  • The oldest declared Forest Reserve in the Western Hemisphere, the Main Ridge Forest Reserve is a majestic green space which dominates the upland area of the island of Tobago. This site is a haven for naturalists, among them birdwatchers, causing the Forest Reserve to receive many accolades and awards as a major ecotourism destination. Several endemic species are found here including the Bloody Bay Frog and it is also home to the Environmentally Sensitive Species the White-Tailed Sabrewing Hummingbird. Learn more about this site and the stakeholders who contribute to the management of this key protected area.

Excellent production on the immense value of the Main Ridge Forest to Tobago. It will help everyone on the island to realise how blessed they are to have this forest and how important it is to protect it for their survival.

Thank you to ALL who have contributed in ANY way to preserve the Main Ridge Forest Reserve and help disseminate information to the public (like this wonderful video) so that everyone on the island can get involved in that preservation. Tobago NEEDS the forest for its survival in the context of climate change, when water supply is getting lower and lower everywhere. So THANK YOU. I applaud you!!

Great to have this. Well done all of you!
Note that in 1765 Tobago was not inhabited by any colonial power. This was the time of almost a century when Tobago was a "no man's land"

Is the preserve actually protected. I DROVE through Easterfield Road and it seems a lot of the forest was being chopped down. Close to the dam was total destruction seemed by the public sector themselves. Love the video. How can I help? @factoralliance

If the reserve is destroyed, Tobago's taps will quickly run dry 😕
