This movie was the direct inspiration for Dragnet. Jack Webb, who plays a police lab technician here (first credited movie appearance) and was then doing a private detective series on radio, got a suggestion from LAPD Officer Martin Wynn, who was one of the film's technical advisers, to create a radio police procedural drama based on actual case files of the LAPD. The whole Dragnet story template derives from this movie.
I love all movies I saw this a long time ago and freaked out that is a serious Psychopathic genius criminal and that was a true story from back then in LA they wouldn't have caught him if you wouldn't have shot that cop if you want to smash that car up they might not have caught him for a long time
I saw this in 1952 in Derry along with the women who came back both nerve wracking movies, never forgot, never will.j c.
Happy to find this early film noir, thanks!
