- This is a quick filming just to show the trick. It was captured by placing a piece of tape on her face beside her ear. I have lumped in a couple of things for speed (was trying to see what angle showed trick best, how far away she needed to be) asking for two covers to see if i can get duration, as well as tested to see if Lucy remembered the 'other side' cue we stared working on last time. NOT my usual training session.
@MultiAnimalcrackers Thanks! I have been asking for two 'covers' and hope that she gets lazy and offers me longer 'covers'. It worked with the 'hold' behavior for a retrieve so it might work with this one. So far I have gotten 2 seconds so that's a start! it's using the extinction burst to add duration.
Love Lucy's cover your eyes trick! She loves to work with you! I tried the tape method too and Ricky was afraid of the tape - silly!
wow Lucy is going really great with the shame trick. You can tell she's loving it! Yes I also started Chase in the postion too becuase it was a litle hard for to the balance when standing. But Lucy is looking great with this trick!
Lucy is doing so well with that trick...i dont know if it helps to get duration but i asked Inca for this when she was in a sit position as she found it more comfortable..her balance was better so that she could keep her paw at her eye for longer...hope this helps:))
@Rickyagility Jessie just stands there thinking is is another desensitization exercise. I may have to use targeting or shaping to get it with her. She laid down and started offering a cute nose tuck under crossed paws so I think I might try to capture that instead!
I love Lucy :) that was awesome :)
Lucy is so smart! :)
I got the same face-swiping behavior today with my Chihuahua/Terrier mix by blowing softly on his face. (You can also use a small post-it note.) He caught on within a few reps and started offering it without the blowing. Any more ideas for cute cues? Wipe your face? Are you bashful? If I could get him to hold his paw there, I could call it Don't look! :- )
