I wish they would have made all 3 palettes like the elephant but with light/medium/dark. I think the elephant is the most well rounded palette with the bronzer, blushes, & highlight
I have a medium olive skin tone and the lightest shade in this palette “ethereal light” works wonders on the inner under eye for brightening dark circles. The other shade “Dim light” I like to mix with the bronzer and use all over as a finishing powder for a subtle radiance. I always feel like the blushes are meant to be used together, as a base and then topper. Thank you Tara for these reviews and in-depth swatches. 💜
I’m so happy with the tiger palette. I used it the last two days. This is my first time buying one of these palettes. I really hope that Hourglass continues to do this ( including deeper skin tones) . Thank you for reviewing all 3. Awesome reviews.
As a cool, pale person, this one appeals to me! The lightest powder, I have it and it is great on me. But I definitely don’t see this working past a light skin tone!
If these palettes were fully customisable I would keep the elephant palette the same apart from swopping one blush with a blush from the butterfly palette, because the blushes are so similar I doubt I will purchase, nearly the perfect palette
I purchase HG face palettes every year around the holidays and i always pan the bronzer in 6 months and the blushes in a year these are amazing thank you for making separate videos for each palette this is wonderful i can definitely exclude this one from my purchase thanks again
I struggled to pick between the elephant and butterfly palettes because I could make them both work for me. It was a tough choice because the elephant palette made the most sense logically (most bang for my buck) but there was something about the butterfly palette that just made me so happy. I ended up going with my gut and chose the butterfly palette. I felt a little ridiculous but I think I am just one of those who loves that "glazed donut" look like you said. I am really happy with my choice but its not for everyone!
Hi Tara, I just started watching you and I am so glad I found you because you are reviewing the products not like others who are advertizing the products. I don’t like when they say oh my god it is in my alley, I can’t do without it, it is so good and so beautiful I can’t live without it, it is my wholly grail, how could they love everything. I am so irritated about their presentations, I am so glad I found you, you are honest about the products and I believe you. Thank you very much.
Ahhh, thank you so much ❤️ I take pride in being thorough, and honest. I hate wasting money on makeup 😆 i appreciate your support and so happy you found my channel. Welcome to my TH-cam Family❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is the one I'm interested in. I rarely use bronzer. I bought the Medium Universe unlocked last year and find its too dark and warm on me. I was drawn to the vibrant blushes in that palette last year but they are so pigmented and I have to be so lighthanded. At least the lighter finishing powders can help calm down the blush if you apply too much. Thanks for reviewing and all the comparisons.
I didn’t purchase any of these palettes as I haven’t even used the one from this time last year that much 😕. I still really enjoyed all three comprehensive reviews of all these HG palettes-thanks, Tara!! I also love how you foster an open-minded community who share opinions with each other!! Love reading the comments. ❤
Hi Tara, another wonderful job, as always! This one was the easiest to say no to for me personally. I too have wondered why they didn’t swap the two color of blushes and provided a bronzer for this specific palette. Thanks Tara so much for the in depth review of these with each having their own video! 💗
Fabulous series of reviews for this collection, so Thank You Tara! I know I shouldn’t, but I also know I will buy the elephant palette, I get them every year, and I know I can’t make myself skip getting one this year. Last year I bought them both, and here is my walk of shame, I almost never use them, mainly because I have three of the trios and two singles! My favorite large holiday palette was the Ghost palette, I nearly completely used up the two finishing powders in that one. I wish I could hold out for a sale, but ya, FOMO. I also wish they sold every shade ever made in a mini and large size single. I would purchase all of the blushes in a mini, and finishing powders in the large size.
