- Vampire Survivors Part 27 - because no evolved weapons wasn't hard or exciting enough. This challenge is being tackled on Green Acres hyper mode, so don't expect it to be easy. I need a lot of luck to go my way here.

I personally think this is more interesting than a win. So tight eight seconds away from victory. Usually I just look at the time of the video and guess if it's going to be a win but that did not work for this episode 🤣

Pentagram did make it worse at the end there. You were barely holding off because you had enough area damage to weaken the enemies before they reached you, but once pentagram went off, you got swarmed by a fresh wave of newly-spawned, full health enemies. Like you say, clock lancet would have been much better for this challenge.
this was very entertaining, definitely enjoyed it even if you didn't win. I really like seeing the close runs whether they win or not, makes for more entertaining content! really been enjoying the Vampire Survivor stuff, can't wait to see more of this and other games
is it possible that the chance of jackpot is relative to your level based on time? Because it feels like most of the time you've gotta jackpots you were a relatively low level compared to the time of the game, likely due to a specific challenge.

Chests seem just kinda bad for this challenge when you wanna keep as many upgrades for levels as possible

it's a double-edged sword; a chest can only give you upgrades for items you have, but it also means you have less levels to work with. if anything, i'd say chests are good, but jackpots are the enemy, dropping you by two or four available levels.
Leveling up also make the monsters stronger, but I can see your point
ok, I am honestly surprised. Not that you made it that far, anyone who watches knows that you are a great gamer. What amazes me is you managed to make it without grabbing super experience at the end. I was honestly expecting this challenge to be legit impossible because of how much exp drops during the final 2 minutes, especially the last minute. That was enjoyable, and its cool to see that it can actually be done.
Amazing run and challenge! Honestly you being lucky with those jackpots was actually very unlucky, since leveling no longer had a chance to give you those upgrades. Early on it was good to get vandelier faster but that 5x garlic upgrades was terrible. Totally think this is doable though with clock lancet and less jackpots.
8 flippin seconds, I'd say that's close enough to a win.

For anyone who wants to fully optimise the whip, it’s attacks aren’t set in a certain pattern. Meaning if you time your directions correctly, you could get up to 3 to 4 attacks in one single direction with massive damage output

that was such a close round, had me on the edge of my seat near the end LMAO
I think for challenges like this, you'd be better off to do some modding. While I do understand the fun in trying to do it with no adjustments at all, the real challenge - in my eyes - is to do the run without any items, not to do it without items and equally gamble to not random into an item. Even worse when you max out and have to avoid XP the entire time.
A simple way to solve this would be to edit the amount of Skips to a high amount. I did this in a "Soul Eater Only" Challenge and didn't defeat the challenge or purpose of the challenge in my eyes.
Surely you'd think that Bone would be the one to level up with skull... I mean it just makes sense.. Maybe it could make a second mini-Mortacchio follow you arround and copy all your attacks at 50% dmg

so when the screen is cleared all the enemys spawn at once witch means while before you had them layered with the lowest hp nearest after the screen clear you had all at max hp and pushing each other into you but this was absolutly an insane run i was allmost sertain you would have died arround 20min mark
I think you need all of the AoE weapons - Bible, Santa Water, Vandalier, Garlic, Song of Mana, and probably whip. probably want to use a different hero too which would be based more around the AoE aspect.
Wicked challenge though, I never would have thought about something as masochistic as this though xD.
Apparently, pentagram has a default chance of 5% to not destroy items, without any luck odds, even on level 1 and 2

Hey! in case you try to do this again, i would like to advocate as to why Poppea might be the right choice: firstly, song of mana is like top 3 best weapons in the game. the early game is easy and you can only struggle against strong enemies, and thats where vanalier comes in. as a plus, poppea's duration powerup synergizes with both vandalier and song of mana (and leaves room for king bible, santa water or clock lancet to be OP). as much as i love bones, i prefer overwhelming power.
While I understand you saying no to stone mask, where it only gives you a window of respite, I'd say crown is a fair option to allow in this challenge.
It's flaws are extenuated in a challenge like this, it may help you gain power early on but it makes picking up EXP in the late game more punishing.
Ngl, it felt like garlic knockback was essential in surviving as long as you did without needing to move as much.
Clock lancette would've only been optimal if you moved with it, which necessitates orb pick up.

