Yeah, why not make it customizable? I skipped this year for the first time in ages just because I can't stand jellyfish, haha. There's something about them that gives me a strong aversion. Knowing I'd hate it every time I used the palette, I just couldn't justify spending $90. Other palettes might work, but some blushes are just too bright for my skin tone.

You're so right. Packaging is EVERYTHING. For example, my husband cannot buy any other canned tomato brand unless it's S&W because of how "inviting" the look of the packaging is🤣 True story. When I buy off brand, or store brand, and he's watching me use it he'll say something. He could care less about name brands, truly, but, it's all about the S&W looks better so it must be better😆😆😆 He kills me with that stupid can🤣 P.S. Good luck on keeping them out of your cart. Would love a cooler toned bronzer from HG. Also, it's s been the year of blushes so what an opportunity to go all out and give us a strawberry red, lavender or rich magenta, Barbie/ cool toned pink, rosey brown, just to suggest a few.
This is exactly what I was hoping for. The blush market has been off the hook this year with amazing colors and formulas. The packaging almost sucked me in, but take away those pretty designs, and this is just another boring tired, unimaginative color story with impeccable formulae. Which seems to be hourglass as a brand in a nutshell these days

I absolutely adored last year’s Elephant palette and was hoping to fall in love with a version from this year… but I just kept looking at photos and watching first impression videos without pulling the trigger. Everyone has been initially raving and I couldn’t figure out why! They’re just so similar to last year! I didn’t even notice how similar the first two palettes are to each other, either. Thank you for this video. It was helpful. I wear 335 in Fenty, 4N2 in Estee Lauder, 44.5 MAC powder foundation, and M18 in PML. Last year, I purchased Elephant and Tiger and all the shades in both work for me. Ironically, the bronzer in one worked as a contour, which was great because I'd use the bronzer in the other as a bronzer. I plan to get Snake this year. Radiant Light is a repeat shade that I have and I get a lot of use out of it, so I'd be happy to have it in Snake. This would be my 3rd Hourglass face palette, and all the shades will work for my complexion, both as stand-alones and in combination with each other. I can understand the frustration for those who have a lot of the brand’s face palettes and powders in general.

I am a bit deeper in skin tone. I am a 345 in fenty. I’ve never had an hourglass palette or powder but I think the snake palette will be perfect. I skipped the tiger palette last year because of some of the orangey shades.

Totally agree with you. I stopped buying all palettes they release since 3 years ago. Now I just limit myself to 1 and the one that I feel is worth it. Last year I got tiger, this year I got the deeper palette with the tiger packaging. They need to stop repeating shades over and over. How about a true peach blush? A cool pink blush? Just new variety of colors!!! Face and eye would be awesome! Thanks for being honest. Other channels just go crazy over the packaging and start recommending…
The packaging is adorable. But, if consumers have palettes from last year, these palettes will sit in their drawers and barely get used. They need to come up with something more unique. Since I don’t have any of these hourglass palettes nor many hourglass products in general, I am actually really interested in the Jellyfish palette because it looks like one I can actually wear on my very fair cool skin. Most hourglass palettes in the past seem too dark for me or the wrong undertone. I see your point though for people who already have many of the palettes. I think this year I might get a couple of them.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Tara Lynn keeps it real, and I stopped watching the TH-camrs who rave over everything designer and have a monthly "favorites" video of literally everything they reviewed with affiliate links. You can even tell when they're lying because they'll apply some dusty blush with no pigment and say "I love how it's buildable." 🤣
Tara ur amazing. I love ur honesty as to why ur my favourite. I missed last years holiday (I kicked myself for not getting the Tiger last year) so I wanted the snake. but I saw a review and as I suspected, it pulled an orange tone. I have a medium skin tone but I know it would have been too warm esp when winter is coming up. I hate having to be “careful” when applying blushes. It sucks the fun out. However, I think the repeat shades are great to those who missed last years palettes bc we can’t get them anymore. Esp to those who don’t even have hourglass singles. Yes they are repeat to collectors but to those that are not and missed out, it’s great. I think this is why Hourglass goes this. Thanks for the review Tara, I hope u feel better ❤️

