@@thegoodtom1718 Yes, of course ... after the baby is born and when Natelie has fully recovered but like many other ytbr/vanlifers who've had babies, their life changes and priorities shift, with far less sleep. 😆I would think having a newborn on the road fulltime would not be conducive to good mntl health. haha Getting a home base and taking short trips would be more manageable, IF they even have the desire or energy to continue van life.

Your map route across Ohio appears to be just the north. If you can and have time, check out South and Central Ohio. Southern Ohio has awesome places like Cantwell Cliffs, Old Man's and Ash caves. Central Ohio has the Airforce museum in Dayton, the Mansfield area has the Shawshank tour, and tons of other things to do. Fairfield in southern Ohio outside of Cincinnati has the coolest grocery store ever, Jungle Jim's, Nelsonville has Rocky Boots, and a train ride. And much much more ❤

Hey, Jimmie, that's no "creek" flowing through Goosenecks State Park, it's the San Juan River, one of the largest tributaries of the Colorado River. In fact, you spent most of your time in this video exploring the San Juan River drainage, which includes the Animas River, a San Juan tributary running through both Silverton and Durango.
You can be forgiven for confusing rivers and creeks, given that you come from North Carolina, where the creeks are bigger than our rivers are out west! 🙂

Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad (Elbe, WA)
North Shore Scenic Railroad (Duluth, MN -- Duluth is worth a detour...)
      Valley Railroad (Essex, CT)
Conway Scenic Railroad (North Conway, NH)

now then, as far a 'traveling on the cheap' you toast your sandwitch bread, ( that kills any bacteria or stuff, so you don't have to worry about the bread 'growing stuff' , then you put the peanut butter on each side of the bread and then put HONEY on the insides of the peanut butter and it will last several days ! I used to work on the railroad and often couldn't find anywhere to eat,,,,so I made and carried my dinners with me!

Durango Silverton train is a must do for anyone in the area. I splurged and paid for the car on the end of the train with only about 18 people. We got to sit on the end of the train and look back. The town of Silverton is cool to visit too. Durango has been over run by people from other states upping the real estate prices so locals can't afford to live there.

When you travel through New England, in particular, stay off the highways as much as you can. The scenery is pretty good but the traffic can be intense. There are many 2 lane roads with great scenery throughout the Northeast. The scenery is more charming and less dramatic, overall. But you can't see that charm from the highways.

About the eye surgery I have watched someone telling consequenses of such (I believe it was mentioned Lasik or somthing). The guy told he was mainly happy for the results, but he said there was some distracting effects in the eyesight when in very low light i.e. nighttime. The point is, if you drive in night you might want to keep yourself little bit more aware that there could be some visual effect the surgery might result to your vision. Nothing biggie but always better to know for possible glitches.

Congrats on the vision Jimmy. You should know that Lasik only lasts 20 years roughly, then you can do it maybe one more time for another 20 years. So 40 years max and then it cannot be done again. So my wisdom I'm sharing is that he is young and should plan out when to use the last 20 years of good sight in his life. My father in-law at the end of his 40 years. Had Lasik twice. Now can't hardly see with glasses. Since you are seeing the world now, it makes sense he should fix his sight now, but when it begins to wear off in 20 years, he should consider to possibly wear glasses again for a decade or so before he gets it done a second time.

We love your new road trip. We live in CNY. We will be looking forward to seeing what you do in our area. The finger lakes are beautiful, we love the 1000 Islands in northern NY. Our favorite campground is Cedar Point in Clayton NY. The Adirondacks are beautiful also. We love Old Forge, Inlet,Lake Placid. One of our favorite parks is Lake Durant. Enjoy your journey.

Glad to see you made it out of Mexico. I was thinking Jimmy was working the Donkey tent, to feed your jonesing burro watching habit.

Hi Jimmy & Natalie. Best of luck on your new adventure. Looking forward to following along. It was so great to see Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods (can you believe how bumpy that road is?!?) and Goosenecks State Park ... three of my favourite places that I visited on my way down to Baja. Cheers. Kevin

Such a fun train ride. Did the same in july 2014. Stayed in a camp ground next to the river with the tracks running through the grounds. 2 trains out and back everyday. There was a free city tram from the campground to the train station. We rode the us up to Silverton and rode the train back down to Durango. It was very expensive...over 100.00 per person. Cheaper than Disney with way better view.
