I'm always reminded of my dear Nannie (maternal grandmother) who always insisted on having pockets in dresses when you added them. Love how your dress turned out.
The dress with the grey sweater, leggings and boots is just adorable!! I don't normally like collars, but it is just darling folded over the sweater. I will remember this outfit for the winter time. And pockets?!?!! Yes, please! You are full of inspiration! Well done!
Yay! Another member of Team Trace! Honestly, patterns are much more expensive in Australia than the US, and it seems so wasteful to cut up a pattern sheet when you think you might want or need to make it in a different size further down the track, or pass it on to someone else. That print might be ditsy, but it suits both you and the frock beautifully.
Hello and cute dresses! I had a busy but fun day in my sewing room and now I get to sit with my hand quilting and watch your video! I'm so grateful for your time to make this. I hope you have a delightful week ahead! Thank you for sharing!
Your dress is much prettier Janelle. Love the fabric and button up front with collar. Also looks wonderful on you modelled with the jumper on top. Wow! 🐾🥰
Such a cute dress Janelle! I love it:) You are so right about sewing collars. My first collar-project was a rayon blouse with a revers collar. I did regret my choice of fabric because the fabric was so thin and slippery. The project would have been much easier in a linen fabric. But after all, I made it and have sewn many more projects with collars (though not with revers collars I must confess:D).
I think you did a fantastic job. Your latest dress turned out beautiful. Love your tutorials. Everything seems so easy when you do it. Thank you and I look forward to see what you do next
Love watching your videos. An idea I have learned over the years is when I stitch elastic together at the ends, I usually wrap a tiny piece of Fabric around the area where u r going to join the elastic together. And to extra secure the 2 ends, I stitch thru both the fabric and the elastic with zigzag stitching to make a stronger joint. I use a tiny scrap of the Fabric I am making the dress out so it blends and matches. No broken elastic waistbands here. Lol
It's so good 👍 loving you added pockets to 🥰 yeah I agree I like the many ways you change the look ,really suits you , you always make it look sew easy 😉 xxx have a great day
great job! I was shopping on vacation near Asheville, NC and while the area has many super cute handmade options, I found some dresses that were... the local style, but mass-produced polyester and WAY overpriced. $200 for polyester? Never again! I took some inspiration photos and thought about fabrics I have in my stash that could give a similar look and drape. It's been so long since I shopped in person. I was like I'm on vacation but I'm not that drunk. I could make something similar!
omg, this dress is so adorable and i love the way you styled it! i was looking for a pattern to make a "year-round" dress and this one might just be the winner!
It looks amazing and so versatile! I have a very similar dress (not a button up, but other than that pretty much the same, even the fabric is a close match) and I may take some inspo from this video to style it! Btw, I would also like to say a big THANK YOU for sharing your free pocket template. Last weekend my mum and I added pockets to one of my summer dresses and wow, I'm obsessed! Thinking about adding them to all my flowy dresses! My mum even saved a copy of the pocket template for herself. Again, thank you so much 😀😀😀😀
Turned out better than the instagram version I think, you are all smiles and the other girl looks kinda sad in her photos, maybe cause she knew you were going to out do her lol
@@RoseryApparel 😄 I'm never 100% sure if I should or not but I'm making sure to do it for everything! Your videos are so informative and inspiring, thank you for making them! I'm over in NZ so not too far away from tassie. If you ever do a meet and greet or class, know I'll be joining 🥰
I just go to my pattern stash and see what might work! I’ve been collecting patterns (mostly second hand) for a good 10 years or so, so it’s pretty extensive 😄
I’m confused, I’m trying to do your Rosa dress, and I don’t think I’ve got the skirt cut right. I am a size 14, so no need to trim it shorter, but am trying to make dress “a”. I’ve cut two sections of 55cm X 51 cm, but should I not have another chunk too? These two pieces don’t feel enough for a while skirt as it barely fits around my body. I assume I also need another 110cm X 55cm for the skirt front?
Hi there! Thanks for purchasing my Rosa pattern 🧡 The skirt front should be cut on the fold of the fabric and for the skirt backs cut 2 not on the fold x
I use the foot pedal. I think my new machine might be able to go pedal-less, but I haven’t tried it yet! Have you tried it? Does it take a while to get used to?
Oh really? ☹️ I bought it only a couple of years ago so thought it would still be available to purchase! Keep checking back on eBay and Etsy, it should pop up eventually x
What is the size of your cutting table? I really need to set up a stationary cutting table instead of doing it on the floor. I don’t know what size to get that I can put a whole pattern on like you do in your videos.
Your dress turned out super stunning. BTW you should seriously take 5 minutes to learn how to sew buttons on using your machine. It’s a frightful thought (I know from personal experience) however when you see how easy it is you will kick yourself for not having tried this earlier.
I love machine sewing my buttons on. I set the zig zag to zero length and then hand adjust the width, slowly checking against the button until the needle is free in both sides. Then go for it!
@@AngelaSunde1 ok, that’s another way of doing it. I do everything you mention except I lower my feed dogs instead of turning the dial to zero. Good to know
I'm always reminded of my dear Nannie (maternal grandmother) who always insisted on having pockets in dresses when you added them. Love how your dress turned out.
Aw how lovely! 🧡
I remember shopping with my grandma. My job was to look for dresses with pockets! Thanks for bringing back that memory. We are blessed to have them.
Oh, I loved my Nani too...and she sewed a wonderful dress for me!
Dress turned out perfectly, very clever lady! You certainly have your craft down to pat! Love watching you sew!