You're right. I'm inclined to order this palette precisely because of the convenience of having all 3 (Incandescent, Ethereal and Diffused Light) in a palette when I'm traveling. I'm using all 3 in my everyday makeup together with Radiant Light. And that's why I'm quite disappointed that there's no bronzer in this palette. And you're right about the blushes being too similar in shade, and too dark or too pigmented for a fair to light complexion! All 3 reviews have been very helpful, by the way. Thanks
If the butterfly palette is meant for lighter complexions then why did they put the darkest blushes in it? I bought the elephant pallet and it’s my first hourglass anything powder palette and I am light medium skintone I wanted a bronzer so I got the elephant pallet. if I would have went with what hourglass was trying to do I would’ve got the butterfly palette and not been happy and with those blushes they are same color and I don’t know if I would’ve liked the finishing powders either if they are too shiny but I don’t know because I have not tried them. I even think they could’ve put one of those blushes in the Tiger pallet being that that is meant for the deeper skintones as they statedand . I agree that they should have swapped one blush for the other that would’ve been the perfect pallet for for all skin tones and a bronzer in each one would’ve been nice as well that’s the main reason I bought the elephant palette is because I wanted a bronzer I wanted to try the formula all in one pallet for the first time. with that said I am glad I did not get the butterfly palette . Overall i’m very happy with my purchase of the elephant pallet With that said I do wish They put a little bit more thought and effort into each persons skin tone range and made the pallets to suit everyone of all colors. I feel they try to make consumers customers want to buy all three (even though it’s supposed to be for one pallet for light medium and deep skintone)and I almost did but I watched your video and realized I could just stick to singles
I love those pumpkins in your background! I will wait on this butterfly palette. I’m hoping they release one of the blushes from here as a single. The other powders are a little too light for me I think. I’m planning to get the elephant palette in the Sephora sale if it’s still available. Thanks for reviewing these.
The reviews definitely help. I was wondering if any of the highlights were similar to the new ND so i’m glad you pointed it out! I think if I were to get any this year it would be the elephant. All beautiful but that one makes the sense for my collection. 💓
I am very fair & cool toned, so Ghost is still my most favourite HG palette. For me the blushes are quite different in undertone and this makes a huge difference on me. I am not sold on this palette as I own the Ghost one and some single HG products but I like it
Hey Tara, I can’t understand why Hourglass didn’t at least put one bronzer in this palette? Why not trade out one of the finishing powders and place one bronzer for fair to light complexions? Just a thought. 💐
Thank you for reviewing all three palettes separately. It can be overwhelming to have the three palettes in one vid, especially for me, I struggle to remember all the info and really analyse my thoughts. I'm happy to pass on all three palettes 😊. I love the packaging, they're so different for HG and the charity they're supporting. Well done HG 👏. It seems to me that the only way you can have different blushers, is to buy at least two palettes!! Maybe that was their intention 🤔. The similarities of the two blushers in both the butterfly and the elephant palettes are just silly. As you said, swapping out a blusher from each palette would've rectified this. Thank you again, these vids have been invaluable 👍👍👍👍 Love ya, 💞💜💞💜💞
I really think it was their intention now that you mention it. In Australia they keep releasing very small amounts at a time as one company has the monopoly so only they can sell it. The FOMO drives up the sales hugely here. It’s all very sneaky. Business’s only care for money hey :(
@@EKM-yt3xy In a nutshell - yep!! I believe the prices are stupidly high for these and other products too. I honestly sympathise with you Aussies, it's just not fair 😡.
I wanted the powders and highlighter in the Butterfly palette but with peachier/nude blush’s (kinda like RMS’s Maidens Blush) so I’m gonna skip all three and just pick up the big ones (the ambient powder, the highlighter and maybe the bronzer) from their main collection.
I don't think I'm going to buy any of the palettes now but if I did I would pick up the butterfly one. I have their unlocked palette, and I love blushes but the bronzer always looks too harsh on me. I would prefer to just have more powders instead. The fact that blushes are so similar doesn't bother me personally because I really like the shades of them. Thank you so much for reviewing all three of the palettes!
@@iffahinsyirah7204 I really enjoying them. The finishing powders are really special. I had before always dry skin after using powder. But not with this one. The skin looks airbrushed I will definitely use them up !!
I really need the light palette but I feel like I have these shades (and more) in the Ambient Lighting Edit palette which is still sold on their website! It's perfect for light (& light-medium), you get a bronzer, 2 setting powders, a peach & pink blush, and a highlighter!! It's a much better option imo, you just don't get the artwork... And that's ok because I feel like I use these palettes for a month or so and put them away until they release another one! 😂 Maybe it's just me?? But thank you Tara for spending the money on the light version, I always appreciate your opinion. 🤍 xo
Love your honest views, I picked up the elephant for my complection but thought the same, why not mix up the blushes hourglass to give us more variety in a single palette 👍
I love and have panned the 3 repeat shades in my current palette so this butterfly one was definitely for me. I will never finish the blushes but having the new highlighter is great. I’ll never finish a bronzer either so didn’t need one. And nothing can beat the Gucci fair bronzer anyway.