Thank you so much for this review! I've only tried Hourglass once before, and I wasn't impressed at all with the Mood Exposure blush. It gave a lot of...nothing...as far as pigmentation went. I was considering giving the brand a second chance when I saw these palettes, but your excellent review paused me in my tracks. Love how thorough these swatch pics are. I'm fair-light & cool toned, I do tan in the summer. I got the jellyfish palette and I absolutely love it. I have the butterfly palette I don't reach for it much anymore because I generally prefer the pink blush. I got the leopard palette too. I love that enough to buy another one for my mom because I don't want to part with it, but for me and my skin tone jellyfish takes the cake and I've never loved powders more. I also really love the gold highlight that's in both the butterfly and leopard and I like that I can use them all liberally because I have repeats of three of my favorites. I'm all good now, I don't need anymore hourglass anything. I feel like if you're going to drop money, drop it on powders because they last where creams and liquids dry out and go rancid, but if possible, just spring for the ONE that best fits your skin type. The hourglass powders are definitely a look, they have a certain type of fine glitter to them, no matter what the shade & to your point, you only need so much of one kind of thing.

I have a couple individual blushes from Hourglass, but I've never purchased on of these palettes. I am quite fair, so I've ordered Jellyfish and I am excited to receive it! I almost pulled the trigger on Butterfly last year, but I don't use highlighters and that had two highlighters where the Jellyfish only has one and added a bronzer so I think this will suit me better!
If you don't have last year's palettes, you'll enjoy the Jellyfish. The Blushes are different finishes. One is more satin, and one is more Ambient Glow, even though they're the same shade, i think you'll enjoy the palette overall🌸🌸 Thanks for watching🩷

Thank you for your review. I bought the Ghost palette several years ago and I enjoy it but don’t feel the need to ever purchase another one of these as they are all very similar.
There were so many repeat shades this year. Last year I bought the Tiger palette and then got the elephant when it was heavily discounted. This year I only got the Snake palette because it has new shades. You’re right, Hourglass definitely has the same pink tone over and over and over. That’s why I liked the snake and tiger. That being said, I have fair skin and as long as I’m careful, I can use those pigmented blushes. Honestly, I loved the blush and sculpt palettes they came out with this year and am thrilled I picked those up, especially after the sculpt one immediately sold out. I use these constantly when I go away, so they’re worth it to me.
Hi, I am brand new to hou glass and don’t own anything of theirs yet so I ordered the leopard since I am medium to tan skintone. I think even though there’s only one new color it won’t matter to me as I think they all look pretty and will look good on my skin. Thank you for the review.
I really want a hourglass palette but it bugs me they put two of same blush shades…. I dont understand why ??? I would love a palette with one warm blush and one cool blush….
They do have a different finish, but one has that Ambient Glow, and one is more of a satin finish, but still has a glow. And, the one with the marbling is much more buildable than the solid shade. The solid shade packs a punch😁 i don't mind the 2 different formulas, I only wish they were totally different shades🤪🩷

I have never bought one of these palettes before. I have the 3 pan original finishing powder palette and individual diffused heat blush, mood exposure mini and diffused bronze light mini. I ordered the jelly fish, and in my collection, 5 are “new” to me. I hope I love it when I see it in person. I think I’m one of the only people totally excited to have 2 finishing powdered in the palette I chose. Another great review Tara!! ❤️

I so agree, it seems companies just can't nail it. This is my first palette, I'm new to these palettes. So I was between the ones they already have on their website but these ones seemed to have more colors, specially blushes plus the gorgeous packaging I choose the Leopard, I think even if theyre not new shades it works for my light medium complexion and I get 3 blushes vs the other ones that have more strobe and bronzers. I wish they had included in the leopard the At Night blush, it would have been perfect! Yes, they all look the same....

