    I wanted to go over my pre-exercise routine because I see so many people in the gym continuing to do the same exercise variations without questioning "How well do I connect with this?" or even more importantly "Is there a movement I connect more with?". Once you start asking yourself this and adjusting your workouts accordingly you'll start to pack on some serious mass!

    Here is a mini review of the first week I did so far.
    Do be fair to Ryan, I won't mention the exercises that I did.
    The first thought that came to my mind when I first glanced at the sets that I had to do was " damn that is A LOT of repetitions ". For those that have been watching Ryan for quite some time, you know.
    But here is the catch, it was hella fun and it pushed me to the edge.
    I have been going to the Gym for about 5 years now and the reason I bought the course is because I had implemented some of Ryan's exercises into my workouts and it they clicked really well.
    Not disappointed at all.
    Day 1 Arms = Noticed my Triceps actually swelling up, loved it.
    Day 2 Shoulders = Ouch ( in a good way )
    Day 3 Back = This has to be one of the best days in the course, either that or I simply connected a lot with it. Seriously, really fkn good.
    Day 4 Chest abs = Same as the back day, really really good. Also, fuck TRX ABS ( I still did em )
    Day 5 Legs = I had trouble walking down the stairs, I don't think I need to say more.
    Over all, it is 20 bucks, really REALLY well structured. Contains a video AND written instructions - insanely easy to follow along and nothing that an ordinary gym does not have.
    I can highly suggest Ryan's course so far and I hope that the upcoming weeks will as good as this one.

      Yes, your triceps and arms swell up because of the pump. You are pushing blood into the muslce and making it look fuller, but because the weight is so light, it is measly just an uncomfortable burning sensation in the triceps, but the triceps are not actually reaching muscular failure. So, bottom line, you won’t make significant gains with such training. This has been backed by science. Try doing moderate weight and failing on the 10-15 rep range for actual muscular failure. Hope this helps you out.

    Doing “feel sets” at the the start of each exercise is a game changer. I know Ryan’s style of fitness has really changed my workouts. His new program is insane!!!

      I literally do 5-10 reps of "feel out" before I even do my warm up sets just to see what im hitting best on be it a different piece of equipment or a different angle

    This video should be the "sticky" video on your homepage, Ryan. Seriously, the mind-muscle connection is the big takeaway for me. It's astonishing how I could go into the gym so often and just go through the motions. Other muscle groups jump in, you depend on momentum or let the tendons do the reps. Crazy. When I make the muscle work and feel it working in every rep, the results are... well tbh, painful, but also glorious. You know when you feel the muscle's soreness all the next day or for several days that your workout was effective. Thanks, Ryan!

    Back when I used to lift, around 20-years ago, I started each exercise off with the lowest weight possible. For example, if I was benching I'd do 10 slow reps with just the bar, for exactly this reason. I got the idea from a Nasser el Sonbaty interview in Flex. Proper technique is so much more important than how much weight you're lifting.

      I don't think you can actually judge your form while using such low weight. If I try to squat with just the bar, or bench, it feels odd because there's pretty much no difficulty or resistance. The bar is almost floating. You should warm up with a weight you can rep out 15-20 with mild fatigue just to see how your form holds up.
      I don't care if Ryan does it, and I think his training has it's place, but a grown man should never be touching dumbbells under 20 lbs for pretty much anything. There's just going to be no stimulus, why do a hundred reps when you can get the same with 15?

    Nice to know I was taught properly, always warmed up with light weight or even an empty bar and just did really controlled continuous reps with occlusion bands, focusing on form.
    I would go to failure then take the bands off and straight into 5-10 reps of whatever weight my trainer decided to punish me with.
    He did this to me for every exercise once a week for one hour, in 9 months I'd dropped from 123kg body weight to 85kg, BMI from 24% to 8% stacked on 18kg of muscle.
    Had me leg pressing 350kg PB
    Benching 140kg PB
    Deadlift 230kg PB
    Then through my own competitive stupidity royally Fkd myself and popped out three ribs from my sternum completely and tore my rotator cuff which put me out for almost a year.
    Got back on it last week and Ryan dude you're motivating me more than ever.
    Getting after it!

    I think personally you should keep doing you with the variations. I love them and feel like it’s much needed for us who are still trying to figure out what works best to grow

    Just finished the 30 day garage style program yesterday. Lost 9 lbs of fat and I’m looking more muscular. Gonna do it all over again just because I was really impressed with the results. Thanks Ryan, these workouts kicked my ass, but I can’t get enough of them. This is the 3rd training program I’ve tried from TH-cam and the best so far. It’s really not for beginners so I could see why you’ve gained a few “influencer” haters. Anyway, keep up the great content. I’ll be checking out your 30 day gym program next month.

    So true. My workout changes based on what exercises I'm actually connecting with. I used to just try and push weight and never really connected. It's all about that connection and you actually see results. He's right about seeing the same people doing the exact same thing and never looking any different.

    I'd like to start off by saying there was a video I had watch awhile ago of yours. You talked about getting blood work done and also having the lab check your hormone levels. I requested that, with my last blood work and glad I did. Turns out my testosterone was only at half of what it should be at. My doctor now has me on testosterone for the next 90 days to see how it all goes. Thank you very much for all you do to help improve people's health.

