    I had the same when I was a child. I hated wearing girls clothes, I wanted to be a boy so much. I had my hair cut short and I wanted my friend to call me Max. I think it started when I was about 4 and lasted till 14. Then I found out I didn't want to be a boy so much anymore. But I could not get rid of the thought that being a boy is much better than being a girl. I still think so, but I am totally heterosexual. I have a boyfriend and I dream of giving birth to children. I suppose hormone therapy can be a mistake during puberty age.

      Boy stuff can be lots more fun for any active girl. This is child abuse. Mom had a book out when Ryland was what, 6 ?? Doing the National circuit. Sounds like an attention seeking agenda to me. What an abomination and horrific corruption, violation and mutilation of their daughter’s body, not to mention her mind and soul. When it is now reported done 85 % change their minds.

    I always find it strange that these progressive parents use either masculine or feminine stereotypes to judge the sexuality of their prepubescent kids. So they had a girl who didn't like little girl clothes or little girl toys, therefore, she must be transgender. What if we all ran around naked, and lived from the land, would her gender have been in question? Why can't her birth gender be respected regardless of her clothes or recreational preferences?

      This child is transgender their not just a girl who is a tomboy they feel inside a male and want to be perceived as one
      There parents didn't enforce it just embrace and supported him
      Gender is between the ears his mind felt that of a male and didn't match what was between the legs
      Therefore he felt discomfort

      @@afsanaparvez6112 - I grew up and spent my adolescence in the 50's and 60's, there were a lot of kids in our neighborhood both girls and boys. We were just the kids, if we played kickball we played as kids, some of the girls were better than many boys in running and kicking. When we rode bikes we would go places like ponds and streams for cooling off, or getting together as a group. In fact, we all pretty much looked the same, girls tended to wear girly colors, but shorts, jeans, tee shirts, we all looked pretty similar. Gender didn't mean anything other than we knew who were girls and who were boys, and parents taught most of us to respect one another. I think most of us became aware of gender when we began our puberty stage, girls became more feminine and the boys began acting more masculine. I genuinely don't understand what "feeling" male or female really means, and I'm an adult, I can't imagine how a prepubescent child would articulate that "feeling" unless a seed or suggestion was planted there. Do you mean sexual attraction? Is that what "feeling" male of female means?

    • @afsanaparvez6112
      @afsanaparvez6112 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Columbus1152 I agree with kids regardless of their gender not having gender boundaries and being open to everything activities, toys, dress and social wise. I'm 100% for that.
      Being transgender is not denying that and putting urself in a box and comforting to gender stereotypes e.g I'm a boy who likes barbies dolls and makeup therefore I should be a girl. A boy can be into that aswell. (no gender boudaries)
      Transgender is mind, soul, heart its not a mere belief its unmistakle its factual the gender that u feel u r in mind and heart is undeniable therefore in rileys case he knows in mind and heart he is male therefore doesn't want to be label as girl in society or go through female puberty which could make him suicidal
      May I ask u when u were a child u didn't look in between ur legs to see ur biological gender to determine ur gender u listen to what ur mind said and ur heart felt which so happen to match what was inbetween ur legs.

    I don't think people here understand that this child is only socially transitioning at the moment. He isn't on testosterone and isn't getting surgery. If he wanted to, he could just de transition whenever he wants. He's not allowed testosterone legally until around 16 and he needs to see a gender therapist and be diagnosed with gender dysphoria, which is unhappiness with the body or feeling you're in the wrong body with the wrong parts. Surgery can't be done until he's at least eighteen. For now, he'll probably be on puberty blockers, which do what the say on the tin. This just delays puberty, so if he felt that he was in fact female he could go off to puberty blockers and hey presto, female puberty is around the corner.
    In short, everything is planned out.

      Lee Rudman some people identify as animals now. What your problem with it? They are going against clear biology? Guess? It's the same with trans hypocrite! And also all that is stupid. If the brain developed wrong then changing the body won't help because it's a brain issue. That is why their suicide rates don't change. You must be stupid to ignore that.

