I was a teen on the beach when one of my boobs slipped out of my bikini. It was the first (and last) time I ever wore a string bikini, so I was unused to the challenge of keeping the bits in place. A woman I didn't know suddenly appeared directly next to me, like REALLY close, and I was like "um, hi?" She said as quietly as she could "your top. Fix your top." As I was fixing my top, I realized why she was standing so close - there was a group of skeezy dudes a little further down the beach who had been ogling me, and she was blocking me from their view, staring them down while she alerted me to the problem. In my mind, THAT is how you respond when you think a minor's body is exposed.
Or anyone's body. I am a middle school teacher and I was in my mid thirties when I had an EXTREMELY ebarrassing wardrobe malfunction. I had just been on a trip where the other passengers stuffed their luggage on top of mine in the trunk during the car rid ehome. They had a bottle of wine in their luggage that broke and destroyed EVERYTHING in my bad; I couldn't not get the stains out and had to throw away several thousands worth of clothing. The culprits refused to reimbursed me. Anyway, as a result I was short on clothes on had to dig into a pile of discarded clothes in poor condition (it was difficult to get times in at thecomplez' laundry room and some asshat had thrown away several loads of my clothes the previous time I did laundry). I had ordered new clothe sbut they wouldn't be arriving for a few more days. So, I was dressed in a very old skirt and as I walking down this corridor filled with kids aged 12- 16 I suddenly felt how the elastic around the waist snapped. Two seconds later the elastic in my panties decide dthat they also had had enough and there I was, with my panties and skirt on the ground and my naked ass and well, front, on display. I completely froze from embarrassment. This was almost 20 years ago - today I would have gone viral as someone surely would have picked up their phone and filmed the funny video of the fat teacher who dropped her clothes har har - but for some weird reason only two 13 year girls noticed what happened out of the probably 80+ students. They were by my side within milliseconds; one in front of me and the other behind, blocking me from view as they helped me get my clothes back on and comforted me. I am eternally grateful for those two angels. And yes, the skirt and panties went straight in the trash when I came home. That school for whatever reason was were all my worst experiences as a teacher took place; I had worked there a few years previously when I went to work with food poisoning. It's a long story but my students were freaking out over the exam I had scheduled for that day and I HAD to be there to comfort them. Bwaha. We had just started the the exam when my students informed me that my face was green. And then I became violently ill and puked all over the room. Truly horrendous, but the kids were very sweet. They did fine at the exam too.
Had a teacher do the same with my school skirt - gone to the bathroom and my skirt got stuck to my skipants/inner short (what I wore under my school skirt like sport skirts too) - HE pulled me aside and softly told me that I should fix my skirt. I didn’t feel uncomfortable and he handled it very professionally. No unnecessary comments or drama, just assistance.
When I was 20 I had a woman in a grocery store aisle call me a slut for the shorts I was wearing. I just remember everyone else in the grocery aisle staring at me as she berated me. She told me my mom must have raised me wrong and I needed to find Jesus. I was mortified and she only left after her daughter begged her to stop. I started crying and then this other sweet woman came up and said “Honey, don’t listen to her. You can’t fix stupid. You look just fine.” And she hugged me. I think about that woman sometimes and I hope she’s doing well.
I always was terrified of looking "slutty" so i dressed as a boy my whole teenage years. But one time my mom bought me a beautiful LONG dress. I had my neighbor pull that on me a week ago and I'm 33, but I'm short and I guess people think I'm younger than I am. It was like, 100 degrees out. As a German, I find it extremely strange that young people in the USA are treated like children and patronized by adults for a very long time, and on the other hand the bodies of small children are sexualized to such an extent that even three-year-old girls cover their (nonexistent) breasts when bathing in public. In Germany, children of that age often go completely naked on the beach and people think it’s normal. Because it is. Do you really have to protect a ten-year-old from looking up a young girl's skirt and seeing her underwear? Will he be traumatized otherwise, or what? And anyone who actually thinks they have to be that "protective" should cover the boy's eyes and keep their hands off the young lady's skirt! In Germany, children grow up largely without this exaggerated sexualization of human bodies, and I believe it does them no harm at all. By the time I was ten, I had already seen countless stark naked adults, and today I am neither a sex addict nor a criminal... or whatever else the Idas of this world might suspect.
For the young toddler bathing suit thing (etc), I just think it’s better to be safe than sorry. Some people just don’t give a shit about what’s wrong vs right. As a retired CPS investigator, I don't think Ida realizes a call to CPS would be against her not the teen girls. Ida is the one responsible for his care not the girls. I inherited GAD and MDD from my father who unallved himself when I was 10. My anxiety at that point had triggered my seizure disorder. My mother (after being informed by my neurologists that my seizures were being worsened by my ridiculous anxiety) had me in a therapist's office so quick, but my stubborn, social anxiety-ridden, self wouldn't speak. Eventually I went on my own, and have been in therapy/psychiatric care for almost 25 years. It's not easy baring the thoughts and emotions you don't even want to admit to yourself, let alone to someone else. However, for most people (more than people want to admit), it's necessary to be OK. OK is great, which is something many NTs can't understand- which is also OK, as long as they acknowledge and accept it and us. Not a fan of sideline diagnosis, but speculating for speculation sake (we cuckoos have the "sight"😂) I also thought BPD initially, but maybe HPD? BD has similar traits, but going so far as to assault a teen, who vacillates between child/adult depending on how you're telling your story, seems more HPD-level jealously/insecurity. At my brothers wedding like 10+ years ago. I was underage and my back of my dress had gone up. One of my brother friends had come up and whispered that my dress had come up a bit. She ASKED ME before pulling the bottom of my dress down for me since I was busy getting pictures. There no butt touching or anything. She didn't make a scene to make me feel embarrassed or anything. She was super nice and helpful about it. This Karen is just wild to do and make a scene.

