    I always start watching for the guitars, but I keep watching because of Lemmo. His playing is so diverse and melodic. I have to admit I'm kinda jealous. Still though Lemmo is a great guitarist.

    The Rick is so unique, you've done a fine job playing it. Now Michael, if you could do an expose of what the potentiometers do,,,,,seems to be many mysteries around the controls,,,,,thanks a million!

    • @davidkieltyka9
      @davidkieltyka9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The four main pots are just standard volume & tone controls. The fifth pot (“blend”) is a master volume for the neck pickup on 2-pickup Rics and for the neck & middle p’ups on 3-pickup guitars like this one. The blend knob takes the volume down from full to about halfway.
      On this guitar the pickup selector switch gives you the bridge alone in position 1, all three pickups in pos. 2 and neck & middle in pos. 3. Some folks mod this to other configurations, but this particular guitar sounds stock to me.

      The scale is not as small as some people suppose. Take a guitar of standard scale length (about 25 inches), and put a capo on the third fret, and you will have the same fret spacing as a Rickenbacker 325.

    Think every guitar player needs some kind of off brand semi hollow/ hollow body. For the sakes of variety. Gave a $600 casino I got recently a an A1 fret level, crown, and polish job, rolled the edges, bone nut, intonation and set up. Wow, that guitar is hitting way above it's weight class. Feels like a custom shop guitar now. See the potential in a lot of these off brand guitars. They can be serious instruments if you have the means to fix em up.

    Like everybody who wanted to become an electric guitar player after watching footage of the beatles, I wanted this model. What do you do not know is that I wasn't going to get to play one until after I had learned how to play guitar on standard scale instruments. When I finally did pick up a 325, I was a little disappointed at the short scale. Even though I imagine that my hands are smaller than John's hands, they were still ill suited to playing this model.
    What does Jen squeal at the end? Tammy Wynette?

    • @starchores

      Rickenbacker’s dealer relations is so poor that most stores don’t cary them, and as a brand they’re so snooty that you as a consumer are not even allowed to know what the msrp is. It seems like they don’t even want us to buy the guitars, so why should we pronounce it correctly?

    • @IIllIIllIl
      @IIllIIllIl ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@starchores you could spend 5 mins on the internet and find out the msrp for most models fairly easily, but my understanding is that they believe enough in their product that they trust serious customers will be willing to spend more than 5 mins of their time (and money) on a quality product, with upfront cost not being the primary concern.
      Whether it’s worth it/makes sense remains in the fretting hand of the beholder, but it’s difficult to call it a failing business model given their history 🤷‍♂️

    • @starchores
      @starchores ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IIllIIllIl Could you imagine how upset people would be if Gibson didn’t tell you the list price and you had to google it to find out? Could you imagine if you got a custom guitar from a luthier and they refused to give you a quote because the purported craftsmanship is so good that it would be tacky to talk price? It just leaves a bad taste in the customers’ mouth.
      But going back to your original point, if the guitars, the legacy, and the business model were so good, people would know how to pronounce the brand’s name.

      You don't know your Rics. There was no such thing as V or C series. Lennon's was a straight up 325, period.
      V series was created to milk the Beatles legacy. The bracing and pickups were modern spec. I know this because I own a '96 325v63.
      The C series is a supposed direct copy of Lennon's actual 325 models he owned. Those have vintage specs inside and out.