    • @lr3521
      @lr3521 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex Thompson I have heard this silly argument from ignorant transphobes such as yourself so many times now that I’ve stopped counting. Transgenderism is caused by the prenatal brain receiving too much of the wrong hormone. Oestrogen determines a female brain and testosterone determines a male brain. There is no hormone in the human body which would make a person feel that they were an animal. So if someone is going round saying they identify as an animal then they undoubtedly in my experience, are a snide and silly transphobe such as yourself

    • @alexthompson8977
      @alexthompson8977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lee Rudman okay the whole female brain in a man's body and vice versa is stupid. A females brain is wired to produce more estrogen than testosterone. So that means a man with gender dysphoria would basically produce more estrogen than testosterone during puberty. But that man still goes through male puberty showing that the brain recognises the body as a man and treats it as such. Gender dysphoria-- the condition of feeling ones emotional and psychological identity as male or female opposite to ones biological sex.
      Using the definition it shows that trans people just feel like a different sex. And don't come with the arguement about "some trans people don't have gender dysphoria" because if they don't then they had no desire to be the opposit sex and just do it as a trend.

    • @lr3521
      @lr3521 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Alex Thompson Yes I understand what you are saying but puberty is predetermined via the sex chromosomes. The brain develops much later. It is possible for the brain to contradict itself. Unfortunately, the part of the brain that helps the human to develop their identity and natural behaviours is hardwired at a different stage of the prenatal development and is located in a different part of the humans brain. Did you ever stop and think that most humans are not supposed to behave ‘autistically’ but they do in rare instances and they can’t help it because their brains were developed with too much testosterone. That’s why they are more aggressive and ego-centric than most men. Men and trans men also have the same lengths of ring finger and this was caused by testosterone (look it up)

    I was four years old when I started answering the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" with "a boy!" I never said the words "I AM a boy", etc. To all you haters commenting on this video, I am now 36 years old, and I started my transition at 34. I wish for all the world that I hadn't gone through my first puberty, and all those years of pain and uncertainty. Instead, I now have to go through surgeries to correct what puberty did. And yes, the pharmaceutical industry gained a customer for life with me. I love what testosterone has done for me.

      I sometimes wonder what soul agreement people have made that their soul chose such a difficult path - and I definitely include myself in that group. Are we super-advanced souls with more challenging paths or are we newbies so it all feels hard? ;) Anyway, kudos to you for staying true, following your path. I do think some teens/young adults are attracted to some of the gender-blending topics as a new sexual revolution, a way to push an envelope - just as my generation did with homosexuality. Some of my friends' pendulum swung back to their natural stance as they matured and partnered with opposite sex partners. I had half-hoped the same would happen for me, just for ease of living in this society. Alas, it was not to be (see first sentence). ;) I try to remember that, very often, the 'haters' of today are 'allies' of tomorrow...

      @ Dylan Carter "I sometimes wonder what soul agreement people have made that their soul chose such a difficult path" "Are we super-advanced souls with more challenging paths or are we newbies so it all feels hard?" I've never thought about it the way you put it here, but let me tell you that it is really interesting. I'd wished I knew someone knowledgable enough on this issue so we could actually discuss this subject as a possibility. Life is just so much harder for some and thinking the soul might be responsible for it, it actually makes some kind of sense to me as well!

      The idea of a soul's agreement to this life has helped me quite a bit in getting away from much of the struggle and suffering that comes with resisting/fighting to 'overcome' the past/present and control the future. I read a book on a near-death experience called The Application of Impossible Things, which then lead me on to reading other near-death experiences (e.g. Eben Alexander). Those folks sharing their experiences helped me to remember something I once knew as a kid: THIS IS NOT ALL THERE IS. Nor is this physical life the beginning or ending of "me"/consciousness. Because the five senses, and the noise of our world and culture, are so absorbing, we forget and this forgetting causes a LOT of suffering for us and others. Anyway - everyone finds their "remembering" in different places, but those types of books helped the light bulb come on for me. You can do a search to read more, too. Best to you - we're all in this together.

Baer was actually the first trans person born in 1885 and in December 1906, he became the first transgender person to undergo sex reassignment surgery, and he became one of the first transgender people to gain full legal recognition of his gender identity by having a male birth certificate issued in January 1907. He was 21 one years old when he transitioned which is the legal age I believe.

    So someone tell me what is gender specific behavior as a child and who defines it? Who defines what clothes are feminine and masculine? Anyone who has raised children knows they are known to resist efforts to dress them as we see fit and we are not always fond of their choices. The more of an issue you make of their "abnormal" behavior the more you reinforce it. Children are not born fitting a mold of feminine and masculine. They are very gender fluid and "cross dress". Where is it carved in cement that little girls must love frills and dresses and boys can't like wearing a "girl's" bathing suit? Its part of growing up, part of a child's very vivid imagination and fantasy life. The vast majority of children will identify with their birth gender as they go through puberty. Assuming parents have sense enough to let their children go through it and not inject them with physiologically and mentally devastating "puberty blockers", the long term effects of which are unknown. My toddler grandson still pulls "bunny rabbits" from his ear and thinks I can't see him when he shuts his eyes. You're telling me that in a few more years he is capable of making life altering decisions such as gender transition?
    These "parents" and "doctors" belong in prison. Josef Mengele would be proud.

