    I don`t think there`s anything "gimmicky" about having turn signals at all,I think they`re essential in the city otherwise you`re spending a lot of time riding one-handed while you make hand signals.

      I made my own bikes, and the main things I was concerned of was mirrors and turn signals.
      *I just bought a four light wireless set for my bike.*
      They're much better than the lights on this bike.
      My bikes are better than shown here, except the brakes.
      I have trunk cases, music, usb charge, lights all around the bike, cameras front and rear, an electric rear mirror, several headlights, on a mountain bike. Suspension in the front and rear. HUFFY and MONGOOSE BIKES. 30mph.
      Less than the price of this bike.
      The Bikes Wasn't More Than $40 Used. I bought the motors on Amazon. $150, And $200, $300 for the battery!
      All the other accessories added increased their values. Still neither cost as much as this one.
      Have more I'm working on.

      Turn signals aren’t necessarily gimmicky. But they ARE on most bicycles since they are just two inches apart and it simply looks like a random blinking tail light in the center of your bike (which is common on bikes), and so most car drivers or even cyclists won’t realize it’s a turn signal. That’s why motorcycles have mandatory minimum distance between turn signals to be street legal. If the turn signals are only a couple fingers apart, they don't get interpreted as turn signals. In a sense they can even be more dangerous that way since riders may have the false sense that they've demonstrated their intentions to a car and then make a turn when the car thinks the bike is going straight.

      Turn signals are surely practical, in some European countries however (like Germany) they are even forbidden on bicycles

      @@jmreagle I'm not completely sure - but regulations regarding bicycles there are from a long gone era decades ago, with lights which have to have at least 6 V (while modern LI-Ion batteries have just 4,2 V but are far more powerful than Alkalines). I think these laws had been made even before LEDs existed

    I referred some friends to Heybike and one of them had theirs get lost or stolen in transit and heybike sent them another which I thought was pretty good customer service for sure. The typical 500 watt motors are kind of wimpy for my liking but they get the job done. I prefer a 750 watt minimum motor at 48 volts.

      i experienced a similar issue with my Heybike Cityscape getting lost in transit, they sent over another one when I emailed them, and they've answered all my support emails since. Not bad.

    Please start talking more about parts standardization and repair-ability in your reviews Not all of us want to be stuck relying on the company. Other than that, great review!

    I have a after market turn signal rear light on my e-bike and it helps a lot more that you would think I also do a lot of night riding though

    Nice bike and review. Looks like it has mounts for a front rack. I love cargo bikes and this looks like it is ready to work.

    How did I just watch this review and don't know the power of the motor or what derailleur setup it comes with? I've watched dozens of Micah's ebike reviews and they are typically great, can't ever remember this happening before.

    • @simonm1447
      @simonm1447 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The motor is advertised with 500W, the drive train is a 7 speed Shimano derailleur setup with a Tourney derailleur. It looks like if the cassette is the typical 7 sppeed 11-28 freewheel.

    I think the turn signals are excellent. one, you can never have enough notification in the city. Telling people that your turning
    apps are very important. You can download bike trails. I think those are the best parts of this e bike. But yes, they need to come up with a lighter bike. I'm shopping for my second bike now, and I'm looking for a lighter one. I have the electric bike co it's excellent 0:31

    While the price of this bike has not barged, Aventon has recently lowered its price on the Level 2 to $1699 with 2 batteries and of course they still get high marks on their customer service.

    You mentioned weighing more and then mentioned hydraulic brakes. Typically, hydraulic brakes are lighter than mechanical disc brakes. I wasn't sure of that myself, but that seems to be the concensus.
    Hydraulic brakes don't have to cost a lot, but as with everything, quality hydraulic disc brakes probably should cost a bit more than quality mechanical ones.
    I built my own e-bike last year, and ended up purchasing Magura MT5e's for $166 along with Magura MDR-C 180mm disc + sport pads for $75. So all in price was $241 plus shipping from Germany, because Bike24 has killer pricing and they were the only shop with the 20" air shock SR-Suntour fork I needed. Arguably, my brake setup is what most high end Euro cargo bikes would spec.

    My Heybike arrived damaged. They want to send me the parts, have me buy the tools and fix it myself. I looked up reviews and that's their policy. Good luck if it arrives broken, worst customer service ever.

    • @roolio227
      @roolio227 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well , its cheap . Im a mechanic myself and sending me the parts alone is fine with me , for the price i pay for this bike . It isnt a BMC or a canyon . It is " budget " . If you dont have a mechanic or have two left hands yourself ... Damn ..

    Nice bike but I hate it when companies like theirs try and hide what kind of company they are. When I see a new ebike company, I'll always go to their site and see what kind of US support they have. Do they have a phone number plainly listed? Do they have an address listed? Do they have regular customer service hours? I usually check the "about us" section to look for red flags. No address listed and broken english all over the site quickly let me know that western looking photos are just stock or photo shoot photos. The last red flag for me is how much they are pushing their influencer programs and rewards you can get for referral links. Stuff like this is why I generally stick with known brands. The bike looks ok though, especially for the price. If you just want a bike and feel confident about not needing any kind of support from a company, I'd say they are worth a look at. I just wouldn't be surprised one day if you visted the website to see a 404 error or the company renaming themselves to something new to start over.

    Really wish you would stop riding these things on sidewalks in your review videos. Besides being illegal, it's HIGHLY dangerous for pedestrians--on any bike, even more for an e-bike.

    • @lonerplayz5844

      Riding on sidewalks in the US is legal because most of the sidewalks are empty, or with only occational pedestrians. Except for at busy business central areas it is prohibited. Otherwise, it is encouraged. I commute with my ebike on the sidewalks all the times because it is safer, a lot safer than competing with fast moving cars on the roads, and all the policeman I met there, they all nodded and smiled to me.
