Nice video. I'd only heard of roll over plows a few years ago and not seen a video of one in use. Not something anyone in the area of Minnesota I am from ever had. By the 70s, semi-mounted plows were popular but my Dad stuck with trailer plows as he thought they did a better job.
I'd love to get a 730 with a 3 point hitch. Only a 3 bottom plough? We used to pull 4 -16's in pasture and 5 bottoms on stubble without any problem. Even our Model D case would pull 4 bottoms on stubble.
Funny to watch things from different areas. You never see a roll over plow down south in the red clay. 😅. We’d turn with a disc plow or a bottom plow and then harrow to smooth the clods.
Where did you fInd a JD plow with the steel trail wheels? My Granddad had a JD 45 3 bottom plow with the steel trail wheel. That plow would really do a great job and leave the field level. The steel wheel would help support the back end of the plow much like a semi mounted plow. It would do a much better job than a standard land slide. If you could pull it fast enough, it would do a great job. The John Deere NU bottoms had to be pulled fast enough to totally roll the furrow over. Very nice set up you have there.
Not that impressive only a three bottom I've broke sod bound old hayfield and pasture that hadn't seen a plow for forty years and did it with a A John Deere 3-16s and it handled it fine that 730 should just play with that plow
Brings back a lot of memories
Have the same setup, both bought new. Still a pleasure to spend a 12 hour day listening to the 730 run. WOULD Not trade for two of these new tractors.
You have to love the roll over plows, my favorite.
Good Sounding 730D and Doing a Wonderful Job of Plowing

0:22 so this is how they grow shovels
😆
That tractor could pull a4 bottom.
We had a JD 730D and pulled a 5 bottom plow in 4th gear in stuble and 3rd gear in sod
In sand
The results are the same with older equipment vs new equipment. Paid for equipment vs $200,000.00 debt and equipment you can’t even work on.

you`re ploughing too fast.
We pulled 4 bottoms at 5 3/4 mph. That was too fast!
Guy says you were plowing to fast. It a
Was perfect. That.plow is designed for 4.6 miles per hour for max performance.
Well now i know what kind of plow i want to buy for my 730D i just bought.