I am neutral/warm olive green. I don't like blush much, but I heard a lot of other people with have green don't like it either so I can't commet on blush looking the same. BUT lipsticks, all look through same on me. Everything looks brown on my lips. I need to use a lip liner to try and get the true color. My natural coloring and lip color overide most things. Same with eyeshadow!! My beiges and browns need to be warm. Anything else all looks gray on me. But being neutral/warm olive green I can wear some dark neutral colors even some into dark winter. So skintone really plays into what looks good on each person.
Thanks for doing all 3 comparisons Tara, now seeing them all side by side, it all looks like 50 shades of Neapolitan. Was considering getting jellyfish, but it's not anything different from what I have, will definitely wait for a sale.
As always, thank you for the thorough review. I adore the Hourglass palettes, but skipping them this year for all of the reasons you have mentioned. They would be great for someone who doesn't own some of these palettes already. But, since I already own Ghost, Unlocked, and Sculpture, I don't think these new ones offer me anything different. In fact, I skipped last year's as well for the very same reason. Maybe next year they will get more creative. On a side note, I have not tried their skin tint, but plan to get it during black Friday sale. I love their Ambient Soft Glow foundation and their unlocked lipsticks.
Great video. Thanks for your honesty. I wanted the elephant last year but it was sold out. So I settled for butterfly. I am very pale, but with rosy cheeks(rosacea). I was thinking about getting jellyfish or leopard this year. But after watching your video I think I will just carry on with my butterfly one. They all look gorgeous in the pan. I only have the sculpture palette and use it for quick looks and on vacation. Lasts forever for me, so Im ok spending money for the convenience of a full face. I use the bronzer and blush for eyes, so no desire for eyeshadows for me personally. BUT, the blushes need to be different! Warm or neutral nude or peach and pink/mauve for different looks. Plus from marketing, if the palettes were different maybe people would buy two or all three . . . Who needs 4 to 6 medium pink blushes? I actually used my hourglass dim infusion blush today which is a lovely peach and i would love to have that in a palette for travel. I also agree with what someone else said about a completely customizable palette and ability to buy the covers alone. Thank you for the thorough swatches with past palettes. I know sometimes hourglass doesnt exactly swatch well, but still helpful.

I ended up getting the light palette. I’m Fair to light skin tone. I only have one of the dim and diffused light colors, so 4 shades will be new to me shades and I’m very excited. I skipped last years

I picked up Jellyfish but this will be my first ever Hourglass product so I’m happy although I wish the blushes were different! I hope they create a fair, very cool-toned palette with ethereal glow and a grey contour shade though next year! Everything seems to lean warm with Hourglass 😭

If it helps any, I picked up the butterfly from last year and the highlight it has in there is literally my favourite thing of all time (I am fair, cool toned), I use it every single day and that shade is in this year's mid-tone palette. I would also love a palette if they put one out as you described
Amen 🙌 Just about every person says if you have a fair skin tone, Jellyfish is perfect for you...well no?...you have to take into account your skin tone and undertone like any depth. I think ppl often forget fair skin has undertones too and just bc a shade isn't deep doesn't mean it automatically works for all fair tones..😂 I hope Jellyfish will not be too warm for me but let's be honest, it probably is. We need more fair cool tones from Hourglass along with true deep tones. They should vary the undertones and not automatically do all warm tones for 3 depths...❤
Agree, a variety of blushes from brands are all too warm (looking at you Nars, Natasha, benefit, Tarte... list goes on) . All those warm pinks tend to look the same on my skin. I go with Asian brand (Japanese, Korean) makeup now since they do better blushes for pale skin. Light cool tone pale pinks, straight up yellow blushes look also gorgeous and pansy or lilac colors.
And this right here.. when your at your final thoughts of the video.. This my friend is why I so much respect you because I’m not happy with these pallets honestly and I almost bought two of them before I watched Morgan Turner‘s review and yours . And thank the lord I’m glad I’m not dropping $90 and I agree I love my palette from last year Hourglass elephant