Like I will always ask for help getting tag flipped down on the back of a shirt. A funny story that my mom experienced was when she was traveling in the 80s. She was in Japan at a supermarket and had gone to the bathroom. While she had buckled the top of her skirt, she had forgotten to zip it and her slip was visible. She said that a man in the store practically ran from her to get a female staff who tried her hardest to convey to my mom English only speaking mom what happened. Thankfully my mom was able to zip her skirt and ends the story by saying that it felt like the whole store sighed in relief XD
I had an elderly coworker who always thought it was okay to adjust our uniforms without telling asking consent. She would pull up my pants or tuck in my shirt, and I chewed her out for it every time. Management never took it seriously because she was a “sweet old lady”. Don’t fucking touch me. If I need help with my uniform I’ll ask.

When I was in fifth grade I had a camisole strap sticking out of my tee shirt sleeve (I didn’t have bra’s yet) and my teacher walked up to me and grabbed the strap and harshly shoved it back under the shirt with her whole hand. She was then pretty mad at me for being “immodest”. It was a religious school but the shock of an adult shoving their hand in my shirt to make me be more modest has never left my memory. Truly this kind of purity aggression from older women to younger women and girls is not at all uncommon.

I used to be a Karen. So difficult to admit. In my early 50s I suddenly realised what an awful pers I was. I began to realise that young people are just fab. I know it's not the same thing, but what you said just gave me a flashback to when I was 10 years old and going to a haunted house with my friend. There were these people in demon masks with long tongues hanging out and it was the first time I had ever seen a mask like that. I asked this one person if I could pet their tongue cause I just wanted to know if it felt like a rubbery mask or if it was like paper mache or something. I was never treated worse when I was in my teens and twenties than by jealous older women. Now that I’m a mom in my thirties, I will always be kind and supportive of younger women. Especially when state agencies here almost always have an employee roster and usually has links to their linkedin profiles which usually contain photos. Its not hard to track down state employees here in Utah if you know what you're doing lol
also, she wasn't "Doxxed". there is a big difference between the act of randomly sharing people's exact address for the purposes of harassment, and ID'ing someone who _assaulted_ you so they can be held accountable by the law and their employer can remove a liability from their company/organization. in this case, ida was a complete moron and literally ratted herself out directly to police, but in most of these kind of incidents, these sociopaths slink off into the shadows never to be held accountable only to do the same thing or worse within 3-6 months to somebody else. let's all just hope Ida's narcissistic self can't make it a year without karening out again, so they can hit her with the appropriate correctives that she got a pass on, and put her on a list with all the other abusive pre-verts.
Not to mention almost all social media sites have heavy privacy settings available. She can have a lot of that info posted only for her friends, have it where only certain people can message her at all etc. maybe shes too old to know how to control Facebook settings but its not hard. I am a 59(!) year old mother of a 16 year old. Do I always love the way she and her friends dress? No. Do I shame and demean them? Also no. It is different times, and girls are fiercely in charge of their own bodies and what they put on them, and I do love that! The only time I might say anything is if the outfit is not appropriate for where we are going. This has happened once in her whole life (it was my work function), and we had a respectful conversation. No one has the right to tell someone else how to dress. Our society has a very strange issue of not seeing some SA as "valid" SA. Whenever the victim is a man or a woman attacking another women, some people just dont see it as an issue.