Yes! Plus, I love getting two highlighters. The highlighter in elephant would never work for me. It is way too deep. I would have preferred one less blush and instead have a very cool light bronzer, but I am happy with it.
@@cindyp5132 It’s hard to say. I’m lousy with warm v. cool. It’s neutral to my eye. It’s not even a little orange on me but I’m pretty peachy toned fair so it may show differently on you. The Charlotte Tilbury powder bronzer in her lightest shade looks sallow green/yellow on me and I hate it, for example,
I paid $120 for this pallet that’s the price here in Canada. Def disappointed about the no bronzer. I would have preferred one blush and a bronzer over the 2 blushes.
I bought all 3, with the Elephant palette my favorite but today I have the Butterfly palette on and I am a medium skin tone and love the blushes but did use the bronzer from the Elephant palette, wish they would have included a bronzer in this palette.
Hi Tara this is a weird compilation tbh. I use ethereal light every day on my cool toned fitzpatrick one skin - it's my shade and my undereye powder of choice. If they were going for a palette for fair skintones, why put in the deepest of all the blushes in the whole collection? - it's a recipe for clown cheeks on pale people. I never use bronzer as they always look orange, yellow or muddy on me (so that's not an issue), but which really pale person wants a medium gold highlighter? It's a mish mash of the powders stuck in a pretty outer container. Yet another year where these palettes are not something I could use enough of to justify the cost. It's a missed opportunity to have a fair to light palette, a medium to tan palette and a tan to deep palette ie actually being inclusive and giving people six shades they could use. The thing to remember is they want us to keep buying the powders and yet they last ages - I've been using the ethereal light full size for almost two years on my undereye and perimeter of the face (almost everyday I apply makeup), yet it's only half done. That makes it great value and I will replace it when it's gone, but it's not something I'm buying all the time. The blushes also last ages and ages, plus how often do any of us use up a blush? All in all it's a no from me, but I appreciate the swatches etc. Best wishes.
I customized my palate and did the elephant colors in the butterfly packaging! The butterfly colors did not appeal to me at all! Love Hourglass for allowing that Customization!
You have a BEAUTIFUL skin tone!! Elephant Pallette might have been easier to work with, but overall it looks beautiful. The Butterfly pallette, my one complaint is the blush shades are BOTH dark, and look very similar in the pan. I wish the blushes looked a little different, a fair tone bronzer would have been nice in there too
Totally agree 💯 I know the Butterfly Palette is for a lighter complexion, but those Blushes are quite dark. I couldn't agree more. Thank you so much for watching, really appreciate your support 🙏 ❤️
Amazing in depth review yeah not loving when the shades are so similar especially for the price. I love the butterfly design but I'll skip this one. Thank you Tara ♥
I am happy with the Tiger palette. The blushes in the Butterfly palette being so similar is a deal-breaker for me. I will gladly buy one of those Butterfly blush shades if they ever sell it as a single bc they are super beautiful.
My skin is very fair. I buy their holiday palette ever year. I was so sad there wasn’t a bronzer in the butterfly palette so I bought the elephant palette instead and it’s too dark for me. I don’t want to buy another palette. I don’t know why they left the bronzer out of the butterfly palette, big miss.
hi TL👋 So, are the strobe powders essentially just everyday, very natural looking low (to no) beam highlighters? Would one get the same (or similar) effect by mixing a standard highlighter & translucent face powder together? Also, for my own curiosity, let's say you weren't happy with the way the strobe powder performed on the face. Could it be used as a shimmer-esque shadow instead? I'm not sure why I am so stuck on this strobe powder thing, I just have questions bcz for some reason the product itself seems like a left-field item, u know? Anyway, thank you for another really cool, very informative & thorough video !! 🤗hugs🤗
Thanks for the review..I have very fair skin and I’m not interested in purchasing a pallet that has multiple powders in the same tones…why didn’t they include. a lovely coral and pink blush in a palette? Too hard..? I have most of hourglass powders..
Why doesn’t Hourglass make it to where we can create our own shades in a 6 pan palette 🎨? I would love a bronzer in this palette and a blush with a different tone. They put too similar blushes in those
The blushes are a disappointment. Thank you for your knowledge on strobe powder. I really didn’t k ow what to do with that powder. The finish powder looks nice on you.
