Great to see you playing Starfield. I have found from making two characters, that if I only make a first name, like my first character, Vasco only calls me Captain. If I have a first and last name then my last name is used by Vasco. So if I wanted to be called Captain Jack then I would need to have Jack be my last name. But then I would have to be a Pirate.
Don't know if it was genuine, but: You thank Lin for giving you a job when you were down on your luck. Notice that you start as miner regardless of what you were before...because you fell on hard times. And they did train you in using the cutter, and how to mine minerals. Not to unreasonable to show a little thankfulness. But besides that, I think you should have the option to be ungrateful too. ;P
I guess it's the exact "Thanks for everything" phrasing that feels a litte off, considering you as a player and character only know her for a few minutes.
Amazing to have an opportunity and miner training, but it truly feels like my character being down on their luck was absolutely being taken advantage of by sending me in first to a dangerous and unknown situation with no support or training or experience in what to expect. I guess it just felt extremely similar to how, in our real world, folks who are down on their luck and forced to take work in sweatshops are exploited. Just because someone has no choice or is down on their luck, doesn't give someone the right to exploit them... Everyone deserves respect and safety 🙏

Gotta say, i love the energy of this. Normally I agree that making your own way in a game is important, this game however is really bad about telling you what you can do.
No it’s not. It just doesn’t hold your hand and lets you figure things out for yourself. I swear modern RPGs have dumbed down players. They just want their hand held the whole time.

The trick is to have enough tutorial to allow players to be able to fully play the game, without either making them feel like they are having their hand held, or like the tutorial is taking too long. Designers have been struggling with that balance for a long time now. And all of that doesn't take into account that leaving mechanics for the player to discover isn't necessarily a bad thing. All of this needs to be taken into account when designing a game, with many more questions asked in the process. Usually the simplest solution to make people not feel under informed is to have a help/guide menu where those that want to can dig deeper, or find an answer to a question they have about the mechanics. Also games have dumbed down what's expected of players, it's the only way to get new players on. How to play games is a very hard area for new people to get into. Those of us that have been playing most of our lives have a lexicon of knowledge that can't be readily shared, from things like what very minor visual queues mean in what is displayed to a user, to more obvious things like the hand-eye coordination needed to move your character on screen while not watching what your hands are doing.
Are there specific accessibility options you feel are missing from Starfield? I ask because some of them might be possible via modding, or even just editing a configuration file, so you wouldn't have to wait for Bethesda to patch it in, if they ever do. (For example, it's fairly simple to replace the default font with one of those unevenly-weighted dyslexia-friendly fonts; and you can get a wider FOV by adding two lines to an INI file. I've already got a mod that changes the colour of the UI in various ways.) Anyway, there are plenty of things mods can't do (yet), but if you hit a lot of friction with a particular aspect of the UX, someone out there might have already found a way to smooth it over!

Yes, modding can make a difference for sure, but it's a bit more nuanced than that, gonna try and explain but hopefully this makes sense! ❤️ My disappointment is also about the message a lack of accessibility options sends - modders have "fixed" the major accessibility options, and done so within 3 days of launch - this means it's truly that Bethesda did not allocate the resources to make sure everyone can play. There are also many barriers folks can experience on terms of "fixing" with a mod - them not being available on all platforms, cognitive and/or motor accessibility barriers and the potential of the mods breaking with updates. Can things be fixed by mods? Yes. Should they need to be? No.
Yeah, that's sadly true. I've worked in Web accessibility for about 20 years now so I'm all too familiar with the corners that get cut by companies that just don't care enough. The arguments I've had... ugh. Anyway, clearly you don't need any advice from me. Best of luck in your Starfielding!
When you are looking around places, you will see a lot of items. I noticed you missed quiet a few digipics on some of the desks. For myself, I will not be buying or playing this game, due to it's limitations on UI and interface. Glad you endured though :D I'll keep watching to see how you fair once more u;loaded on youtube.
So sorry to hear about the UI barriers to you playing. The accessibility is truly lacking and I'm really disappointed Bethesda didn't put more resources into it! As for missing things... Human rights, gender equality and diversity aren't politics. Representation and accessibility is important to everyone. If you have a problem with any of that it's best if you go watch something else.
Some of the best games are drenched in politics. Resident evil is corporation and pharmaceutical corruption. Metal Gear solid is pure politics. Skyrim is about a civil war on native rights.... like, do some BASIC thinking.

SlowRun WR glitched Any% SlowRun because this most certainly isn't going to be a speedrun, lot of time will be spent looking at all the shiny things WR, because let's be honest, it probably will be, and we're all here for it. glitched, because no matter how well put together the game is, you will find a way to break it and silly nonsense will ensue. Any%, because 100% completion is not the goal, the journey of looking at all the shiny things is. The weather will be nebula cloudy, with a possibility of TED Talks.

I really found it funny how Kolo totally freaks out because of the character creation. In my opinion Starfield don't really have that much to customize. Doesn't mean it is a great game, played it for 30 hours already. But compared to Black Desert Online for example the customization of the character is an easy task to do. 😂
Comparing it to one of the games with the most extensive character customisation doesn't change the fact that Starfield is a big improvement over something like Skyrim or Fallout, and that it has some options that are barely seen anywhere else.
