  • Even though this fan film came out a few years ago, many have asked for us to react to it. I had only seen the first couple minutes and no one else had seen it, so it’s still fresh to us. Hope you enjoy it!

    Just some facts about that film for you.
    The producer put $25000 into that project and cancled a charity appeal so they wont get sued by Disney or LucasFilm
    Darth Maul was played by a Cosplayer who's trained in martial arts. Also it took 4 hours to do his makeup and he did it by himself.
    It took a total of 2 years to finish the project.
    The choreography was created by another martail art expert.
    After the film was released the producer told that they got multiple offers from Hollywood.
    I dont know if yall needed this information or if you already found out in behind the scenes but anyways this was a nice reaction. Keep that up. Also I'm sorry for my bad english xD

    The fight choreography was what sold it to me, and the acting (by every character after several rewatches) was what made me smile as I drove it off the lot. This fan film was more worth watching than anything Disney has put out. I'm not a fully trained "martial artist", but I have studied enough to see Maul using real world staff techniques and to know why he would. Also, they didn't have money to cgi those flips and dodges.

    I am a "Darth Maul Apprentice" Nerd and watched every reaction to this movie. Your reaction is ohne of the best. You focused on the movie and Not on the yelling "Oooooooooohhhhhh" into the cam. Like u are one of the few Who saw the Detail, that Maul switched from one blade to two blades in the first fight to Block an attack.
    Little sidenote: this movie was produced as a finals for a movieschool.
    Ps. Pls watch the behind the scenes

      @@kenpoarniceguy1 You are entitled to your opinion, but I agree with Max. He might have felt a twinge of pity when she was crying because he killed her master. But when she used her anger and hate to attack him at the end, and she refused to stay down... You don't feel pity for that opponent, you feel respect. Also, a Sith does not hesitate to kill a pitiful enemy, he/she just kills them whether your master is watching or not. She was not pitiful at the end. Kinda the point of the whole film mate.

      She was not able to equal him until she tapped into her hatred, once she did she was able to equalize his force push to the point that the were both knocked back. That proved that with the power of the dark side she could become a worthy apprentice. Darth Maul knows that at this moment he could not defeat Palpatine even with a strong apprentice, so he opts to continues playing the game a little longer, that's why his "Yes, My Master" is so tongue-in-cheek, because he knows by forcing him to kill her, Palpatine is stunting his grown and preventing him from gaining a strong enough apprentice to supercede him.

    • @renuzui
      @renuzui 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think that theory really makes sense. For one, the people who made this movie even said in the BTS that the point of this fan film was to show Maul’s final descent to the Dark Side. There’s nothing to suggest him wanting an apprentice.
      Plus, the ending implies that Maul wasn’t finished with his own training yet. Why would he want or even require an apprentice?? Again, that wouldn’t really make sense imo. I think the ending is just to show a moment of compassion from Maul, but of course Sidious is watching and he would find this to be a weakness. So he had no choice but to use all of his anger to finally kill that girl. You can tell by the actor’s face alone that what he was feeling in that moment was pity, there was no deceitfulness or scheming in his expression.

    he didnt want to let her go, he wanted her as his apprentice but the sith rule is that there can only be one master and one apprentice, Darth Maul was the apprentice to Sidious before Vader. He wanted to make her sith, but couldn't because Sidious was watching, So in turn, he killed her.