Hey Tara..:ur reviews are always best👌👌but this palette is a pass..so many new releases mostly blushes..lol..for one face how many😜but actually saving for holidays new releases ..❤️
Thank you Tara for these very detailed reviews after watching all 3 of your videos I think I will purchase the elephant palette since I think that one will go better with my skin tone and also the shades look newer than the other palettes 🎨
I loved all 3 of your videos on these palettes, you are always so thorough and honest in your reviews and always love the swatches at the end. I 100% agree with you with the blushes in the palettes they did a good job with the tiger palette having lots of variety but my thoughts were exactly the same as yours as why they put 2 blushes in the elephant and butterfly palette that look almost identical and I think more so because of how expensive these palettes are it would have been nice to have seen 2 different blushes also again with the butterfly palette it’s such a shame they did not put a bronzer in that palette. Keep up your informative and honest reviews as I’m all here for it ❤️😘
If hourglass made either one of those blushes as a single, i'd be all over it. I don't want a whole palette where the other shades would just be wasted. I thought it was a very strange choice to mix the palest powders with the darkest blushes. Then I thought maybe they're intended to be sheered out with the face powders on pale skin. Idk. I just think it's a shame that such deep options are only tied to the lightest powders. Hopefully, they're release them as singles. Or maybe they'll be in next years' deep palettes. lol.
It’s such a shame the blush shades are so similar. The terracotta looks really nice. No bronzer is strange too. If terracotta replaced the corner blush in the elephant palette I’d buy it for sure…even though I already have 4 palettes from previous years 🫣
Hi Tara!! I purchased the innards of the butterfly palette but with the elephant packaging. I'm really excited to get it. I don't typically use a bronzer unless its cool toned. I'm fair to light with a slightly olive undertone so bronzers are really tough for me. I'm excited about the deep blushes because those do really well on my skin, surprisingly! Also, I've not tried any of their finishing powders so this is right up my alley.
Too bad they don’t let you pick your own 6 shades of anything ..then maybe I could get on board for $85.. IMO the blush shades look like every other blush I have and its an easy pass for me
I’m not sure why they didn’t switch out one of the blushes (or even powders) for a peachy blush and/or a bronzer for lighter skin tones. I feel like this palette missed the mark. Definitely a missed opportunity, and I won’t be picking this one up.
This is the palette that matches my skin tone best but the fact the two blushes are so similar is really really frustrating. GRRRR . . . . not sure it's worth it.
Hourglass has been a very disappointing brand in the last few years. It is very sad because their powders are amongst the best, so beautiful on mature skin... arghh Hopefully, with constructive criticisms as those you give will somehow get to them and they will make it better next time. Life is a continuous improvement process, right? Thanks for the swatches Tara!! Take care! MJ xo
I have fair skin and do use those lighter finishing powders, they aren't brightening on my skin tone, they are just nice finishing powders. The blushes and new highlight shade look too dark/bright for my skin tone. So would not be buying this one. Probably will not buy any this year.
I wish they would have made all 3 palettes like the elephant but with light/medium/dark. I think the elephant is the most well rounded palette with the bronzer, blushes, & highlight

Oh and are you going to do a sort of wrap up video, with your final thoughts on all three palettes and your favorite of the three? 🙏🏻
I wasnt planning on it😁❤️ But I'll tell you, my fav of the 3 is the elephant Palette 🐘 It works well with my complexion and I love the colors 😁
Amazing in depth review yeah not loving when the shades are so similar especially for the price. I love the butterfly design but I'll skip this one. Thank you Tara ♥
I think, this year, the most interesting palette is the tiger one (or is it a cheetah?). the blushes on the elephant and butterfly ones are the same.
Great Video Tara Lynn And Good Luck
hi TL👋 So, are the strobe powders essentially just everyday, very natural looking low (to no) beam highlighters?
What flew behind Tara at 8:09 in the video 😳😳😳
What pallette would you make for yourself, if you could make one, Tara?🤔😊
Well today sucks I finally go to buy the Sonia g brush and it’s sold out 😏 dang it
But I did buy the hourglass elephant palette so better then nothing I guess 🤣
This is the palette that matches my skin tone best but the fact the two blushes are so similar is really really frustrating. GRRRR . . . . not sure it's worth it.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
