I'm ancient enough to remember the original B&W movies from the 1950s with Alastair Sim as Miss Fritton. I kept asking my mom if we could move to England so I could go to St Trinian's. She was horrified. These updated versions are wonderful and so true to the spirit of the school. And nothing lifts your spirits like singing the school song.
The makeover scene was a reverse princess diaries! This movie affected my aesthetic for at least a year, and had me wearing stockings with skirts, heels, ties etc

Immediate like. Dropped everything I was doing the moment I saw this in my suggested because St Trinian's is without doubt one of the most underrated movies I've ever seen and deserves soo much more love and attention than it seems to get.

Including Blue Murder At St. Trinians, Pure Hell Of St. Trinians and Wild Cats Of St. Trinians! All inspired by the cartoons of Ronald Searle that started in the 1940s.

The second movie, to me, is bad. The girls are boring, Annabelle is barely there, there's a pirate treasure and the FBI, a cult, the boy's school. It's just random stuff from begining to end. There's no plot, the music is not memorable. I didn't like it! Saw it one time, it's enough 😐

ooh, yes... you must do BBCs Pride & Prejudice. It also has Anna Chanellor who played the headmistress of the other school in the first film... She always seems to play the possible love interest of Colin Firth but never gets him in the end (also see What a Girl Wants).
I've seen these movies so many times, I love them so much haha and as someone who grew up with them, I will say along with high school musical, D.E.B.S, wild child etc; they gave me unrealistic expectations for high school and I'll forever be disappointed that this wasn't my school experience😂

Lotta great underrated actresses in St Trinians. Ex Mrs Elon Musk and now Mrs Thomas Brodie-Sangster Talulah Riley (also in Dr Who), Tamsin Egerton, Gemma Artherton, Amara Karan and Lily Cole (both also have Who episodes) and Juno Temple. Amazing cast of young ladies.
It aged badly with Russel Brand and Tallullah Riley's involvement, but it's still a fun time if you can look past that. However, if you're brave and want to see more of the same kind of thing, then this wasn't the first St. Trinian's film. There's a film series which ran from 1954 to 1966, and the first time they tried rebooting was in 1980. There's 5 films in total before the 2007 one. They're older, obviously, and are different in all the ways that implies, but they very definitely all have the same DNA.

I saw the first movie when it came out in theatres with my mum and cousin. So much fun. There was a bunch of girls a few years older than me sitting in the front rows who were enjoying the movie as much as us and when it came to the scene at the end when Geoffrey was in Camilla’s bed they all started squealing when the actors leaned in to kiss, lol. (This was 2007 thus “gay” stuff was a bit more gross and cringey then.) The music really did fit the vibe - I use to find the songs on TH-cam, turn it up and pretend I went to the school too 😂😅 Ah, good times. Quickly bought it and still put it on regularly. I didn’t know about the sequel until years after it had come out and I watched it with mum on TH-cam with truly crappy quality. I didn’t like it as much but I still had fun. Loved David Tennant then as well and he was the main reason why I enjoyed the sequel.

I recommend the original 1954 Bells of St Trinians, not as sophisticated as the newer movies but just as anarchic, I think you’ll enjoy it too.

It's a shame they didnt do better, as an update/reboot to the 50's and 60's Trinian's films they're both great. Maybe we're due a new reboot.
