Facts. I started doing mine in high school, yet I very much remember what they looked like prior. I still do them and often go through periods when i don't (33yrs old). Guess what, my nails NEVER GROW BACK HEALTHY. Before I ever started, my nails would grow STRONG. Haven't since.

I think she’s making a mistake by allowing her daughter to do this at such a young age it can damage your nails and it does take about a month for it to grow out after you’ve taken the acrylics off and what is she going to have to look forward to when She’s 15 or 17 she won’t have anything to look forward to at that age because she’s going to know that mommy already let me do it now. And obviously it’s her right to do what she wants with her own daughter because it’s her child but when people weigh in on what she’s doing it is what it is and it’s their opinion and it’s their right to their opinion. FYI I didn’t have acrylic nails put on till I was 15 years of age and in junior high school about to graduate and I looked forward to having it done for the first time so there you go

I feel as if Adrienne expresses her opinions with a lot of emotion, gets loud sharing them and dont even know that she is loud. I am the same way...when i am sharing my opinions I am very passionate and start to raise my voice and when my mum checks me, then I realize that I was loud and lower my voice.

For Adrienne, this was more than just about nails. I think her getting loud was more of her really longing to be a mom. 🥺. She wants the opportunity and experience of motherhood, and this was more of that frustration coming out because she doesn’t have the opportunity yet to make these types of decisions for her child. I notice in some segments they have teased her I don’t see it in a harmful way but maybe she feels like they don’t take her serious, I think her raising her voice it’s like trying to stand up for herself, like strong idk if I make sense but I’ve come across 3 segments where Loni and Garcelle are laughing at her and she’s like why are you guys laughing at me? Just stuff like that I’ve noticed cause I also see Notice A getting defensive easily.
I think Adrienne was so loud and aggressive during this segment is because Loni called Garcelle for her opinion as a mother and Jeannie as a mother to be. It made it seem as Adriennes opinion was completely devalued because she isnt a mother or even soon to be. This caused her to be aggressive to make sure her point was heard and considered

When I saw that post on Instagram, I think people were more concerned about the breastfeeding than the nails itself. I disagree on this topic. No 5 year old should have a full on French tips. Keep it simple with just nail polish. Same with how little girls are being dressed. Alot of them are dressed like a grown woman at a young age. And parents saying that's OK is the problem. First let's teach our young girls to love their natural selves. In regards to Adrienne, everyone knows how to parent best before they actually become parents. The moms and mom to be on the panel gave some valid points.
I keep seeing comments about the physical damage being minor but there's also possible of a psychological shift in the what the child thinks is beautiful............. Especially in this day and age where there is always something to make you insecure, I feel like that age is when we should start making kids love their natural features, be it nails or hair before we hype or promote artificial enhancement for them. I love these chats and these ladies help me get through the week. Im not sure how I feel if my daughter were to get her nails done like this when she's 5. I can paint her nails at home for fun. However, like Ade said, I may not allow my child but I will not shame or put another mom down for allowing her child to do so.
Along with the chemicals, I would wonder about the heated lights that dry the nails, those can cause cancer. So if it was my kid they wouldn’t have French tips. They would just enjoy being a kid. I wouldn’t want my kids to grow up too soon. I believe in celebrating who we are and not engraining beauty expectations on kids. Let kids have fun playing and learning their ABC’s instead.

Jeanni is right, when you abuse a childs hair at a young age it does change the texture and future growth. My mom, grandmom were always wash/oil scalp and go people, my hair, sister, niece still do the same our hair grows almost waist length today. Why change what works. Black women especially their diet, chemicals used, wigs, tight braids etc. all affect the growth of their hair especially when done at a very young age, it changes the growth over time.

When I saw that post on Instagram, I think people were more concerned about the breastfeeding than the nails itself. Honestly Adrienne needs to calm it down. They weren't pressed one way or the other, it was a topic they were covering for the show segment....like calm down. I disagree on this topic. No 5 year old should have a full on French tips. Keep it simple with just nail polish. Same with how little girls are being dressed. Alot of them are dressed like a grown woman at a young age. And parents saying that's OK is the problem. First let's teach our young girls to love their natural selves. Let the kids be kids. 5 is just way to young to be doing all of that extra stuff.

In regards to Adrienne, everyone knows how to parent best before they actually become parents. The moms and mom to be on the panel gave some valid points.
I keep seeing comments about the physical damage being minor but there's also possible of a psychological shift in the what the child thinks is beautiful............. Especially in this day and age where there is always something to make you insecure, I feel like that age is when we should start making kids love their natural features, be it nails or hair before we hype or promote artificial enhancement for them.
For anyone that wants to come at me by saying why cant we do both, doing both would be counter productive in my opinion. My point exactly. There is already enough going on that's giving people insecurities. I don't want my 5 yr old to see enhancements as her only form of beauty before she can even learn her body parts. Hahahah. I have an aunt who has never gone out of her house with her natural hair. And get this, her head is full of nice healthy hair but she is so insecure about it 🤭🤭🤭🤭

I love these chats and these ladies help me get through the week. Im not sure how I feel if my daughter were to get her nails done like this when she's 5. I can paint her nails at home for fun. However, like Ade said, I may not allow my child but I will not shame or put another mom down for allowing her child to do so.

Along with the chemicals, I would wonder about the heated lights that dry the nails, those can cause cancer. So if it was my kid they wouldn’t have French tips. They would just enjoy being a kid. I wouldn’t want my kids to grow up too soon. I believe in celebrating who we are and not engraining beauty expectations on kids. Let kids have fun playing and learning their ABC’s instead.

Adrienne maybe an adult but she often sounds like a immature teenager, she means well but, naive. Jeanni is right, when you abuse a childs hair at a young age it does change the texture and future growth. My mom, grandmom were always wash/oil scalp and go people, my hair, sister, niece still do the same our hair grows almost waist length today. Why change what works. Black women especially their diet, chemicals used, wigs, tight braids etc. all affect the growth of their hair especially when done at a very young age, it changes the growth over time.
Adrienne missed the mark on this conversation! She is not respecting others opinions! Learn to listen and stop speaking so much. She felt like she was making valid points but she really wasn’t! Relax!