You're so right. Packaging is EVERYTHING. For example, my husband cannot buy any other canned tomato brand unless it's S&W because of how "inviting" the look of the packaging is🤣 True story. When I buy off brand, or store brand, and he's watching me use it he'll say something. He could care less about name brands, truly, but, it's all about the S&W looks better so it must be better😆😆😆 He kills me with that stupid can🤣 P.S. Good luck on keeping them out of your cart. This is exactly what I was hoping for. The blush market has been off the hook this year with amazing colors and formulas. The packaging almost sucked me in, but take away those pretty designs, and this is just another boring tired, unimaginative color story with impeccable formulae. Which seems to be hourglass as a brand in a nutshell these days
Diffused Bronze Light is my favorite from them, and is cool toned. It’s deceptive in pan.

I absolutely adored last year’s Elephant palette and was hoping to fall in love with a version from this year… but I just kept looking at photos and watching first impression videos without pulling the trigger. Everyone has been initially raving and I couldn’t figure out why! They’re just so similar to last year! I didn’t even notice how similar the first two palettes are to each other, either. Thank you for this video. It was helpful. I wear 335 in Fenty, 4N2 in Estee Lauder, 44.5 MAC powder foundation, and M18 in PML. Last year, I purchased Elephant and Tiger and all the shades in both work for me. Ironically, the bronzer in one worked as a contour, which was great because I'd use the bronzer in the other as a bronzer. I plan to get Snake this year. Radiant Light is a repeat shade that I have and I get a lot of use out of it, so I'd be happy to have it in Snake. This would be my 3rd Hourglass face palette, and all the shades will work for my complexion, both as stand-alones and in combination with each other.
I can understand the frustration for those who have a lot of the brand’s face palettes and powders in general.

I am a bit deeper in skin tone. I am a 345 in fenty. I’ve never had an hourglass palette or powder but I think the snake palette will be perfect. I skipped the tiger palette last year because of some of the orangey shades.

Totally agree with you. I stopped buying all palettes they release since 3 years ago. Now I just limit myself to 1 and the one that I feel is worth it. Last year I got tiger, this year I got the deeper palette with the tiger packaging. They need to stop repeating shades over and over. How about a true peach blush? A cool pink blush? Just new variety of colors!!! Face and eye would be awesome! Thanks for being honest. Other channels just go crazy over the packaging and start recommending…
The packaging is adorable. But, if consumers have palettes from last year, these palettes will sit in their drawers and barely get used. They need to come up with something more unique. Since I don’t have any of these hourglass palettes nor many hourglass products in general, I am actually really interested in the Jellyfish palette because it looks like one I can actually wear on my very fair cool skin. Most hourglass palettes in the past seem too dark for me or the wrong undertone. I see your point though for people who already have many of the palettes. I think this year I might get a couple of them.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Tara Lynn keeps it real, and I stopped watching the TH-camrs who rave over everything designer and have a monthly "favorites" video of literally everything they reviewed with affiliate links. You can even tell when they're lying because they'll apply some dusty blush with no pigment and say "I love how it's buildable." 🤣
Tara ur amazing. I love ur honesty as to why ur my favourite. I missed last years holiday (I kicked myself for not getting the Tiger last year) so I wanted the snake. but I saw a review and as I suspected, it pulled an orange tone. I have a medium skin tone but I know it would have been too warm esp when winter is coming up. I hate having to be “careful” when applying blushes. It sucks the fun out. However, I think the repeat shades are great to those who missed last years palettes bc we can’t get them anymore. Esp to those who don’t even have hourglass singles. Yes they are repeat to collectors but to those that are not and missed out, it’s great. I think this is why Hourglass goes this. Thanks for the review Tara, I hope u feel better ❤️

