- On May 2nd of 2015 Manny Pacquiao faced Floyd Mayweather Jr. after pursuing the fight for more than 5 years. As everyone expected Floyd was going to have the judges advantage and this was going to be another bad decision for boxing. Between 2015 and 2018 boxing suffered. Bad decisions, early stoppages and PEDs controversies. Like Canelo against Golovkin and Ward vs Kovalev. The PPV model was dying and #MayPac was the start of the downfall spiral.
This is a remastered version of the first video I made for the channel back then a few days after the match between Floyd and Manny. This in a way defines both boxers. One taking the hard way winning or losing and the other talented but relying on having everything arranged even if he had the condition to make things happen naturally. It will be remembered in the boxing history as the end of an era with talents taking two different paths.
It doesn't matter how BoxRec.com, history or the commentaries on the tapes remember this fight. The public was vocal around the world and the consequences said that Manny Pacquiao beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. at his own game, counter-punching with a rotator cuff injury.

One thing that spoke volumes to me was that when the fight was over Manny said to Kellerman. “I thought I won.” He was convinced in his own mind and in the ring you know the truth.
Coupled that with the fact that Manny is a generally honest guy, he had no reason to lie, and he has lost before.

Thanks for composing this video. It helps to shed the lights when judges are bias. There needs to be some sort of final review to determine the actual winner at the end of the day to reverse such decision.
Floyd needed to win this fight by any means because he knows that his "0" is his only attraction, if loses that he wouldn't be marketable anymore because he's not exciting. Unlike manny even if he loses he would still attract viewers because he's an exciting fighter to watch.

As a boxing channel also, I watched the replays of this fight to feature this on a short video. I can clearly say, that Manny won this fight. But, if you're in the venue or watched it on TV live, there's a psychology already that if Manny would not KO Floyd you know that it will be decided in favor of Mayweather. I honestly thought also Manny won by split or draw after the fight. Anyway, the fight was already over. It was decided that Floyd won but in the hearts of many, Pacquiao won this fight in spite of all the drama surrounding this fight.

Manny Pacquiao is incredible in this fight. I've never seen Mayweather missed his punches this much. Think about the advantage of Mayweather, he has a freakshow of a 72" inches length advantage but he was having a hard time finding Pacquiao who was constantly moving forward. Defense in boxing are utilized for reading the enemies fighting habits and in which includes dodging, intercepting punches and blocking, not running until you get cornered and become a portable punching bag.

I watched this fight twice and I still thought Manny won. Why? It takes two people to fight. You have one guy pressing the action and the other either running or clinching borderline holding. Holding doesn't win fights. Mayweather is a great defensive fighter and I have seen his work many times, but in this match up he was just simply trying to avoid Manny the entire time. That's not how fighters were back in the days and that's not how you win fights. Nobody got hurt but Manny landed more punches and was the busier fighter so he should have won.

Not these edited and slowmotioned video clips but ive also watched the full 3minute of 12 rounds which was slowmotioned. im not basing my scoring through compubox just like the judges.manny landed most of his clean and hard punches in rounds 4 and 6 but floyd still won the majority of the rounds 1, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 controlling the fight and pace landing jabs, left hooks and counter rights. i gave manny rounds 4, 6, 10, 2 and 3...rounds 2 and 3 are rounds you can also easily give to floyd. that being said 7-5 rounds for floyd. even if you give another close round to manny which is round 7...still the fight would be a draw. and thats being generous giving manny 3 rounds that could easily be given to floyd....bottom line, floyd still landed the cleaner effective punches in the majority of the rounds