You can do the one weapon challenge by editing the weapon stats of everything but the weapon you want to be zero! (And then you can do it on library or the new one to pick up a level right away without actually killing anything)
That garlic jackpot killed you.
Needed that upgrade path as a buffer
The highest level you can get to, without items, is 49 without Vandalier (5 weapons all 8 levels, 1 weapon 7 levels, plus starting level and skip) or 64 (6 weapons all 8 levels, 2 weapons 7 levels, plus starting level and skip) with it. This assumes no chests for leveling weapons.

That update is still on open beta, so unless Tyler switches over to the open beta, we'll have to wait until the update is fully out
FYI: luck also increases the chance of getting offered a level on a weapon/item you already have instead of seeing a new one

Think I would have allowed taking items that don't affect your combat effectiveness - so Stone Mask, Skull O'Maniac, Clover (as long as you don't use it to upgrade Cross) and Crown (once past all your weapon upgrades).
I mean, 29:52 feels like a win to me. Good job!
I think clock lancet would actually be worse, since you have to move through the enemies making it more likely to pick up orbs, pentagram should probably go though
To be honest i love when you upload the lost games. When you did inscription kacy mod the only thing that Makes me consider the series not Perfect was basically lack of uploaded losses. I'm happy that you are mortal after all

it would be nice if they added a custom mode where you could disable items or weapons for challenges like this.
will we play more Frostpunk? maybe a new scenario? Frostpunk is surprisingly meaningful during this hard times with war and corona

I feel like it might have been a good idea to allow stone mask. It provides no benefit in game, and basically allows more “skips” by taking its upgrades over other items
Edit: skull o maniac could be a consideration too

IMO whip is an S tier weapon. Once upgraded and it heals you you’re extremely durable.
Moving might be better than standing still if you want to avoid exp, since you leave the exp behind you

I'd say that Stone Mask should be allowed for this challenge, seeing as it has no affect on the run itself, 'n' it would help stop losses due to railroading.
Honestly, I think if you allowed items like armor, crown, stone mask, etc that this challenge would still be viable. More about not taking items that help with outputting more damage. At least to me, I enjoyed the video and will keep watching

I think the hardest challenge would be the new map on hyper mode with max curse and no meta upgrades. Obviously you could do no items to make it harder but at that point its just not fun

If you didnt take any chests other than vandalier then you'd have more (potential) levelup leway. Though despite that, you lasted far longer than I would have expected, I was waiting for the accidental levelups "any second now" when you maxed out
Haven't you already done a "no items" challenge when you did the "kill the reaper" run? The strategy was to sit and avoid leveling for as long as possible and then do a bunch of leveling after the reaper spawned.
Pretty sure he used items in that run. Sure not until the reaper spawned but item's are items

If you wanted to to a 1 weapon run, you could always edit the game file to give yourself a whole bunch of skips (I’m pretty sure this would work, I’m not smart with programming)
The panda is better than Mortacio for this - the exploding cherry bombs are better for making space than the bones!

I must not understand what 'Items' are.
I thought, does that mean no levelling up or skipping all the weapons? No
Does that mean no picking up the random drops? No, he picked up a magnet orb.
Does that mean no chests? No, he picked up a ton of chests.
Does that mean none of the meta upgrades? That's really the only thing I can think of honestly.

Does running over an attract orb count? because you did do that at one point when you got the 6 or so levels. But I don't know what counts as an item in this game 🤷♀️
So, just went through the math, and it turns out that that jackpot you got actually hurt you more than it helped you. If you got only weapons, which is the point of the challenge, and got lucky enough to go for Vandalier, you could get a maximum of 62 upgrades from levels, meaning that that jackpot which got you 5 weapons, none of which were evolved weapons (aka vandalier), took away 5 of those maximum level up capabilities from you, leaving you with level 58 for Mortacio. In other words, you suffered from success.
You should use yatta cherry bomb is so op it out dmgs and dpss rune tracer in most of my runs