I was considering giving the brand a second chance when I saw these palettes, but your excellent review paused me in my tracks. I'm fair-light & cool toned, I do tan in the summer. I got the jellyfish palette and I absolutely love it.
I have the butterfly palette I don't reach for it much anymore because I generally prefer the pink blush.
I got the leopard palette too. I love that enough to buy another one for my mom because I don't want to part with it, but for me and my skin tone jellyfish takes the cake and I've never loved powders more. I also really love the gold highlight that's in both the butterfly and leopard and I like that I can use them all liberally because I have repeats of three of my favorites.
I'm all good now, I don't need anymore hourglass anything.
I feel like if you're going to drop money, drop it on powders because they last where creams and liquids dry out and go rancid, but if possible, just spring for the ONE that best fits your skin type.
The hourglass powders are definitely a look, they have a certain type of fine glitter to them, no matter what the shade & to your point, you only need so much of one kind of thing.
Love your honesty so much Tara, I don't usually find out how similar palettes are to what I already have until I commit 😬 I hate having that guilty buyers remorse from repeating my makeup 👍

I have a couple individual blushes from Hourglass, but I've never purchased on of these palettes. I am quite fair, so I've ordered Jellyfish and I am excited to receive it! I almost pulled the trigger on Butterfly last year, but I don't use highlighters and that had two highlighters where the Jellyfish only has one and added a bronzer so I think this will suit me better!
If you don't have last year's palettes, you'll enjoy the Jellyfish. The Blushes are different finishes. One is more satin, and one is more Ambient Glow, even though they're the same shade, i think you'll enjoy the palette overall🌸🌸 Thanks for watching🩷

Thank you for your review. I bought the Ghost palette several years ago and I enjoy it but don’t feel the need to ever purchase another one of these as they are all very similar.
There were so many repeat shades this year. Last year I bought the Tiger palette and then got the elephant when it was heavily discounted. This year I only got the Snake palette because it has new shades. You’re right, Hourglass definitely has the same pink tone over and over and over. That’s why I liked the snake and tiger. That being said, I have fair skin and as long as I’m careful, I can use those pigmented blushes.
Honestly, I loved the blush and sculpt palettes they came out with this year and am thrilled I picked those up, especially after the sculpt one immediately sold out. I use these constantly when I go away, so they’re worth it to me.
I would have love to see you using some of the shades in the eyes as eyeshadow ❤I think all the palette look beautiful on you is hard to choose one
Hi, I am brand new to hou glass and don’t own anything of theirs yet so I ordered the leopard since I am medium to tan skintone. I think even though there’s only one new color it won’t matter to me as I think they all look pretty and will look good on my skin. Thank you for the review.
I really want a hourglass palette but it bugs me they put two of same blush shades…. I dont understand why ??? I would love a palette with one warm blush and one cool blush….
One of them is matte and the other has a satin finish

They do have a different finish, but one has that Ambient Glow, and one is more of a satin finish, but still has a glow. And, the one with the marbling is much more buildable than the solid shade. The solid shade packs a punch😁 i don't mind the 2 different formulas, I only wish they were totally different shades🤪🩷

I bought the snake as I wanted some depth in the blushers/bronzer. I probably won't use the highlighter (I don't their strobe powders on me) and one of the finishing powders.

I have never bought one of these palettes before. I have the 3 pan original finishing powder palette and individual diffused heat blush, mood exposure mini and diffused bronze light mini. I ordered the jelly fish, and in my collection, 5 are “new” to me. I hope I love it when I see it in person. I think I’m one of the only people totally excited to have 2 finishing powdered in the palette I chose. Another great review Tara!! ❤️

I so agree, it seems companies just can't nail it. This is my first palette, I'm new to these palettes. So I was between the ones they already have on their website but these ones seemed to have more colors, specially blushes plus the gorgeous packaging I choose the Leopard, I think even if theyre not new shades it works for my light medium complexion and I get 3 blushes vs the other ones that have more strobe and bronzers. I wish they had included in the leopard the At Night blush, it would have been perfect! Yes, they all look the same....

Thanks Tara. I enjoy other reviews too, but you helped me make my decision! I only own one palette (and ambient product) from Hourglass: Elephant palette. I agree Jellyfish and Leopard are all too similar. I was very tempted because of the Owl packaging. If I could mix and match the items inside or just buy the Owl case itself, I would do that. But for $90, like you said, not so different that I can justify.

