
Darth Distortion
I don't recommend it though because it's Naruto and it's a dub on top of it.
i like his voice too, kinda reminds me of itachi and gaara
No infinite voices is the best voice in sonic universes
Four words.
Great villain, wasted potential
Infinite has such potential to be this game's greatest adversary to rival, even surpass that of Eggman and his final Death Egg Robot, but....
Be got fucked over. Not only that, his hatred towards Shadow was never delved into deeper. SEGA, I'm glad you're learning your lessons with Frontiers.
Infinite's theme slaps so hard
Infinite is one of my favorite characters in the whole game
you know for as bad as this game was, infinite is legit a menacing villain
I'll admit, Mephiles was a much better and more consistent villain. He embodied evil and chaos in purity as much as a children's game will allow.
Infinite could have killed sonic after the first boss fight, but yeah he is kinda of a crybaby
White Sekai dude episode shadow will explain infinites backstory
Oh yeah, infinites backstory...
Infinite: I am the ultimate mercenary!
*gets beat up by Shadow*
Infinite: What?! i am not weak! I AM NOT WEAK!!!!
XenoBurast he kind a reminds some of mephilis. Great villain but just bad story, origin story, and just bad writing. They both have soo much potential it’s just that they belong to some bad games especially mephilis sonic ‘06.
They're both also voiced by freaking awesome voice actors. Dan Green for Mephiles and Liam O'Brien for Infinite.
Is nobody gonna talk about the distorted giant infinite’s at 10:20
I love this boi, he is amazing and his voice is awesome and I like the detail when you touch his cubes the reality changes into something else.
My favorite scene is the stage and infinite flies up next to you
12:42 so epic
I have a question:
How, in the first boss fight with Infinite, did Sonic catch and hit him? Didn’t we already establish that he was faster than Sonic?
It might be cuz he was held back by our attacks or hes just cocky
By the power of double boost with rookie bro use ur mind
{HP}ARSLAN saeed You realize that the first boss didn’t have Rookie in it, right?
Infinite was toying around with Sonic, since he thought that if he defeated Sonic so easily, it wouldn’t be challenge in that boss fight either
Thats exactly what I was thinking!!!
Infinite was not prepared
What happened to Infinite after Sonic and Avatar beat him?
Colin Henderson nothin bro he just vanishes
No one will know lol
I feel like The Ruby stored infinites body inside it to heal him, and he teleported to the bade
Colin Henderson feel like he got absorbed by the ruby
I feel like the Phantom Ruby shattered along with Infinite.
Not gonna lie, I got pretty excited when I saw Silver!
A little tip for the second Infinite boss fight, you can use he burst weapon on him, if you hold down the R2 button you can shoot fire at him which will make health go down a lot more faster instead of hitting him.
"When it is finished, and Mobius is... ashes... then you have my permission to die."
1:57
Metal sonic: Look at that upsmash
Shadow: HAPPY FEET WOMBO COMBO
Zavok: That Aint FalCO
Chaos: DAMN SON
Infinite: OHHH OHHH OHHHHH BAWWWAA WHERES YOURAOOOOCOCOOOOOOOOOOOOO
yo wtf, his vs soundtrack is actually good???
2:02 Sonic now knows what vegeta felt after cell gave him the elbow drop.
Haha I was right Infinite was badass.....his character was great and his boss battles were pretty tricky......LOVE THIS CHARACTER
Redzilla 2025 I love his design, voice, power, themes, and boss fights. Infinite is awesome.
My Name's Not 3rick! I agree with you all the way those are the same reasons I like him....the only problems I had was that he didn't have a proper sendoff and his origin story but aside from them he is my new favorite character in the Sonic Villains list
The dumb thing Sega did is make a badass character who cries every time he is called weak. LIKE REALLY SEGA, GET YO **** TOGETHER!!!!
Matthew Elijah Martinez lol this kid....
>lol this kid
said the person who supports arguably one of the worst characters since big.
Infinite as a character as well as the OST really carried this game. I was really disappointed when Chaos didn’t even matter in this game, like Classic Sonic just bonks them on the head and they turned into a puddle.
This helped me get the storyline all together thank u rabid
I like to use the fire wispon because when he charges and he misses for you to strike, just using a flamethrower on him once can decimate his healthy more than half each time and you can defeat him in less than 1 min.
Just saying infinite looks little bit like darkrai.
Diancie Cocoon Yeah. His thing with illusions also reminds me of Zoroark.
Plot twist : Infinite is darkrai's fursona
11:29 I remember that boss fight was so..
FREAKING
DAMN
HARD
Kareem Davis it was piss easy
Nice joke brother
The fact that Infinite and Zazz has the same voice is awesome.
But when he voices few characters from few Call of Duty, i'm Surprised.
it's fine that he voices David from blacks ops 2 demo, But when he is at *INFINITE* WARFARE!!!??!!
HOW!!!!!!!!!????!!!
*DOES THAT MEAN THAT INFINTE WARFARE IS AN "UNOFFICIAL" SPINOFF?!?!?!*
How do they not see tails there lol
"it isnt over yet, my plan just went into overtime"
Next time we see infinite will be 25 years from now on
"How about ' here dozes the masked clown'" -Sonic 2017
Well, SEGA didn't allow IDW to use Infinite in their comic universe, so he'll return in future games, probably.
I hope, he will not repeat the fate of Kylo Ren. He deserves better than this
I'm hoping for a Final Chapter DLC where Super sonic fights a Super Infinite. Such a let down he wasn't the FINAL boss and it wasn't a Super Sonic Battle.
Maybe we will get a Super Infinite in a Super Sonic battle in Sonic Forces 2. Base on the theme of the game, the OC will probably be Super too.
The final cutscenes by the 19 min mark is like, da f.ck eggman, your killing yourself too. Unless you can escape some how.
gboi gamer Probably not under the Phantom Ruby's control, therefore not part of his reality.
I think sonic games and especially its cutscenes have actually benefitted from the horror that is sonic boom. There's a lot more personality to the characters in the cutscenes.(As well as tons of sick fight scenes!😂) They did a good job on the great game that killed the boom franchise!
