My Ekster is busted after 7 months with 1 card falling out and the ejector being loose. I will say the warranty process is great, and they offered to ship a replacement free of charge. I opted to pay the extra $28 and "upgrade" to the pro though, since I do like the wallet a lot in general.
If they upgrade the coin tray, could find a way to secure the cards inside so they don't fall out and make the wallet magsafe and keep their price point they will dominate the market. At this point I am leaning towards a double oak wallet although its a bit pricier it has more features that are useful.
Thank you for the really good and honest review. I have a question though, what would it look like if it holds only 2 cards for example? They would fall down right? The whole volume has to be filled, otherwise it's impossible?
I have 3 cards plus ID and insurance card, and they fall out easily with the slightest shake. I'm going to have to pad it with other cards I don't even want to carry just to avoid this. Terrible design.
Thanks for this review. Best one for the addons (coin tray and cash clip). I decided to buy one today. Used your discount code for 5% off total purchase. I think I will stick my own felt textile into the tray (which the Aviator wallet has by default).
My issue with Ekster wallets is that 1) their guarantee is not as good as others and 2) once you have the base wallet, everything else you need is a costly upgrade. Plus, on most models, I don’t like having my cash exposed every time I take my wallet out of my pocket. Not sold on the product and their ads are sleazy.
The fact that Ekster relies on an elastic band to hold the main card holder and backplate together is mind boggling. Not a fan, honestly. That elastic is bound to wear out over time. I was this close to hitting 'buy,' but the idea of a stretched-out band made me think twice. Pass for me.
The elastic band will eventually get loose if you add tons of cards in the backplate. With the previous one I have the tightness is still good after 3 years with tracker and 2 cards. It would be nice to have an extra band included.
@@slickbill9488 thanks for the info. It even compel me NOT to get this so called ‘minimalist’ overly hyped wallet. Hope Ekster improve their wallet design in future to justify its price tag.
Apparently, these do not hold up well to real world use and biggest complaint seems to the ejectors button breaking or not working. Aside from the fact it will only hold 6 cards - just doesn’t work for me, plus way overpriced.
Looks like you're referring to the non pro model that holds 6 cards and has a plastic trigger. This pro one has a metal trigger and holds 7 cards. This wallet is not for everyone like mentioned in the video.
Thank you for the feedback, it functions exactly the same as it does with the cash clip, it is just not as thick. You can see this at 2:28 how it would function without the cashclip, it would just work like the regular backplate that it comes with if the cashclip portion is unscrewed.

@ghtechreview Thanks. I have the Cardholder Pro but I am confused how to slide it on.
Let me rephrase what I had written. How in the heck is the cash plate added?

I just got the double oak essentials trak wallet and it was pricy but its super nice

Do the cards fall out or does the pro keep them in there better now?
The cards don't fall out when you have 7 cards in there but once you start only having 3-4 cards only they can fall out.

That code only giving me 5% off. 😂
Did you screw in the cash clip backplate on? i see it has screws. or did you just use the rubber band to keep it in place? thanks
@@VHEB22 The new backplate comes with the clip screw onto it. What keeps the cash clip backplate on is the band.
@@ghtechreview ahhhh gotcha. Thanks!
@@VHEB22 no problem.
Excellent video.
Thank you!
I loved that wallet but it is very overpriced, I don't know if there is a similar but less expensive one
Well, according to me and my taste and logic, the Vionentus Smart400 is quite similar to the one in the video
@@MattiKorpi-k7i That may work and the last time I checked its price it was on sale
then it is a good option to check the page
It seems logical to me to do it and you also save some money.
Code 118. Check those out. Priced at $29.99 and basically the same.
I tried the code but it’s only about 5 % , is there any other code that we can use to leverage up to 25 % off ?
the amt you save goes up a lot if you add a card tracker
Only applies phones ?
Great comprehensive review, do you know if they have plans on making a pink one or gold one?
Thank you! I'm not sure if they will but I'll keep you all posted when I find out.
They have a rose gold and gold on Amazon
@@jazielmendoza7810 not for the pro model, just the regular cardholder.

It has a lifetime warranty just get it replaced
If it helps the premium options include a silicon band which stays tight better in the long term. Same material smartwatches use for their bands.
@@ghtechreview I only kept 3 items in the back plate and my band is loose, slides right off

This wallet suck! It broke not one month after I bought it. It couldn't eject the cards. A total waste of money.
This is just an add, not a review
The coin tray is an absolute joke lmao
Still can’t comprehend having a rigid metal wallet in my pocket with zero flex
ok
its for front pockets not back, imagine a slimmer lighter smartphone in terms of pocket feel
Bad video, you should of showed the black plate without the money clip and how it functions with extra cards.