And if this was truly only about the best interests of their child then why all the interviews? Why write a book? A for profit book at that? If this is truly meant to help other families in this situation then why not simply gift them a copy?
    I have absolutely no issue with transitioning...at an appropriate age..which this is clearly not. The mother claims they haven't done anything permanent. Even if they just avoided discussing it, letting the child pretend but not putting her into the role of trans, that would be better than "affirming" something that just isn't reality. I'm not the one that wants this child to have to suffer. I think the parents are being selfish. Everyone says it's fine and he can just detransition, but how likely is that after the parents have put the child in this terrible situation, everyone telling the kid she's so brave and the parents that they're so amazing.. She didn't want me to hate myself because I had freckles or having a big nose but to accept the fact that I have freckles and a big nose and I'm a girl and to embrace it and love it.
    I once was asked by a little boy way I was a girl and way he was a boy. I didn't want to confuse him so I told him let me think on the best why to say this. And I did and he learned acceptance that day.

Many having gone through physical alterations. Parents with good intentions not knowing any better. I do wish these parents all the love and especially wisdom in the world here but it does not help that we label people with the opposite opinion as 'haters'. Alex Thompson The chromosomes say XY but the brain was developed weeks after the sex chromosomes paired with the aid of hormones (oestrogen or testosterone). In rare cases such as transgenderism and autism, the brain is subjected to too much of a particular hormone, causing transgenderism or in the case of too much testosterone, autism. That’s why there are 5 times as many males with autism than females.

    • @alexthompson8977
      @alexthompson8977 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lee Rudman that would mean it is a mental issue so changing the body is wrong. They were not born in the wrong body they just feel that way. It's like a man who is born with a mental issue thinking the wall is talking to him. You wouldn't tell him the wall is talking even though he was born that way you would put him in an asylum. It is the same with trans people. However most people "born" this way grow out of it so it is very likely that these people just have a pyschological issue. Also based on what you are saying too much estrogen=transgenderism( since too much of the only other sex hormone=autism) The problem with that is that too much estrogen=female characteristics so that would mean they would be born with vaginas most likely.You see this confusion? The lgbt want to say all their members are born that way but that is just an excuse.

      I'm autistic and trans. I wasn't diagnosed until 15 or 16 (cant remember cause I was around my birthday) and the reason I wasnt diagnosed was because I didnt fit into the stereotypes of male autistic people (who tend to be more explosive with meltdowns and so its easier to pick up.). Females however, are harder to pick up on as they tend to lean more toward shutdowns rather than meltdowns and females will mask more because they have the pressure to be seen as 'the perfect women'. Boys, however, are allowed to do as they want as a kid and don't have the pressure to be mature like woman do so they dont tend to mask their autistic traits.

    I was like Ryland as a kid. If my parents made this choice for me, would I have been started on hormones early? Would I have felt gay when I started liking boys? Would I be happily married to the best man in the world with a son of my own. I'm glad they are paying attention but it is unfair to choose he be a he for him. They say ryland being a tomboy it's not just a phase bc phases end. Well I'm still a tomboy at 30. I am more like one of the guys than one of the girls. I wanted to play baseball not softball. I still choose cowboy boots and tennis shoes over heels. I prefer 4 wheelers and firing ranges over nail salons and shopping. I still prefer blue over pink. But I am a woman.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm all for making the transition when one is capable of understanding that decision. A 5 year old is not. I was a boy at 5 as much as Ryland was. I did grow out of it. People say this is honorable and deserves praise, but there is no evidence to prove it won't do psychological harm to Ryland when he grows up. And they are choosing for their child. A 5 year old cannot be expected to understand thus. A 5 year old cannot decide which parent is better to get custody. A 5 year old does not even get number grades in school bc they aren't old enough.
    Why not cut the hair, change the room, allow your child to grow into what he or she does, then cross that bridge. And honestly, it seems the parents are enjoying the spotlight - they sure are making money off it.

