    one thing you guys should do a video on is, what Bruce lee talked about concerning "explosive power". going from a relaxed state, to an explosive strike, using all your weight from the ground up. I think that many people are misunderstanding what he meant, and how to do it. also, the importance of snapping your hand closed at the moment of impact. I think that many aspiring martial artists are still over looking the one muscle that I consider most important for punching power, the forearm. people tend to concentrate on the pecs, and lats. those are important areas to train, but the real power comes from the forearm. I'd highly recommend training with a "captains of crush" grip trainer. maybe you could also explain to people why big biceps and chest muscles can actually hinder punching power, or at least not be a great benefit

  • @mokyan7
    @mokyan7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Jack’s kick started out well, good relaxed power, and balance.
    Dan your kicks were also powerful, liked how your first kick you just walked up and kicked, quick and smooth.

    when I read the title, and it said "hook kick", I was thinking a heel hook.....lol. you can tell that the teacher, or "sifu" has worked on speed with some of Bruce lee's speed building exercises. he's very quick! I turned 50 today, and even though I can't train anymore because of injuries I got from a car accident. I still enjoy watching the videos and learning the best way I can. I could probably still do a spin kick, or jumping kick if I really needed to for self defense. but I'd have to end the fight quickly because I can't "go the distance"" anymore. good videos. keep em coming

    I was blessed with very quick hands and feet. In my kick training,
    I actually managed to transform a 2--3 move side kick, to a One-
    Plus' move side kick. What I mean by 'One--plus,' is, the move-
    ment on the rear foot that supplies the forward thrust on my side-
    kick, was so subtle and quick, you can barely catch it visually;
    You can barely count it as a move, or a step. I developed this
    extremely quick 'hop and kick" move---but I also employed a
    little "Trick" that I keep to myself...a little 'Tech' secret that gave
    me added speed. As for the "Power" side of the kick, I learned
    to 'Flip the hip' with a rapid SNAP of my waste, while pivoting
    sharply and quickly on the ball of my foundation foot.
    Good stuff.

    Perfect application because it uses minimal excertion, uses the shuffle step or the pendulum forward hook and reverse round house like seen via Enter the Dragon that Bruce Lee did. He was taught different kicking ways via Jhoon Goo Rhee, the man who learnt alongside my Master and until his passing this year, he was the greatest TKD Master since the original 6-8Kwans were united for TKD post Japanese Imperialism days.

      2. You may got a boxer s jab in your nose and a right upper cut broken your ribs
      3. Sanshou/Sanda practitioner will through you out of the place
      And list goes on as well.......

    Good video, but if your in a stance where your best kick is from the rear it's only a small time difference.

    • @TheQuarterbackX
      @TheQuarterbackX 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lead foot does not telegraph your intent as much and much harder to stop because of that and the speed of divery.
      Also, with the belief your rear leg is much stronger should change as you start using both legs and not favoring one over the other. Both should kick just as hard be I'd front ow back leg, favoeit leg or not .

  • @Uffeditz
    @Uffeditz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One one leg is shorter than the other so I struggle alot during fight in sanda so I've decided to do my wushu Katas but when in fight I will use JKD

    • @Vinnay94

      Use your shorter leg as your Back Leg. Bruce Lee's uses his stance because his Left Leg is slightly shorter.

    This is good but needs practice esp for me who trained in TKD. I'm used to kick from the back leg and normally aim for the body or head.
    One thing though, if the opponent has strong legs, he may be hurt and if he is not down or off balance, his may counter attack with his back leg.

    The Big Guy is making an error a lot of people do the first time they do this kick, he's stepping out with his lead leg to get power. It should go on a direct line and just snap over. After awhile you can get near Thai kick power with this kick.

  • @navid801

    but I think the power would be less in this kick, when the kick has not full movement and gravitational force the its power will be less.

  • @begiragardiner1499
    @begiragardiner1499 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    There not explaining it properly. Jacks kick was more powerful because when he stepped he squared his hips up to the target which allowed more wind up. However this makes it more telegraphed and more distance to travel. To do it with less wind up the hips need to have like a 45 degrees from target and use the momentum from the step and pivot of the feet and hips going anticlock wise in one motion. instead of squaring up by going clockwise than anti clockwise to hit the target. Its a weak move so I would use it on the upper calf and try and get that nerve to paralyze their foot. If you do a heavy kick their and telegraph it like jack did with squring the hips up, than you can break your shin if your leg gets checked.

    • @Vinnay94
      @Vinnay94 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jack probably does/did Muay Thai hence the Thai guard.

    Basically the difference between Bruce and all the others is EVERYTHING!. This guys kicks hard, but they naturaless is terrible. Bruce has been the first to use the arms for improving the power, and help the body in balance. In Way of the dragon we can see very clearly his way to taken the hook kick vs the guy with the yellow kicking bag. And his way was very simply, in practisise a "normal" kick developed at the maximum way possible but still natural.
