Yes as a JW myself of some 35yrs + though faded, I fully agree that the JW leadership stubbornly use a blanket approach with the " two witness" rule in deciding how to proceed in cases involving "serious sin" is indeed farcical. Why? For starters the "two witness" ( Deut 19:15) was part of the Mosaic law and JWs themselves will tell you that Christians are no longer under the Mosaic law because Jesus fulfilled that Mosaic law and instituted a higher law or principles that incorporated aspects of the Mosaic laws such as the ten commandments and the direction to love God first with your whole heart and love your neighbor as yourself. The JWs will tell you that the laws that governed the Israelites/Jews are no longer directly applicable to Christians. That being the case why the blind stubbornness when it comes to Deut 19:15 in particular? Sure, in many cases, the word of at least two witnesses to an alleged "sin" may help establish guilt or otherwise. However, some "acts of sin" MAY NOT involve the presence of "other witnesses" and child sexual abuse is CLEARLY one of those. Surely then, the JW leadership could rule that , yes we can use the "two witness" requirement in adjudicating cases where it seems applicable but in cases where it is NOT applicable, we are free to use another approach? That would be fully in the spirit of applying Christian principles to a situation such as child sexual abuse (or other similar situations such as domestic violence etc). The JWs leadership have the right to explore other avenues - ie using Christian principles- in determining the truth of matters and by their own teachings, are NOT bound by the strict rules of the Mosaic law!!!. It seems incredulous that JW leadership maintain this illogical position of needing to apply the "two witness" rule in all cases !!. The "two witness" rule is not part of the ten commandments nor does it affect Christians relationship with each other or God. It was simply one small part of many laws within the Mosaic law for the Israelites in how they should deal with issues amongst themselves. The JW leadership say they will "never change away from this bible direction" ( aka from the Mosaic law) yet they frequently do so- are required to do so- in other matters involving "sinful behaviour. Yes Christendom is in general similar... but its not Christian. Christendom teaches that God is a trinity of persons, that people have immortal souls, that there is a literal hellfire where God forever burns and tortures people, that people should pray to "saints" to intercede with God etc and so forth. All such ideas have their firm roots in paganistic philosophy which Christendom has readily embraced and adapted to itself.