I'm Australian - I've HEARD (never experienced) of this thing called 'no shirt no service'. Which basically means if you're inappropriately dressed for the restaurant, staff will stop you at the door and ask you to leave and come back appropriately dressed. I've never seen it happen, i think it's reserved for really specific situations like 'hey you can't wear flip flops (we call them thongs, you get the point) in this five star restaurant. Please come back wearing closed shoes. But essentially, if a girl walks in wearing something you think is inappropriate but she isn't stopped by staff, you can't do shit. It's not your call. Go sit somewhere else. I just feel bad for the girl though honestly. This might sit with her every time she gets ready for a fun night out, and it shouldn't. I hope the internet turning on this woman helps alleviate some of the damage
I've only ever seen "no shirt no service" as a very literal rule, usually for restaurants on beachfront property because some people will go straight from the beach to a nearby restaurant wearing nothing but their swimsuit and still dripping with seawater.
I've only seen this once ... and in Australia. Something like a hundred years ago (well, 1984) I was travelling thru Australia, and in a pub in Darwin. This pub had a "no shoes, no shirt, no service" rule. People in the upstairs verandah bar were throwing their t-shirts and thongs (flipflops) to their friends waiting outside.

Women for wearing underwear and stockings and calling them pants and men for skimpy shirts that don’t cover enough. Its not about how often it’s enforced, I’m saying every venue has a dress code. You can’t go to an RSL with thongs/sandals or hats etc. clubs in QLD refuse based on bikie clothing or tattoos. It’s common knowledge here

As a Utah resident, this sort of extreme judgement and sense of ownership of young women is not surprising. I used to live near a highschool and I would see students walking to school. On a really cold winter morning, I was walking to the bus stop to head to work. A highschool girl walked by me with a mini skirt. I shook my head thinking the poor girl was going to freeze. But I didn't say anything. I once had that happen to me (skirt stuck in my underwear) as I was merrily walking up to the local elementary school to pick up my kid. Bless the woman who immediately jumped into action and let me know. Thanks for this one, Swoop. I was assaulted by an older woman who randomly started fondling my butt while working as a waitress. I was so young, and in such shock, its taken me years and years to realise it was assault and to understand the grossness I felt afterwards was completely valid.

As someone whose body was policed a lot as a kid, I didn't realise I had bodlily autonomy until I was 25 when I realised I didn't have to ask anyone if I wanted to get a tattoo. I moved out at 18, and married my soulmate at 19, but somehow my mom was still in my head controlling my life. The constant scrutiny and "well meaning" comments and watchful eyes just never seemed to end.

As an ex-mormon, I agree. I have had people touch me growing up without my consent, for minor things like, fixing my bra strap, or putting my tag into my shirt. It always made me uncomfortable as a kid, especially being autistic and not liking it when people touch me for the most part. That being said, most of my family is still mormon, and still know better than to touch someone without asking first. It's just all too common unfortunately at church for some reason, especially with older crowds.

I’m the same, ex-Mormon but have a lot of family still in the church and know they would never dream of doing such things and were not happy when those people would step out of line. Also, like you said, definitely seems the older generations sadly that are entitled and think they have the right to do these things and especially with young girls because girls always seem to “be the problem” 🙄.

I was a teen on the beach when one of my boobs slipped out of my bikini. It was the first (and last) time I ever wore a string bikini, so I was unused to the challenge of keeping the bits in place. A woman I didn't know suddenly appeared directly next to me, like REALLY close, and I was like "um, hi?" She said as quietly as she could "your top. Fix your top." As I was fixing my top, I realized why she was standing so close - there was a group of skeezy dudes a little further down the beach who had been ogling me, and she was blocking me from their view, staring them down while she alerted me to the problem. In my mind, THAT is how you respond when you think a minor's body is exposed.

