Day 3 of the Scrap Man baking show
Today we will learn how to make a chocolate cake
Ingredients
for 12 servings
CAKE
1 ½ cups flour
1 cup dutch processed cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 ½ cups stout
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon espresso powder
1 cup butter
1 ½ cups sugar
3 eggs
½ cup mayonnaise
4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
BUTTERCREAM
1 ½ cups butter, softened
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
½ cup dutch processed cocoa powder
5 cups powdered sugar
5 tablespoons milk
fresh fruit, to decorate
Preparation
Grease and line three 8-inch (20 cm) cake tins with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda,
and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large glass measuring cup, combine the stout, vanilla, and espresso
powder. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until it is light and fluffy, about 5 minutes, scraping down the sides occasionally to ensure all the ingredients are being evenly creamed together.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Add the mayonnaise and beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Preheat oven to 325˚F (160˚C).
Alternate adding the prepared dry and wet ingredients to the batter. Starting with about ⅓ of the dry ingredients, beat until incorporated. Then add ⅓ of the liquid ingredients, mixing until the batter comes together. Continue until all the wet and dry ingredients have been incorporated.
Using a rubber scraper, fold the dark chocolate chunks into the batter.
Distribute the batter evenly between the 3 prepared cake tins.
Bake for about 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Place the cakes on a cooling rack and leave to cool for about 10-15 minutes, until the outside of the pan is cool enough to touch.
Once the cakes have cooled, loosen the edges using a butter knife. Then place a large plate over the tin and invert to release the cake from the pan. Remove the parchment paper from the bottom of the cake and slide the cake back onto the cooling rack to cool completely. Repeat for the remaining two layers.
While your cakes are cooling, prepare the buttercream.
In a large bowl, beat together the butter and vanilla.
Gradually add in the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and milk, continuously beating until all the ingredients have been incorporated and the frosting is light and fluffy.
Frost and decorate to your liking.
Slice and serve.

So for the algebra:
Pythagorean Theorem allows him to find the length of the diagonal part of a right triangle(the pistons) by first being given the length of the other sides(he has the pistons up 10 blocks so that's those) then multiply the 10 by itself to get 100, then each side is a 10 so 100 + 100 = 200. That's gigantic, so we use square root to revert back to before he multiplied the first two numbers by themselves.
Edit: the 200 was also a number multiplied by itself, so square root undoes that bit of multiplication.

They really need to increase the grip of the wheels. It's so tough for my pulling vehicle to pull my low loader. Also it would be nice to have a gear box. At least with two gears (high/low). Sometimes I don't need speed, I just need the torque. Especially to get things going!

Basically it just is a button, connected to an XOR Gate which pulls the bridges up, and activates the farm defenses.
Also maybe you should add like a huge wall around the ‘U Base’ so the draw bridge looks like a huge gate!

Instead of upgrading pistons all the time, just connect them to a controller with whatever level you need, if you connect a level 1 piston to a level 1 controller, you get full speed and range of motion.

I just like how you're going medieval with your base. That draw bridge looks great.
Also, I think a good way to keep the bots from clumping up together is to slightly angle the pads in different directions. And also, I think the castle wall should be just a few blocks taller, just a bit. Like, 1 to 2 blocks taller.

suggestion: you should break the drawbridge vertically in half and add bearings so when its up it folds up and isnt that big and gives you a better view of the area in the middle of a raid
Maybe I’m early enough! Try using a drill in the water set in reverse to see if it will move you through water.
Y would that work
To stop the vehicle wheels from sliding just add breaks using controllers and some highfriction blocks. Just attach them above the wheels. Extend the lip of the castle to prevent the bots from flying over the wall.

Fun fact: there is a "pythogorian triangle": 3,4,5. Obviously if you scale it up you can get 9,12,15. But obviously that is distance between bearing centers, so piston would have to be at 14 length. Then there is 2 half block extensions on both sides.
Another way, commonly used in a game about building bridges, is to piston be horizontal in the extended position, connecting 2 upper parts.
The problem with scrap mechanic realization is obvious, but you can have a sort of retracting piston: build a bar with piston at he end, pointing to the start.
The upside of the second method: the torque is at max when the weight torque is at max. Your method makes it the opposite. Reminder: torque is proportional to force, arm length and sin(angle)

Seriously though, the point of creating a gap that 'bots can't traverse doesn't require a long, heavy bridge portion. A simple 'bridge' section (about 10 blocks in length) would have been sufficient. Nevertheless, it's a brilliant bit of engineering.
My only improvement: build a small platform extensions on either side of the lifters so that you can fire at any bots shielded by the bridge section when it's in the 'up' position.

You could be put big pipes/pillars made of rusty metal coming out of the ocean floor to hold the base up, like oil rigs in a way; it'll put a lot of support blocks whilst keeping it cool-looking.

Scrap man, if you want a drawbridge remote on every vehicle, you can weld it to the base and place a button, connect and remove the weld block. This can be done for both bridges and every vehicle whether the buttons on each vehicle for each bridge is seperate or just one button. Hope this was somewhat useful.😜
the piston extension line should ALWAYS be perpendicular to the bridge to have the maximum torque available,attach the piston to an arm controlled by a controller to maintain a 90° angle
