When Anya is faced with a terrible situation she punishes herself, when Jitters is faced with a terrible situation he punishes everyone else around him

Rather than hiding her feelings I felt that Anya accepted them. She used to flip flop between letting Jimmy in and seeking solace away from him, but now she's resolute. She was open to others that she didn't want Jimmy around, but whenever he was actually there, she would always yield to him. She finally decided that that couldn't continue, so she did two things. She locked Jimmy out (in every sense of the word) so he couldn't influence her anymore, and she made a choice between herself and Jimmy, as she had already admitted she could never be happy as long as both of them were there. Of course, she did not choose to punish someone else (even if that someone was Jimmy) for her shortcomings, as that would make her no better than Jimmy. She chose to punish herself, but the resolve that came with it made it feel like the best choice she had ever made. Once she understood these two things and how necessary they were for herself, I'm sure she was nothing but calm. Oh, and also she had to make good on her desire to keep Jimmy from finding the gun. @@user-AstroVespersConsidering the company, Pony Express, didn't care much about their manned crew, it definitely shows the horrors of what happens when you let a hostile work environment fester in something as critical as going in space for years to deliver a cargo of products like mouthwash to another planet. Let's think about it: Lack of concern and safety for the crewmembers especially based on the general state of the ship model, the Tulpar. The sheer micromanaging of using ingredients to make food and delegating it to the Captain with strict rules. A lack of background screening that led to Jimmy (who is theorized to have been an ex-convict), and even their whole news of firing everyone but Curly, the "only useful guy worth promoting." Textbook shitty workplace environment on drugs. And the worst part? They wouldn't even be sued because the company would have been bankrupt anyway as the "last company using manned labor."
what im realizing now is how jimmy sees anya so poorly, he imagines her as a stupid oblivious women, and thinks of her sentences as word vomit. hearing anya and seeing her in this animation is heartbreaking.
the fact that her death was barely acknowledged by Jimmy (which is POV’d to us the player) says a lot about how much care Jimmy had for her: none. He only said those things bc he was “Captain” of the crew
’Member how her body is initially censored when Jimmy enters the Medical Rooms? Some people interpret it as him just genuinely not caring about her lying there dead so much he puts her out of his mind.
@vaclavsoukup7302 When I saw that moment, I figured it was him blurring it out because he knows that Anya offed herself because of him, but he is in denial. It means he failed as a captain and he doesn't want to take responsibility for the situation. If he doesn't acknowledge her dead body, it means she's not really there. I guess I think he experiences more guilt than he lets on.
He voiced him? Huh. Anyways, it's just another voice role at the end of the day. Nothing too substantial to require special compensation beyond what was agreed upon