    Great comment on phases… how about the 55 plus phase where our younger workouts felt great and now you feel like a wounded dog after a bad night of sleep. Ryan, love the information and comedy… put a common sense workout on that accommodates us older guys.

    I would like to thank you Ryan, because after following your videos - I have already noticed the muscle build.
    However, having a metabolism from hell itself, I train until I "feel it" (no pain - no gain), but the vid's you provide have been giving me the best results so far.
    What I do for a living? Well, could call me a warehouse worker, I move a lot of boxes in different sizes and they all weigh different.
    Thus, the need for me to workout is almost a must, without strength - I can't do what I want to do..

    I have to say what you do is definitely not overkill. There’s certain things you do I just physically can’t do (thanks arthritis) so having multiple options to work one muscle is great. Keep doing what you’re doing 👍🏻

    I've been doing this since I started watching your videos. Some days the exercises that usually get me a great connection just don't do it so I change what I'm doing. Seems simple enough but I never did it before I just kept with the plan even if it didn't do what I wanted it to. Great content.

      @@VaytexFX if I find a new exercise that hits really well I'll keep it till a day it doesn't. Progressive overload is nice but sometimes people get caught up too much in nuance. Another thing Ryan has said is just grab weight and make your muscles do shit they don't want to. Reps sets and even weight doesn't really matter as much as making it hurt

    Connected so much more with my muscles from watching these videos , so far positive results confirmed by the scale and the tape 😂 top bloke , but must say nearly sicked up a few times and passed out but once you get that proper connection You Just Know game changer cheers Ryan ps the burn I get from finishing a set then holding that weight in the connect position for as long as possible damnnn the burn

    That's what works for me I get to the gym and see how I feel and see what's available on that day and then map out my workout. Certain excercises get dropped or sets added depending on connection. I have one excercise I focus on for each group to progressive overload on to keep track of in some way for strength but for the most part it's all by feel. I still build plenty of muscle and strength and progress more than most that do a set and wait 5 minutes or talk on their phone for 2 hours and I'm done in 45 min!

    Made it through the first two days of the full gym program….LOVE IT, great job, only you’re cheating yourself. It’s worth waaaaay more than $20. And oh, I started doing bus drivers after following one of your other shoulder videos, and now bus drivers are my favorite exercise! Your shoulder workouts are fantastic, I’m finally seeing growth doing your workouts. Keep up the great work Ryan, much appreciated.

    The old Joe Weider book of bodybuilding used to call this the instinctive training principle. I am sure he learned this from the great Bob Hoffman who called it the irregular training system, and then Weider changed the name of it, to take credit for it of course. Nothing is really new under the Sun.

    To an outsider, it does seem like you're reinventing the wheel. I used to be that ahole who always did the same exercises, the same form, rinse and repeat. You taught me how to stop being a robot and focus on the connection, and the 8 weeks or so have been awesome! I was strong before, but I didn't really grow. Now I'm growing significantly for the first time in my life 😂 and I'm old asf now

    Dude, you rock. I just started lifting with my husband about a year and a half ago, but he's been at it for 25 years and he tells me the same stuff you do and this stuff seriously works! You're dead on, unlike so many dumbasses on here that are the equivalent to the "unsolicited advice asshole" at everyone's gym. It makes me wonder why people even take advice on strength training or mass building from a dude that resembles a 12yr old boy.       It's not about what they did to get that jacked, it's about what they preach online. Often those two things are not the same. They need to sound different/unique to sell products and get views. That being said, I love Ryan.

Your comedy with his genuine sincerity would have made a great video.     I always thought this was just a given. I go in with a plan every session, do a 'feeler' set for whatever exercise to see how my muscles are connecting. If it doesn't feel like it should I just switch exercises. Some days the go-to exercises don't connect for whatever reason. I notice it more with biceps than anything. I haven't been feeling as much activation on barbell and dumbbell curls, so have been doing cable curls and that lights them up.

    Makes perfect sense to me. If you're connecting doing that variation, go for it and make it hurt. I can personally attest to the "concentrate on the flex" concept. I did a Russian kettlebell instructor course a while back, and they taught a "hard style" technique where you focus on really engaging those muscles all the way through a movement. It will get the you "connecting" with those exercises, and really getting a lot out of your workouts. Also makes you realism that people doing a "five minute plank" without literally exploding aren't really doing a plank. They just took five minutes deciding that they don't really wanna do those pushups they've been contemplating.

    Hiya Fuzz face, hello from England, last time I went drinking with a Canadian was New York 78 and we fell of the bar stools at around 3am I was impressed with him he knew his limits. Great Videos but what about us over 60s....Come on fuzz ball you can do it

    Hi Ryan , im a 2 years into bodybuilding beginner , i've shown great results in everything but my biceps . It is because every single workout the brachioradialis gets in the way , no matter what range what elbow position , i do get a little pump in the heads but at the expense of a harsh burnout in the brachio , to the point where they are the strongest part of my arm now , ((popeye)).

    I believe the mind/muscle connection is THE most important factor in muscle growth. Not necessarily how much weight.

    Some of my buddies at the gym used to find it amusing that I do my sets with my eyes closed, and no audio devices either. I tell them cause it's the only way I can make a connection cause I'm easily distracted.
