Great video, brother. The first time I heard "Take This Life" back when the album dropped, I couldn't hear anything other than a calling out to Christ. Anders isn't saved but this song can definitely be a love song to Christ
This was a time period in In Flame's history that I had a lot of trouble getting into. While I can appreciate how good the song is nowadays, when Come Clarity came out, I wasn't into it because I fell in love with In Flame's old Melodic Death Metal albums like Whoracle, The Jester Race, and Colony. I was one of those guys for years that just refused to hear anything else they put out. This album has grown on me considerably since then though.
@@BipolarDistortion I'll defer to you on this. So mute, then staccato really fast? Are they muting with their right or left hands you think? Sounds super tricky but maybe it's par for the course in fast metal songs
Not sure I'd classify them that way just since I understand Lorna Shore to be deathcore (and they don't sound that similar to me). But I try not to be too dogmatic on the subgenre discussion anymore.
Blast from the past classic!
Live life to the fullest & give honor God!
Great song..fantastic band...always categorized them as Swedish death metal...definitely made metal what it is today.

Thanks for checking it out! I think there were several songs back then that people interpreted like that.

I figured you would have been into their old stuff haha. For me, albums after A Sense Of Purpose were the ones I didn't appreciate much at first.
I'm pretty sure that the guitars are still playing a downstroke even while playing on the upbeat. They're just playing staccato notes, good muting.

weren't these guys deathcore?