      +Just A Chick I understand and agree with a lot of what you're saying; I too was a huge tomboy as a child (although I liked girls' toys too), I wore boys' clothes (never wanted short hair, though!) and once in a while kids who didn't know me would ask if I was a boy or a girl. But here's where I think the difference between kids like me and you and kids like them is: I answered, "Girl." I always knew I was a girl, and while I liked to play guns and He-Man and catch crayfish in the creek, and wished I could play outside with my shirt off, I never actually wanted to BE a boy, or felt I was in the wrong body or anything like that. From what I've seen in these videos, these kids start declaring they're another gender and displaying those traits practically since learning how to talk and express themselves. But I agree that the whole thing can be confusing...I don't have children, but I can't even imagine how difficult it must be for these families.

Yet somehow all of these people think they know how to raise a child better than people who are literally professionals at dealing with children. For those who aren’t accepted by their parents, that risk is 8x more likely. Any rational person can deduce that this is a matter of life and death here. @GingerKidDiaries 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hhasslinger9601 Ryland's brain chemistry makes him a boy. While his biological sex may be female, his brain is male. Studies show that transgender individuals actually have the brain structures and composition of the sex they identify as. Scientists believe this starts in utero during fetal development, due to the wrong signals being sent from the brain to the rest of the baby's growing body, resulting in the development of the "wrong" genitals. They also think that this phenomenon is more likely to occur in pregnant women who have an imbalance of the appropriate hormones during pregnancy. His parents are making the right decision, because as of right now, everything they've done is reversible. Hair can be regrown, names can be changed back, and clothing can be changed. They haven't done anything that medically altered this child, nor will they even have the opportunity to start him on cross-sex hormones until he is in high school. This gives him plenty of time to live as a boy, seek out therapy (which is required for minors considering any kind of medical intervention), mature as he ages, and think about what it is that he wants for himself. With familial support he'll also have less risk factors, whereas LGBT kids without supportive families have a suicide attempt rate of about 40-60 percent, a 2-4 times higher substance abuse rate, and they make up to 40 percent of the youth homeless population in America. To me, it's a no brainer, considering the rate of transition related regret is significantly low.

      Why the heck are you comparing this to cocaine?

    • @williamchilds216

      .... We're mentally ill due to the fact we can't be ourselves. They can't be who they want to be. They're confined to one set thing. We're called names and slurs everyday.
      And people should let us do it because it's the only way we have that can help us. It's the only way that we have to be ourselves.
      And yes, but with cocaine, most people actually feel good about themselves, feel loved, feel like they are free to be themselves. With trans people, they're confined in a prison cell. We can't escape.
      How would you feel if someone was calling you the other gender? You wouldn't like it. You'd say something because it's not who you are but with us, we can't just say we're trans as we haven't come out, they haven't self accepted, they're scared, they're scared of being judged, scared of being called slurs, scared to be hated on.
      Overall, we're scared of ourselves.

      The 40% suicide rate has more to do with society than the transgender person themselves. the same as there is a high suicide rate among closeted gay teens as well. It really is an indictment on society. Depression and suicide stem from the fact of how these people are treated, Fear of being themselves fear the most important people in their lives(parents, family, friends, and peers) won't accept and love them for who they are. Fear that they will have to deal with judgy people all their life. In this case, the young boy's parents took that off the table they accept him for who is unconditionally that goes a long way to securing his future mental health.

      lakon childs yes be yourself by changing yourself because that makes sense. And all these parents say the same thing about suicide because they are afraid. Transgender people use it as a weapon.

      lakon childs because it’s in a similar vein of allowing your child to make and carry through on thoughts and decisions that they are too young to think carefully enough about....

    Multiple nationally televised interviews, a documentary, a book…hmmmmm. Yep, these parents TOTALLY have that kid’s best interests at heart. If they ACTUALLY cared deeply about the child, they would realize that parading the child around is disgraceful!!

    this is so NOT RIGHT!!!!!!!!! this child is not a transgender child.....this is a child in the middle of two parents that are crazy and should not be allowed to be parents....how dare you decide for this child...let the kid grow up and be what they want when their older...not when their little... I wanted to be a cowboy when I was a young girl...that doesn't mean I am a boy. it means I wanted to be a cowboy....stop putting this crap in their head...you parents are not right to abuse this kid....AT the AGE of 18 they can do what they want.......

    These comments are so sad. Let this little boy live his life. Is he bothering you or harming you in anyway? No? Okay. Shut up and take that transphobia elsewhere.

      But it does affect us. This is becoming the new normal which is terrifying. For centuries we have accepted that boys are boys and girls are girls but now that is changing to this nonsense. I won’t be raising my children like these crazy people but my child will still be surrounded by the lies. And that is not my child but I feel terrible for her and people like her.