I am a middle school teacher and I was in my mid thirties when I had an EXTREMELY ebarrassing wardrobe malfunction. I had just been on a trip where the other passengers stuffed their luggage on top of mine in the trunk during the car rid ehome. They had a bottle of wine in their luggage that broke and destroyed EVERYTHING in my bad; I couldn't not get the stains out and had to throw away several thousands worth of clothing. The culprits refused to reimbursed me.
Anyway, as a result I was short on clothes on had to dig into a pile of discarded clothes in poor condition (it was difficult to get times in at thecomplez' laundry room and some asshat had thrown away several loads of my clothes the previous time I did laundry). I had ordered new clothe sbut they wouldn't be arriving for a few more days. So, I was dressed in a very old skirt and as I walking down this corridor filled with kids aged 12- 16 I suddenly felt how the elastic around the waist snapped. Two seconds later the elastic in my panties decide dthat they also had had enough and there I was, with my panties and skirt on the ground and my naked ass and well, front, on display.
I completely froze from embarrassment. This was almost 20 years ago - today I would have gone viral as someone surely would have picked up their phone and filmed the funny video of the fat teacher who dropped her clothes har har - but for some weird reason only two 13 year girls noticed what happened out of the probably 80+ students. They were by my side within milliseconds; one in front of me and the other behind, blocking me from view as they helped me get my clothes back on and comforted me. I am eternally grateful for those two angels.
And yes, the skirt and panties went straight in the trash when I came home. That school for whatever reason was were all my worst experiences as a teacher took place; I had worked there a few years previously when I went to work with food poisoning. It's a long story but my students were freaking out over the exam I had scheduled for that day and I HAD to be there to comfort them. Bwaha. We had just started the the exam when my students informed me that my face was green. And then I became violently ill and puked all over the room. Truly horrendous, but the kids were very sweet. They did fine at the exam too.

Had a teacher do the same with my school skirt - gone to the bathroom and my skirt got stuck to my skipants/inner short (what I wore under my school skirt like sport skirts too) - HE pulled me aside and softly told me that I should fix my skirt. As a German, I find it extremely strange that young people in the USA are treated like children and patronized by adults for a very long time, and on the other hand the bodies of small children are sexualized to such an extent that even three-year-old girls cover their (nonexistent) breasts when bathing in public. In Germany, children of that age often go completely naked on the beach and people think it’s normal. Because it is.

Our society doesn't consider children, including teens, to have any bodily autonomy at all. As far as this woman was concerned, she had every right to touch this person BECAUSE she believed she was a minor. She, the adult in the situation, was allowed to reprimand this person in a physical way because she was the authority figure between the two, and due to her youth, the victim deserved zero dignity. I inherited GAD and MDD from my father who unallved himself when I was 10. My anxiety at that point had triggered my seizure disorder. My mother (after being informed by my neurologists that my seizures were being worsened by my ridiculous anxiety) had me in a therapist's office so quick, but my stubborn, social anxiety-ridden, self wouldn't speak. Eventually I went on my own, and have been in therapy/psychiatric care for almost 25 years. It's not easy baring the thoughts and emotions you don't even want to admit to yourself, let alone to someone else. However, for most people (more than people want to admit), it's necessary to be OK. At my brothers wedding like 10+ years ago. I was underage and my back of my dress had gone up. One of my brother friends had come up and whispered that my dress had come up a bit. A funny story that my mom experienced was when she was traveling in the 80s. She was in Japan at a supermarket and had gone to the bathroom. While she had buckled the top of her skirt, she had forgotten to zip it and her slip was visible. She said that a man in the store practically ran from her to get a female staff who tried her hardest to convey to my mom English only speaking mom what happened. Thankfully my mom was able to zip her skirt and ends the story by saying that it felt like the whole store sighed in relief XD

When I was in fifth grade I had a camisole strap sticking out of my tee shirt sleeve (I didn’t have bra’s yet) and my teacher walked up to me and grabbed the strap and harshly shoved it back under the shirt with her whole hand. She was then pretty mad at me for being “immodest”. It was a religious school but the shock of an adult shoving their hand in my shirt to make me be more modest has never left my memory. Truly this kind of purity aggression from older women to younger women and girls is not at all uncommon.

I know it's not the same thing, but what you said just gave me a flashback to when I was 10 years old and going to a haunted house with my friend. There were these people in demon masks with long tongues hanging out and it was the first time I had ever seen a mask like that. I was never treated worse when I was in my teens and twenties than by jealous older women. Now that I’m a mom in my thirties, I will always be kind and supportive of younger women. in this case, ida was a complete moron and literally ratted herself out directly to police, but in most of these kind of incidents, these sociopaths slink off into the shadows never to be held accountable only to do the same thing or worse within 3-6 months to somebody else.