Now you've got me thinking! I better star w tracing.. especially the vintage patterns that are uncut that i sew!
What an adorable dress! I really enjoy the episodes where you copy a dress advertised online. Well done 👍🏻
Love your dress. I like it better than the Instagram one. Love that you add pockets.

I love that you always include pockets, a perfect addition to this adorable dress
It turned out lovely! I think it is actually prettier than the inspiration dress.
Your dress is much prettier Janelle. Love the fabric and button up front with collar. Also looks wonderful on you modelled with the jumper on top. Wow! 🐾🥰
Absolutely gorgeous looks just like the other one very clever.
Very cute and practical dress.
I think a "grannie" version for me might be on my wish list soon.😘
Janelle your inspiration turns out another awesome dress! I love it.
Love the dress and the many ways you can wear it!🧵🪡🧵
WOW. Well done!! It looks even better than the one on instagram
Aw thank you! It was a fun one to make 😍
Omg I love this, could you release the adapted pattern? PLEASE 🙏🏾
great job, as always, as a seasoned dressmaker your example sewing is easy to follow, thumbs up.

The baking paper from Kohl's is terrible for baking 😂😂. Made my day
So bad! I use it once when I ran out of my usual baking paper and it was hopeless 😂
Better! So cute
Looks very pretty!
Looks great.
Best ever!
Can you do another tutorial how you added the elastic? I couldn't really see that well because the fabric was black and white
It's so beautiful 😍
Perfect ❤️❤️
Wow!
The fit looks amazing, much better on than on the hanger and I love the way you've styled it. Did you knit that grey jumper?!
My mum made it for me 😊
So beautiful 😍 🤩
Cute! ❤
So gorgeous 😍😍 with the seams on the inside, how come you didn’t overlock them? Is it not always needed for open seams?
I overlocked all of the raw edges on the inside of the dress (well I was meant too 😂)

So inspiring! Thank you:) Does anyone know where I can get the mcCall’s m7834 pattern, preferably in Europe? Seems hard to come by..
Thank you, very beautiful on you. Also I tried your pocket template but it doesn't work.
I found thank you!
I always learn something new with your videos♥ thank you♥

Do you use the foot petal or the machine button to sew? Just got a new machine and it’s foot petal optional- woah!
I use the foot pedal. I think my new machine might be able to go pedal-less, but I haven’t tried it yet! Have you tried it? Does it take a while to get used to?

Hi from the north of Italy! Did you have to modify the darts position on the pattern?
Nope! The petite fold line is built into the pattern so you don’t need to modify anything 😊
What is the size of your cutting table? I really need to set up a stationary cutting table instead of doing it on the floor. I don’t know what size to get that I can put a whole pattern on like you do in your videos.
Making a cutting table was a total game changer for me! Mine is 1800x900mm which is a really good size 😊