realization when she says she'll take care of it she's referring to the baby, since thats all jimbo seems to care about. during this entire conversation jimbo just seems so. menacing. demanding. it's perfectly voiced its horrifying the way anya remained so calm.. my god.
Everyone write about Anya and how depressed she felt, but imagine how Curly felt. Curly saw Anya killed herself because of Jimmy, then Curly saw Daisuke smeared in his own blood because of Jimmy, and then Curly saw him taking the revolver. Curly just laughed. It was the moment Curly realized that his old friend is the devil
Hey, some free trauma. Remember the camera angle change when Swansea brings the axe down on Daisuke? That wasn't just some random camera change to spare the audience the gore. It was Curly's POV. Curly watched it all happen, laying on his hospital bed, helpless. Anya taking her own life, Daisuke emerging bloodied from the vent, Swansea putting him out of his misery, and then Jimmy taking the gun. No wonder he broke down laughing.
But it was kinda his fault , he didn't stop Jimmy , when Anya told him what Jimmy did , he didn't do anything, he should have realised sooner , as much as i feel bad for curly and I love him , hes nor a victim in this scenario, far from it
@@maxwaxthejax and chances are he knew this too, and he may very well has been in so much guilt and shame and anger at himself for his inaction, which led to all this
@@maxwaxthejax He is a victim, period. He may have had the chance to stop all of this if he had done something, but his fate is far harsher than what his crime is. He is responsible for allowing Jimmy to turn the ship, thus rendering him crippled for the coming months (which, ironically, is also Jimmy's doing). Compared to Jimmy, who is actually responsible for all the misery, and whose fate was shooting himself, quick and painless, and even believing himself the hero, I'd say Curly's sin is not deserving the punishment he got.
@rainboi5920 he should feel ashamed and guilty for leaving Anya all alone , anyone would, doesn't make it any less his fault, it's not his fault Jimmy rped anya, it's not his fault jimmy crashed the ship , and got everyone else killed , but it is his fault for turning a blind eye and not doing anything about it , him turning a blind eye is what caused him to be in so much misery, Jimmy Is a horrible person , and curly is complicit to what happened by not doing anything about it while he still had the chance too , he only started to regret it when it affected him but if the ship hasn't crashed Anya probably wouldn't have gotten any help , since curly had been turning a blind eye, again I love curly , but he's not a good person , not saying he's a bad person either
@@uranian-Umbra I've always thought it would be awesome if there was a voice actor with all voices. I finally found it. (I'm Korean and there are no trans voice actors in Korea yet, so this video amazed me.)
Fun fact about this scene in game: Attempting to use no clip to get into the room will result in the same heavy visual distortion as what you see when going into the room with Swansea just after
Going to say, for as much of an emotional rollercoaster as Anya's dialogue is, I love that we now have a voice for Jimmy. We finally see how he was acting when Anya was talking to him. He was mocking her, he was belittling her as he always does, and he truly didn't care. It honestly clears up stuff and shows that his behaviour was always there even before the reveal.
The fact that Curly's transformation from being a character that takes action in the plot, to a forced viewer that has no other choice but to sit, watch and suffer is really emphasized in this animation.
Edit: I have no idea how this got so much attention, but this was meant to be a joke. Please stop replying 😭 I am going to continue to live in denial. Mouthwashing was just a bad dream. Jimmy does not exist and everyone else is happy. Please.
Besides the fact that the laughter of the mutilated Curly is one of the most powerful emotional things in the game, remember that the bedside drawer with the suitcase for the gun was open. Most likely, Anya wanted to leave in a faster way, but she just didn't have the access code. And Curly was forced to just watch, unable to either say the code or stop it. When Curly was laughing, I thought he's thinking like: "So... this is how you take things into your own hands, Jim!?" or "So... this is how you control the situation, Captain?"
@@SunFlower-mi2fb Especially saying that after what he did to her and not taking how that would affect her mentally that's some Griffith mentality right there
Out of all the characters in mouth washing, Anya is 100% the strongest person hands down. I have nothing but sheer respect for her, even seeing the worst a human being can be she still chose to try the very best to see what is good in a person, and when she realized there wasn't anything good about HIM she decided she wasn't going to let anyone else have control over what happens to her other then herself. EDIT: The fact so many people liked this is proof that she deserves a reward. If the Video Game Rewards were more generous to indie she would be a shoe in for anything.
Also the fact she single-handedly kept Curly in a somewhat stable condition for over four months with limited and low quality supplies. That's genuinely incredible
Curly having to see it happen to her felt symbolic considering how he did nothing when she told him what was happening to her, and just like that now even if he wanted to do something he was helpless, just watching her go.
I had assumed that Anya was trying to brute force the combination on the gun safe and shoot herself. Since time was running out due to Jimmy and Daisuke, Anya chose the alternative and potentially slower approach of overdosing herself to death. I thought this because the drawer under Curly is open, and Anya was the one who placed it there originally. Anyone else agree?
I did wonder how Jimmy found the case's hiding place. Was it Anya? Was she going to defend herself before she realised the futility of living on the Tulpar with only one cryopod, so she opted for the pills? Was she going to kill Curly and then herself? Was Curly the one who opened the drawer - unlikely, because that would be a death sentence for all of them. Did Jimmy find the drawer while hurting Curly? Each possibility has its own meaning...
Why did she close herself off with Curly though potentially leaving him to die unless Daisuke attempts to crawl into the room and harm himself when she dies? With her desire "to let go" she condemns one and potentially two to a slow or excruciating death.
You did exactly what game did. In past videos, you made a nice look where everything is fine, everything is wholesome. And then, suddenly you hit us hard with that tragedy. This is genius, I once again feel bad like I'm playing the game again
The fact that this is so heartwrenching for me, gosh the voice acting, the animation, it almost looks like an official movie or a cutscene if Mouthwashing ever had one! VoiceQuill’s voice is so talented!
this is depressing as hell but anya's voice is so perfect for her and voiced in such a raw way (not to mention animated so well) that this is like. straight out of a movie. my jaw dropped when her voice started breaking, like i genuinely did not anticipate how real this would sound. holy hell you guys did fantastic
“Yeah..I can hear you jimmy :/“ Her voice says it all 🤣💀 Great acting 🔥 At this point she’d rather end it all than have to deal with Jimmy for another minute. Honestly I don’t blame her lol Seems reasonsble 😂
amazing voice acting, i got goosebumps the second they started speaking, and with the amazing animation, this makes everything even more heartbreaking god i hate jimmy
Somehow I really wish for an epilogue story for this game. Imagine a story from the perspective of a space SAR team that discovers Tulpar ship after a year of search and unfortunately has a relation with one of the crew.
If anything that would be probably Daisuke's mother/parents. He even was scared of that she would blame herself for putting him on this job. Though Curly won't be able to tell her what really happened, since he can't even move his mouth (we basically do that the whole game for him).
The voice acting is so well done in this. The resolve in Anya's voice. There's no bitterness really, and it doesn't even feel like resignation. Just stating facts calmly while Jimmy is being... Jimmy. She deserved so much better. Low key wish that we'd gotten to see Daisuke finding her though. (also, sorry you had to animate Jimmy)
It's must have been very traumatzing for curly seeing anya the person who took care of him despite thinking he crashed the ship, take her own life Especially when you consider that his Nativity and bias for Jimmy led to this situation He must feel really *RESPONSIBLE* for this
More traumatazing than being being in constant agony for 4 months, knowing that he gave Jim green light on killing everyone and was just a little too late to stop him?
I don't wanna void how Anya felt, but imagine how Curly must have felt during this. The person he promised he would help is now killing herself right in front of him, and he's too in pain to even speak up.
You know what pisses me off more than anything? I don’t remember Jimmy ever showing remorse for what he did to Anna. He was only ever concerned about the child, the problems the child would cause and how mich trouble he would get in. He was fucking self centered right to his core. Every step of the way.
Great interpretation of this scene, really shows the helplessness of the situation but really hammers in how Jimmy’s attempts at “fixing” things just drive people away from him or leads to worse actions. It really sounded like despite his words, Jimmy was forcing Anya to take her life.
I loved this so much! The only thing I would've liked to see is her trying to open the gun case. I think that's what she tried first before the pills, since the drawer was opened when Jimmy got in there.
Couldn't believe all these characters were voiced by one person. VoiceQuillls' got amazing vocal range! Thought they were all voiced by different people initially till I read the description

