the way I solving is work backward by 150,000-90,000=60,000 then 60,000/0.15=400,000. to check my work just place it in the B7 if it checks out with the target number.
We could simply do like 150000(Target)-90000(Actual Sales)=60000(Predicted contribution for Product C) Now to calculate the Revenue of Product C we could simple divide 60000/15=4000*100=40000 Unable to understand why Goal seek was used for such a simple calculation.
because the goal was to display and teach goal seek. Yes it would have been more efficient to work backwards instead of the trial&error goal seek, but the actual problem here isn't important because its just trying to demonstrate how to use goal seek, which it uses well. A better problem would have been one that is hard to reverse, for example finding a specific point of interest on a function that is difficult to differentiate. Setting up a problem like this doesn't add anything to the video, but requires a lot more work.
Question: I am trying to find the IRR by setting the NPV to zero. How can I use Goal Seek without getting my NPV value (which I still need in the sheet) to zero. If I use Goal Seek my NPV value goes to zero, I have my IRR, but I still need to use the original NPV value which is now gone...
Lol if you just went 150-90 it’s a solve for x problem.....I googled to see wtf this tool is....if it’s not robust for complicated problems this is probably a wasted tool - those that would know to use it can fio wo it.
in the calculations you had to multiply column B by column C, into column D. then sum them at the bottom on the total rows( either by using the auto sum, or entering the equals sign "=SUM(the three rows) the the enter key. then the goal seek would have worked . hope that helped
makes no sense! there was no information about setting out the calculations that the goal set requires to enter the calculation into the goal seek. the video has no purpose !!! you should of started with an easier calculation, that was easier to enter to emphasis the GOAL SEEK FUNCTION! the principle of YOUR VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!
your voice is really relaxing , thanks for the video
We all can never thank you enough, God bless ❤️
hello can you help we with my spreadsheet I am struggling to do this and add few other functions. If you can help that would be great??
This is Matrix level Excel, thank you!!!
i understand that you use the option but why? how the division works?

Nice CLEAN and well presented video. Thank you. Regards Dean.

There’s a Npv and Irr function.
Beautifully explained!!!!
What if I don't know the goal in value but know I want to get max value? And what if I have more than 1 number that can vary?
How do we understand this you didn’t show the function of the cell my is not working
Very Illustratively explained , thanks
MY MILKSHAKE BRINGS ALL THE ALDO MENCARAGLIA TO THE YARD
thank you for a very useful guideline!
who would thumb down such as a useful video!
Simple and easy explanation👍
very simple, illustrative, very good !
I can't understand anything. 😟😟
wish there was a harder example..all i could think of was how easy to was to solve in my head in 5 seconds vs using goal seek
Well, we aren't all super high IQ geniuses from China, Mr Wang :)

Thank you very much, very helpful.
GOOD VIDEO THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOU
Thank you so much 💓
My excel does not have a what if
U make so easy to understand.. thank you sir
is there any way to set the "set value" field to a cell, rather than a firm value?

Thank you so much sir it's wonderful
thank you for sharing!
