    Linux Mint and Manjaro are two Linux distros that couldn’t be further apart from each other. While Mint is known for its superior stability and usability, Manjaro is known for its bleeding edge nature. While one offers undeniable solidity, the other offers unmatched versatility. And the differences go on and on.
    But at the same time, there are some similarities here as well. Now these might surprise you. Both Mint and Manjaro are extremely popular and have their respective die hard followers. They both provide industry leading software availability. They both are very easy to use and they both provide enjoyable computing experiences. In fact, Linux Mint and Manjaro are two of the best Linux distros of all time.
    But the real question here is how do they compare against each other? Which among them is the best, which among these is more suitable for you.
    To answer these I installed both Mint and Manjaro on the same machine, and I have been using them both as my daily drivers, using the same set of software on both the distros. And what I found out was quite surprising. These two systems have a personality of their own and they are quite opposite in nature. You can use and love one, any one, but not both.
    So let’s jump right in and take a deeper look at these two fantastic Linux distros and see which one comes out on top. One of these two might just as well end up being your next daily driver.

    Excellent review. Manjaro is leading edge and exciting. Mint is elegant, more stable and dependable, while being pretty current. I have left exciting and leading edge (which is fun) and opted for elegant, stable and dependable. Like you said, both are great distros, just decide what do you want? New Linux users ONLY CHOICE is LINUX MINT - Cinnamon!

    Do you have a Mageia Vs OpenMandriva? This two are Mandrake/Mandriva descendance and mageia is the only one that keeps the original mandrake/mandriva control center and still uses the drake commands and urpmi.

    I used Mint for months, but Cinnamon DE never sit well with me, and I was annoyed by many bugs that were just there, not being fixed, because packages were frozen and not updated. On rolling releases, bugs are also present but are way quicker fixed. Anyway, I moved to Manjaro (8 years ago) and I'm still using it. Moreover, I am still using the same OS install, which shows how stable Manjaro could be in right hands. Basically, Manjaro could break, but there are easy ways to fix it. First, have backups. Second, know how to use manjaro-chroot and restore backups. Third, pay attention to Manjaro forum announcements. Most fixes and issues are listed there.

REcently- I've gone BTRFS and I have Spiral Gnome on one drive and CACHY with kde6 on the other!!! Works GREAT.... and I'm learning to use Gnome which I've severly hated for years!!

    What I miss about Mint - and perhaps the main reason I don't use it - is the lack of a decent built-in desktop search.
    I know: Some will say that it's all a question of better organization, and that's partly true. But on a heavily used desktop machine, there are _so_ many files from so many episodes in the user's life and interests. I find it virtually impossible to organize things completely and decently enough. So I need a decent, integrated, index-based desktop search.
    Both Gnome and KDE have this. What is the problem for the Cinnamon desktop?

    this might be a bit unrelated but i find myself having to reboot ubuntu once to several times a day to fix software related issues.. before the recent manjaro update i didnt have any of these issues. honestly i think manjaro was more stable before the new update. the new update bricked my manjaro OS and decided to switch to ubuntu. Ubuntu is a good OS but im realizing im getting a lot more data corruption and apps that just dont work.. i need to install software from debian to get proper functionality.

    I"m considering your course. BUT- I got mashed between 2 trucks in 99 and since that accident-- I don't "retain" stuff like I use to. Before I could watch something ONCE and learn it-- now I can't.. and unrelated combos of letter and "code" like things--- just don't stick in my mind like they use to... so I'm wondering if I should or not. NOTHING against you or your course-- which I'm sure is GREAT--- just I don't know if I can retain it well enough to use it or not. I understand what you're telling me-- but 20 minutes later- I can't recall a lot of it (the technical stuff that is)..

    If I'm going to install Manjaro, I'd simply install Arch and have, in fact, done just that. Mint LMDE by contrast, I feel, is an improvement on core Debian. As for the AUR, it should be used with extreme care.

    • @MyouKyuubi
      @MyouKyuubi 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IOTWVUVWTOI Kind of yes, kind of no... If there is no consensus, then game devs and companies cannot streamline their tech for Linux compatibility.
      In my opinion, i think everyone should agree on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE)... It's almost irrationally stable, because it's Debian-based, has a 2 year long update cycle, precisely to ensure stability... This works great, for developers, as they don't have to constantly worry about adapting to new tech, and Debian takes things slow and steady... meaning it's the easiest Linux distro to make mainstream! And on top of that, its cinnamon desktop makes sure it's an easy transition from Windows, so windows users aren't too scared of swapping over! :)
      So yeah, i vote LMDE... But nobody agrees with me, so i guess we stay stuck on this phase where Linux struggles to get game-support. : /
      But sure, the large variety of distros make it so that there's competition, meaning a few of those distros will be more efficient and versatile than other distros, like Debian... Whereas other distros sort of serve as a beta-test for new Linux features, like Arch... This is great for Linux evolution, but bad for game-support, as each linux system is too difference from each other for any ONE system to become mainstream! : /
      The reason why Windows has such prevalent support, is because there's at most, only 2 versions of windows active at a time, the third oldest ceases to get support from microsoft... It's easier to make sure games are compatible with 1-2 OS's from microsoft, rather than like 50 OS's from Linux, lol.
      Hence why it's good AND bad... Competition is good, but market saturation is bad... In all honesty, we need slightly fewer distros, atm. :P

  • @ZensG_
    @ZensG_ หลายเดือนก่อน

    More or less all linux distros are same. Availability of the lastest software is not any distinguishable feature anymore since the arrival of flatpak and snap package solutions. Its a bit boring to watch comparisons on two different bases of distros along with *brief* introduction to the Linux distro itself. Rather than focusing on how to transition from windows/macos to Linux mostly people focus on making distro review videos.
    Findings out what a general average computer users (for like home users, students on science ,data engineering and business statistical analyst ) do on windows and trying to make videos on how they can achieve that level of productivity,to some extent,should be the content direction for the linux TH-camrs in my opinion.
    Although it's not totally impossible to search for videos and readings reddit or blog post for doing usual things (other than coding and customizing stuffs), make dedicated videos on such tasks or software would be nicer. I mean how you would gonna introduce some different operating system to the new comers if they dont have the similar level of productivity in terms of software availability and usability on Linux.
