FYI: The printer is not completely out of warranty just because you put sublimation ink inside of the printer. One should still register the printer. If it's determined that the ink caused an issue with the print head, yes that part is voided. If the printer has an issue with the power or another mechanical problem, it's still covered. Therefore, one should still submit that warranty form to Epson. I'm in the IT world FT.
Not true. With another Epson printer converted to sublimation few months later paper tray failed and contacted Epson for printer replacement, they said no. Why? Even though the paper tray (Paper try sensor damaged) had nothing to do with the ink, warranty was void just because I used sublimation ink. I have gone all the way up to corporate executive and they too still insist the printer warranty is void. They shared warranty policy link and it does state if not using Epson manufactures inks voids warranty to the entire printer, not just the print heads for ink.
you can buy a device that resets the chip in the maintenance cartridge. most are not even half full when the printer tells you it needs a new one. (this may be different for different inks, but you can see by carefully breaking the old one and seeing how full they were.) if you reset the chip and monitor the fullness of the maintenance cartridge you can save lots of money.
How is the printer holding up since you first set it up? I am looking to get one, but I am leary since putting the sublimation ink in the printer will void the warranty. Also, do you have to do a daily maintenance to keep the heads from clogging?
So far I have not had any issues. My only thing is that the inks are hard to tell where they are at because they kind of dye the side of the window area. I do not do daily maintenance. I do try to print once a week or every few weeks if I am not sublimating a lot at that time. I like it!
Cosmo Inks are not MSDS certified and do not have ICC profiles. Second, Cosmo inks seems to have work for other Epson models but too many people had issues with Et-8550. Say away from this brand.
So far your video is easy to follow along. I had already started but then wasn't sure about the PB and the Gray ink. I bought and already installed Hiippo ink but not the PB or the gray. Is it ok to use another brand of PB and Gray sub ink and what would you recommend?

Thank you for this video, Nice! Question, what paper are you using to align print heads and cleaning, regular 8.5 x 11 or sublimation paper? Hate to waste sub paper just for setting it up, thanks.

I have never used Hiipoo ink, so I am not sure why yours. Have you pressed one of your prints yet? They do print dull on the paper. What paper do you use? It's a combo of ink and paper.
Major difference. Epson SureColor F170 is a 100% sublimation printer where the print heads are designed for sublimation inks. Any other Epson models such as ET-8550 printer the print heads are not design for sublimation inks. Whereby, converting an Epson printer to sublimation is always a risk. Why, sublimation inks will eventually clog the print heads. Can the conversion be done? Yes, but at a risk. Also, any Epson models converted for sublimation will void Espon’s warranty for the entire printer. I have Epson SureColor F170 for the last two years and it still prints awesome. I also think Epson sublimation ink is far better than most brands, vibrant and true to colors. Only drawback is the limitation of paper size, 8 1/2 X 11” to 8 1/2” X 14.
Just curious, did you ever use the CD disc that came with it because I’m trying to do mine for windows 10 and I see everybody’s doing videos but they’re not seeing if they’re installing the disk for the hard drive for using windows. Let me know. Thanks.

Is the magenta before it presses or after? The color never looks right before you press it. If it is still not printing right, you may need to adjust your color settings. I never touch mine and it works right, but I know some people use ICC Color Profiles for printing.