Not to mention almost all social media sites have heavy privacy settings available. She can have a lot of that info posted only for her friends, have it where only certain people can message her at all etc. maybe shes too old to know how to control Facebook settings but its not hard. If you dont want to be found online, limit everything, especially websites like LinkedIn and indeed, people can get a lot of info off of websites that aren't social media.

I am a 59(!) year old mother of a 16 year old. Do I always love the way she and her friends dress? No. Do I shame and demean them? Also no. It is different times, and girls are fiercely in charge of their own bodies and what they put on them, and I do love that! The only time I might say anything is if the outfit is not appropriate for where we are going. This has happened once in her whole life (it was my work function), and we had a respectful conversation. No one has the right to tell someone else how to dress. Our society has a very strange issue of not seeing some SA as "valid" SA. Whenever the victim is a man or a woman attacking another women, some people just dont see it as an issue.
Sadly, some people (still?!) think SA is only SA if it is a man attacking a woman, and any other combination is, at best, ignored (or, often in cases of a woman attacking a man, disgustingly glorified).
I'm Australian - I've HEARD (never experienced) of this thing called 'no shirt no service'. Which basically means if you're inappropriately dressed for the restaurant, staff will stop you at the door and ask you to leave and come back appropriately dressed. I've never seen it happen, i think it's reserved for really specific situations like 'hey you can't wear flip flops (we call them thongs, you get the point) in this five star restaurant. Please come back wearing closed shoes.
But essentially, if a girl walks in wearing something you think is inappropriate but she isn't stopped by staff, you can't do shit. It's not your call. Go sit somewhere else.
I just feel bad for the girl though honestly. This might sit with her every time she gets ready for a fun night out, and it shouldn't. I hope the internet turning on this woman helps alleviate some of the damage
I've only ever seen "no shirt no service" as a very literal rule, usually for restaurants on beachfront property because some people will go straight from the beach to a nearby restaurant wearing nothing but their swimsuit and still dripping with seawater.

Something like a hundred years ago (well, 1984) I was travelling thru Australia, and in a pub in Darwin. This pub had a "no shoes, no shirt, no service" rule. People in the upstairs verandah bar were throwing their t-shirts and thongs (flipflops) to their friends waiting outside.

Women for wearing underwear and stockings and calling them pants and men for skimpy shirts that don’t cover enough. Its not about how often it’s enforced, I’m saying every venue has a dress code. You can’t go to an RSL with thongs/sandals or hats etc. clubs in QLD refuse based on bikie clothing or tattoos. It’s common knowledge here

I used to live near a highschool and I would see students walking to school. On a really cold winter morning, I was walking to the bus stop to head to work. A highschool girl walked by me with a mini skirt. I shook my head thinking the poor girl was going to freeze. But I didn't say anything. It was none of my business and I was busy trying to get to work on time. I couldn't imagine being so bored with your life that you have to harass people.

Even if it was the classic “skirt stuck in the underwear” scenario and the full bum was visible it’s still not acceptable to put your hands on someone else’s body. All she had to do was say “hey excuse me, idk if you know but your skirt is riding up and we can see your butt” it would have taken like 5 seconds and saved that girl so much embarrassment. I once had that happen to me (skirt stuck in my underwear) as I was merrily walking up to the local elementary school to pick up my kid. Bless the woman who immediately jumped into action and let me know. She was the first person to see me after I got out of my car, so she saved me a lot of potential humiliation in front of a huge cluster of parents.

As someone whose body was policed a lot as a kid, I didn't realise I had bodlily autonomy until I was 25 when I realised I didn't have to ask anyone if I wanted to get a tattoo. I moved out at 18, and married my soulmate at 19, but somehow my mom was still in my head controlling my life. The constant scrutiny and "well meaning" comments and watchful eyes just never seemed to end.

As an ex-mormon, I agree. I have had people touch me growing up without my consent, for minor things like, fixing my bra strap, or putting my tag into my shirt. It always made me uncomfortable as a kid, especially being autistic and not liking it when people touch me for the most part. That being said, most of my family is still mormon, and still know better than to touch someone without asking first. It's just all too common unfortunately at church for some reason, especially with older crowds.

This whole situation definitely could have been handled better or she could have just minded her own business.
