Hey there, I've been practicing typing and have developed some bad habits resulting pretty much from my now already engrave developed muscle memory playing mmorpgs through the years, such as using left pinky finger for shift only and right pinky finger for shift and ' key. To add on top of that my home raw keys are QWE (left) and "POK (right)... With this technique I'm averaging 85-95 wpm on typeracer for quite some time now and don't seem to improve. Do you have any tips for me, I mean is it mandatory having a classic home raw, which is now due to bad habits so contra-intuitive to me or is there a way to improve as I am (like do you know anyone who doesn't type the conventional "by the book" way and manages to pass 150wpm mark)?

I want to get one of those ergonomic keyboards to prevent any pains, but I feel like if typing is like hitting yourself on the head with a hammer, then an ergonomic keyboard would just be like putting on a helmet, when really you should be looking for ways to stop hitting yourself with a hammer in the first place.