I am neutral/warm olive green. I don't like blush much, but I heard a lot of other people with have green don't like it either so I can't commet on blush looking the same. BUT lipsticks, all look through same on me. Everything looks brown on my lips. I need to use a lip liner to try and get the true color. My natural coloring and lip color overide most things. Same with eyeshadow!! My beiges and browns need to be warm. Anything else all looks gray on me. But being neutral/warm olive green I can wear some dark neutral colors even some into dark winter. So skintone really plays into what looks good on each person.

I got the snake color story in the owl tin. I figured that has the most new. I’m freaked bout by snakes so customizing with the owl was the way to go!
As always, thank you for the thorough review. I adore the Hourglass palettes, but skipping them this year for all of the reasons you have mentioned. They would be great for someone who doesn't own some of these palettes already. But, since I already own Ghost, Unlocked, and Sculpture, I don't think these new ones offer me anything different. In fact, I skipped last year's as well for the very same reason. Maybe next year they will get more creative. On a side note, I have not tried their skin tint, but plan to get it during black Friday sale. I love their Ambient Soft Glow foundation and their unlocked lipsticks.

I only have the sculpture palette and use it for quick looks and on vacation. Lasts forever for me, so Im ok spending money for the convenience of a full face. I use the bronzer and blush for eyes, so no desire for eyeshadows for me personally. BUT, the blushes need to be different! Warm or neutral nude or peach and pink/mauve for different looks. Plus from marketing, if the palettes were different maybe people would buy two or all three . . . Who needs 4 to 6 medium pink blushes? I actually used my hourglass dim infusion blush today which is a lovely peach and i would love to have that in a palette for travel. I also agree with what someone else said about a completely customizable palette and ability to buy the covers alone. Thank you for the thorough swatches with past palettes. I know sometimes hourglass doesnt exactly swatch well, but still helpful.

I bought the leopard palette with the owl packaging. It's my first Hourglass product overall, so it's 6 new shades for me 😅. The hype of the snake tempted me, but I just didn't think it was worth the effort of "making it work" for my light medium skintone

I ended up getting the light palette. I’m Fair to light skin tone. I only have one of the dim and diffused light colors, so 4 shades will be new to me shades and I’m very excited. I skipped last years

Yesss! I was just thinking that! I hope next year’s include eyeshadows rather than the same blush and bronzer shades. We need everything in these palettes if they’re going to be $90.
I picked up Jellyfish but this will be my first ever Hourglass product so I’m happy although I wish the blushes were different! I hope they create a fair, very cool-toned palette with ethereal glow and a grey contour shade though next year! Everything seems to lean warm with Hourglass 😭
Same! If it helps any, I picked up the butterfly from last year and the highlight it has in there is literally my favourite thing of all time (I am fair, cool toned), I use it every single day and that shade is in this year's mid-tone palette. I would also love a palette if they put one out as you described
Amen 🙌 Just about every person says if you have a fair skin tone, Jellyfish is perfect for you...well no?...you have to take into account your skin tone and undertone like any depth. I think ppl often forget fair skin has undertones too and just bc a shade isn't deep doesn't mean it automatically works for all fair tones..😂 I hope Jellyfish will not be too warm for me but let's be honest, it probably is. We need more fair cool tones from Hourglass along with true deep tones. They should vary the undertones and not automatically do all warm tones for 3 depths...❤
Agree, a variety of blushes from brands are all too warm (looking at you Nars, Natasha, benefit, Tarte... list goes on) . All those warm pinks tend to look the same on my skin. I go with Asian brand (Japanese, Korean) makeup now since they do better blushes for pale skin. Light cool tone pale pinks, straight up yellow blushes look also gorgeous and pansy or lilac colors.
And this right here.. when your at your final thoughts of the video.. This my friend is why I so much respect you because I’m not happy with these pallets honestly and I almost bought two of them before I watched Morgan Turner‘s review and yours . And thank the lord I’m glad I’m not dropping $90 and I agree I love my palette from last year Hourglass elephant
