- Paul Walker's new film -- one of the last he completed -- was going to start a new chapter for the "Fast and Furious" actor, says its director.
"He had gushed to me about the new offers he was getting from people who'd seen his performance," says Eric Heisserer, the first-time director of "Hours," which opens Friday. "His career was finally going in a direction that he was excited about for the first time in many years."
The dramatic film, about a New Orleans man trying to keep his newborn alive in the face of Hurricane Katrina's chaos, marked a change of pace for Walker after making a name for himself in the "Fast and Furious" series. Walker's in practically every frame, agonizing over his baby, mourning his losses, willing himself to continue as his hospital is evacuated and the city is overwhelmed by floodwaters.
Walker died November 30 in a horrific auto accident while riding in a friend's high-performance sports car. His death has inspired shock and sadness as "Fast and Furious" colleagues remembered his spirit and fans paid tribute to his charity and generosity.
Heisserer, too, was left in shock by Walker's death. The news reached him over the Thanksgiving holiday, which he was spending in Oklahoma with family.
He remembers a "kind and patient" video-game fanatic who never pulled rank, even though he was the film's only name performer and one of its producers.
"He was just eager to do a great job, and that kind of inspired everybody else to step up their game and make sure they were committing the same way Paul was," Heisserer says.

this guy is one great guy not just because of him as an actor but how good of a person he was and I wish I could of known him he was one of my favriote actors and the day that he died and I saw it on the news I was devasted even though I dident know him personally ... :( the world will never be the same without him

Even if i never had the chance to meet him personally I still cannot believe he is gone. It feels like a good friend of mine died. Still after all these months I cannot believe he is gone. Until now, I still can't believe he's gone and why fate determines his life to end at the time of his prime. He is a kind-hearted, conscencious, compassionate and consistent humble guy, he just poured out his heart to help the ppl but not just throwing money for charity to increase his fame. This is how amazing he was always be in his life and made me so impressed and unforgettable of him.
I saw the documentary few days ago.
God he was loved by so many people.He was a wonderful person and beautiful soul.Gone too soon.
World will never had a soul like Paul met him once and he really is so down to earth and talked for a good 30 minutes about sports and cars

Just a beautiful soul
I'm affected so much by his loss almost like I knew him! I mean from what I know is if I ever met him I know he'd shake my hand and take a selfie with me or even if I just really needed some help that he would do that not just because I'm a fan but because he genuinely cared about people! I'll never forget the story about a couple looking at rings didn't realize who Paul was or that he was there. When they left he purchased the ring for them as long as it was kept anonymous! Sadly they had to find out who bought it because he died! Love Paul walker n all the films he did

still to this day, i really wish i could done something. in end i don't think i had enough power in me to something. its not fair its fair he was so full of life and a fun spirit that touches your heart at the most. you know when i heard of paul walker at first i didn't what fast and furious was and later i got to know what fast and furious is and what it stands for paul walker. like for me i own all seven fast and furious films. so i was browsing my youtube like i always do then see some video of tyrees gibson crying and i didn't what he was crying about until then camera man pointed the camera down at Paul walkers grave. I'm like oh no this is huge i was and still am a big fan of paul and fast and furious. when i heard they were making a seventh fast and furious i said dad lets go see it because i owned all six fast and furious movies. then at end of the movie like i was really moved at what they did for paul. because i heard that that paul's 2 younger brothers stepped in to finish this movie that and james wann did a fantastic job of passing on paul walkers spirit and ending the story arc for brian o conner. i was really touched by the movie and i got the seventh fast and furious movie for christmas which i was really happy about. i didn't know and this was before i got my seventh fast and furious movie i wanted to know how paul walker passed away. i looked he died in a car accident he was doing charity work before he passed away and i was like my does something a little bit similar. i wanted to do the same thing i work with my dads brother i do organising and smashing prosthetic limbs its been 2 years and i thought now that paul walker has passed. i knew he started a charity called reach out worldwide. i looked on youtube and i found out that his younger brother cody continued on with his older brothers legacy. he continued his brothers legacy at reach out worldwide and i thought to myself i want to meet cody walker and express my deepest and late condolences to say how sorry i am of him loosing his older brother paul and ask him how can i help with reach out worldwide or what can i do to help reach out worldwide? loosing family is the one of the hardest things to get through i should know I've been their at that moment. if i had the power to do anything the first thing i would is bring back paul walker to life but i don't i wish i did though. where would be now with out paul walkers 2 brothers stepping for paul walker i don't they could've made better fast and furious movie. now i read online that their making fast 8 and i asked myself will cody walker come back to fill his brother paul walkers fast and furious shoes? i also heard that furious 7 was for paul they gave furious 7 in honoring his memory and fast 8 is from paul walker how crazy is that.