  • @JohnDoe-dj3lw
    @JohnDoe-dj3lw 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    He was hesitating because he saw that once the Padawan gave in to the Dark Side she gained strength, so she had potential and he wanted to take her on as his apprentice (he was thinking about it). But in the 2 OG trilogies, while the Sith are rising again (and have finally arisen) the rule is: there can only be 2 Sith at a time, the Master and the Apprentice (in the Old Republic, 20000 years before, it was the complete opposite however). Anyway, had he not killed her, it would have been betrayal to his Master, the Emperor and he would have paid with his life, if so. So he was being watched all the time for this reason. It was, as the Emperor said at the end, his training. Not only for his saber skills, his ability to face other Force users, but for his LOYALTY. Maul didn't need to prove that he was cold-blooded, he had already slaughtered 4 Jedi at that point...I hope this helps to read the scene :)

    Just a heads up. Maul didn’t have empathy for her. He saw potential in her and wanted to train her, but he knew the Emperor was watching him, so he couldn’t. The Sith abide by the Rule of Two. At any period of time, there are only 2 Sith. A master and an apprentice, no more and no less. If Maul tried to train her, it would be seen as treason against the Emperor, so he had to follow through and kill her. You can see him look up at the surveillance droid at the end twice. He knows he is being watched

    there could be a reason for the color change according to his bio all those black and red markings aren't his natural skin color but tattoos. I have one on my shoulder that for the first few years it was brightly colored but as years went by the color started to diminish, this was most likely several years before E 1 happened so the tat's would loose their bright color

    This short story did Darth Maul justice. The facial subtexts from Darth Maul is great and had a narrative. Btw..the reason why the images look clean is because 90% of the shots were done with Blackmagic camera 4K, the other 10% were with DJI Ronin drone and epics shots with Red Camera. I give Darth Maul 10/10 ... in comparison with Phantom Menace where the fight looked too choreograph and here you can tell there's an emotional and physical subtexts throughout the entire fight... I say it's more perfect than Phantom Menace. Phantom Menace didn't do Darth Maul any justice...come on now.

    • @PoindexterLounge
      @PoindexterLounge  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with that. As much as I love the idea of Maul I’ve always said the saber duel was way to choreographed. No emotion in it. I know people argue with that but I liked the OT fights between Vader and Luke because of the emotion.

    The sith will always win because the light side will not do what is necessary to bring balance to the force. This is why Grey jedi exist they are neither evil or good they keep balance of the force is what Anakin was supposed to due is basically be a grey Jedi. he is not evil or purely good he determines what is right for the force. Mace Windu was a grey jedi Freaking powerful as hell as he had the dark side and light even Yoda knew the true meaning of the force and what neded to be done

    • @PoindexterLounge
      @PoindexterLounge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment. I’ll just say that I feel there are a few flaws with that view. The first being with the Sith I’ve never won Norwill day and I’m not sure what do you mean by the Jedi won’t do what’s necessary because it’s not about the Jedi as a whole it’s about the individual Jedis Levin chosen to bring balance to the force or whatever particular time. Also to address your second point, there is no such thing as a gray Jedi. Great Jedi are made up fan thing. You’re either a Jedi or you’re not there is no in between. Yes you can be a force user and be in between utilizing both the Darkside in the light side but you were not a gray Jedi. You’re simply a force user, or like the Benduu you’re just in between. I know that there are many who hold on to this idea of gray Jedi, but this is been specifically stated that there’s no such thing. Being a Jedi is a choice and I discipline. Also there are no dark Jedi. These are terms that we have fans latched onto in years past because that was the best way that they were described to us. But now that we know canon we know that those terms don’t actually exist. Just because you’re a Darkside user does not make you a Sith. This is a misconception that many people have about Kylo Ren. He was never a Seth he followed the Darkside. Just because you follow the light side it does not make you a Jedi. I’ve said this before and I plan on making a video about it, but it’s just like saying you believe in God. Saying you believe in God does not make you a Christian, a Muslim, a Jew, or any other religion. There are specific things And life choices you need to make to consider yourself one of those religions. Same holds true with the Jedi.
      There are even some Jedi the tablet time with Darkside forces. Even Luke did this in return of the Jedi. His anger and frustration is what powered him to be able to overcome later. But in the end he overcame the temptation and ended up on the light side. So when you mention qui gon and others, it’s not that they were gray Jedi. They were simply Jedi who did what needed to be done to fit the moment, but in the end they were fully ingrained in the light side