@@FredBstar3Ki agree, it's also important to consider that they were all stuck on a tiny metal boat floating in space and working for a capitalist organization and that jimmy as co-pilot was a crucial member of the crew - this isn't a way to say "jimmy was needed so that excuses him", rather that curly WAS powerless about jimmy. there wasn't much he could do on the ship. maybe he did have plans to do something about jimmy and help anya as soon as they returned home. besides, from Curly's POV we see how jimmy is constantly manipulating and gaslighting him, making him feel guilty over things he has no control over, so Curly's state of mind must've been all over the place.
I wonder how she would have acted if J*mmy wasn’t there saying such harsh things. If it were just daisuke coming to comfort her and ask her to help out, that he’d be there to protect and support her like a good friend and coworker, I wonder if she’d have done it.

Now, Jimmy has the gun, and Anya sacrificed the last of Curly's pain medication in vain. She took the worst way out and deprived Curly of anything that would dull his agony just to keep Jimmy from obtaining a gun that he then was forced to watch Jimmy obtain. It's such an overly cruel turn of events that I'd probably break and laugh at my own misery too.

Let's think about it: Lack of concern and safety for the crewmembers especially based on the general state of the ship model, the Tulpar. The sheer micromanaging of using ingredients to make food and delegating it to the Captain with strict rules. A lack of background screening that led to Jimmy (who is theorized to have been an ex-convict), and even their whole news of firing everyone but Curly, the "only useful guy worth promoting."
Textbook shitty workplace environment on drugs.

Ive never played the game but its already hitting to close to home with that even though Im not a woman its crazy how relatable that is.
the fact that her death was barely acknowledged by Jimmy (which is POV’d to us the player) says a lot about how much care Jimmy had for her: none.

Fun fact about this scene in game:
Attempting to use no clip to get into the room will result in the same heavy visual distortion as what you see when going into the room with Swansea just after
Going to say, for as much of an emotional rollercoaster as Anya's dialogue is, I love that we now have a voice for Jimmy.

I’ll take care of it… the catchphrase that Jimmy himself always uses.
If that isn’t the biggest “take that, bastard”, I don’t know what is.
I adore how this was animated. the scene mostly focusing on Anya, and HER- she has control over this situation and she is taking the chance...
Or it was to get the gun and make jimmy pay...

This scene sent shivers down my spine and seeing it animated adds on to it
"you want to come with me Curly? ...Oh well, a captain must go down with the ship, no?"
Anya didnt deserve any of that shit
Somehow I really wish for an epilogue story for this game. Imagine a story from the perspective of a space SAR team that discovers Tulpar ship after a year of search and unfortunately has a relation with one of the crew.
If anything that would be probably Daisuke's mother/parents. He even was scared of that she would blame herself for putting him on this job. Though Curly won't be able to tell her what really happened, since he can't even move his mouth (we basically do that the whole game for him).
“You can’t go breaking down at every small moment!”
JIMMY YOU LITERALLY GRAPED HER
The voice acting is so well done in this. The resolve in Anya's voice. There's no bitterness really, and it doesn't even feel like resignation. Just stating facts calmly while Jimmy is being... Jimmy. She deserved so much better. Low key wish that we'd gotten to see Daisuke finding her though.

Insanely beautiful directing, I’d love to watch a full movie in this animation style

I don’t remember Jimmy ever showing remorse for what he did to Anna. He was only ever concerned about the child, the problems the child would cause and how mich trouble he would get in.
He was fucking self centered right to his core. Every step of the way.
Worse, He showed some kind of remorse in his allucinations for everyone but her,
Great interpretation of this scene, really shows the helplessness of the situation but really hammers in how Jimmy’s attempts at “fixing” things just drive people away from him or leads to worse actions. It really sounded like despite his words, Jimmy was forcing Anya to take her life.
