I'm still very optimistic about a VR mode for this title. If anything (for example) when GT7 was announced, they did not announce the VR component until it was closer to its release date, so it would be more of a marketing strategy from Sony's angle. Astro Bot is nowhere near as popular as Mario/Luigi and Sonic the Hedgehog in terms of being a mascot in my opinion as they have just solely relied on popular franchises to carry the generations of consoles throughout the decades. If Astro Bot had more of a presence in other games similar to what Nintendo does with Mario with multiple titles yearly, then they should have remastered the original Astro Bot for the PSVR2 also.

There is a chance that the game is going to be playable in VR, but will it add anything to the experience? The original VR game had controller tracking, and your head tracking was used for things like dodgi g attacks and breaking obstacles, and being able to see things you wouldnt on a flat screen. My worry about hybrid games, is that they dont add much to the game other than 3D, and most people will just play on TV even if they have a PSVR2
I have a feeling a VR Mode is coming for Astro, or that it's at least still in the realm of possibilities. RE4 wasnt announced for VR and Sony funded that proj after the popularity of RE7 & RE8. I think people are jumping the gun on writing off PSVR2 now... but Sony has done very poorly in communicating and keeping the early adopters engaged and hopeful for the super special games.. so it's kinda Sony's doing but the adult gamers should really be understanding enough to know that it's not over till its over. The game JUST got announced and maybe VR mode cant even start till flat is gold. Afterall, it COULD make sense to get the flat gamers hype for the game and let them not get deterred by even the shared mention of psvr2; some of them might assume its not mainly a flat game.. but then once they're pretty used to the idea of playing astro, then you bring up a VR mode. Obviously a VR specific astro game would be amazing but.. I think it makes sense for Sony to want to do the better ROI first since virtually every ps5 gamer got to try and love Astro's playroom.
I think the angle here was accessibility, the amount of people who know this character from the PS5 pack in instead of the VR game when they saw the trailer really says enough, it would kind of silly to lock a game like this behind VR completely when you could broaden the appeal, though I could definitely see it being a hybrid.
There are other great games in the store. Some are similar to astrobot, and there are some good ones coming. If you like vr astrobot should not holdnyou back. My opinion 😀
@@virtualjosh13 the vast majority of PSVR2 games are horror and I do not play horror games, particularly in VR. One of my favorite teachers years ago told me, "Garbage in, garbage out" and "if you stare into the abyss long enough you become it". VR could be such beautiful therapy for people, but horror just warps the mind in unexpected ways.
I have played a couple of vr games, and it has potential. I do agree with you with the horror games, I'm not a fan of myself. Have to play some for my channel 😅

Max mustard is a platformer much like astro bot.
Is should not be to long before it releases on the psvr2.
It's simple for me, no ASTROBOT2 on PSVR2 means I will not purchase a PSVR2.
