I remembered these beautiful land yachts. It was like being in a mobile living room, cruising in a comfortable arm chair. smooth & isolated ride, more than adequate power (460cid 4v), Lincoln's upper personal luxury coupe. the crushed velour, MOONROOF, it was never duplicated again. Those were the standard by which LUXURY was MEASURED. AWESOME CAR. ☆☆☆☆☆
That last foto was taken from the brochure. B4 gramps got his new, I remembered the promotional booklets. I drove a '76 Buick 225 coupe fully equipped. $9k, my dad had '76 Caddy Eldorado full equipped even with the 500cid & fuel injection ,but, grandpa paid for his Mark V what some ppl were paying for small homes!!! It was/is AWESOME & OUTSTANDING.
When LINCOLN MARK V were a true sign of SUCCE$$. Beautiful & fully equipped. Moon-roof, aluminum painted wheels, nice white walls, & of course the 460cid 4v -V8. Thirsty, but, well worth it! $$$$$
back when there was such a thing as personal luxury. Cadillac and Lincoln should be ashamed of themselves for abandoning their heritage of fine luxury cars with chrome, wood accents and bulk for plastic hunks of mass that drive fast...smh. I'm 19 and proud owner of a 95 DeVille, I'd take a car like mine over a new one any day.
Fordsy I was working for Ford Motor Company when the Diamond Jubillee was introduced, and I believed it was the most elegant and beautiful luxury car in the post war period, and I believe it is still true today. This car is just a true modern classic! The car shown has to be the best around!
@@enerrivers4392 You are correct. With the Diamond Jubilee option, it brought the Mark up above the 20 thousand dollar mark. Making this car the first American made car to do so. Also, a fun fact. The Mark V was the very first car produced anywhere to have the miles to empty computer.
@@enerrivers4392 Oh, and how! I could not agree with you more. Like you mentioned, it's sleek, simple design, just the right amounts of chrome trim. It just works all around. The beauty is in it's simplicity, I say.. Thank you so much.
Matt Garrett has one of the finest collections of American luxury vehicles in the world. They all look showroom new, and are sure to give anyone who loves them incredible envy. =)
Hey Matt, I was having a bad day until I saw this video....My God, this is probably better than Prozac and psychoanalysis together! This is sheer automotive beauty!

This is my favorite year for the Mark V and this is my favorite Burt Bacharach song. However I think this song is more fitting for the late 1960s Lincolns. 1978 was the disco era. Perhaps Walter Murphy's Discosymphonies or lush arrangements by Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra, Quincy Jones or Maynard Ferguson would be more appropriate for this era of Lincolns.
Now, why can't Lincoln bring these awesome personal luxury coupes back. Smaller ofcourse, but, a V8, F.I. 10spd auto, I'd bet they would sell surprisingly well. SUV is not everyone's forte. Luxury cars, as SUVS are very profitable. U listening FORD🎯👑
These cars if in great shape as this is will sell for 15 grand to about 24 grand now days. I have been to car shows and seen them go into the low 20s and a little more but that's about it as people know they can only be valued at so much. When this was built they sold for around 18 to 20,000 depending on equipment and packages so getting your money back out of it and then some after just 35 plus years is doing darn well!
It's not that simple. You'd have to replace the entire suspension and the suspensions in the Mark series are very soft. WIth the amount of money with a new engine, transmission and suspension, Plan on keeping this car until the wheels fall off, or you 'll have very very deep pockets.
@@bohemialite6371 Hey. Honestly? What a nice thought. If my memory serves me correctly, your moniker does look awfully familiar. I think you checked out my Mark Vs on my you tube channel. I've added to my stable, a 78 Mark V Diamond Jubilee, 40K miles on it. Delivered just a few months ago. I'll add her to my youtube channel quite soon. That's three Mark V's I have. 79 Collectors, 78 Bill Blass, and now this. Have a great day man!
I have one now the statement is what a Titanic and gas guzzler it does not stand for Success anymore when people see it but I don't care I have one but it does attract a lot of attention though.
Lincoln can't and won't built cars like this again. I don't know what they are building now. the last real luxury road cars they built were the towncars.
You have to like this or you just don’t understand. The class and character of America still shone through. Dear God help us today.
THANK YOU FOR PICKING MUSIC THAT ACTUALLY SUITS THE CAR!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous! One of the most elegant vehicles ever produced in my opinion. Very nice!
Brought back some of the best experiences from that decade. I was 18. Thank you.
Wow that thing is gorgeous! The interior is so nice! Those seats look SOOOO comfortable i wish they still made seats like that! Not to mention cars!
Perfect choice of music. Im sure this car was used to take you to the opera in it's day.

It's all perspective. in 1978 at gas prices at about 50 cents a gallon, things didn't matter.

Hey Matt. Do you still have this Mark V?
That option, the Diamond Jubilee cost what brand new regular cars cost. $7-8k. Back then I didn't think it was worth it, but, NOW!!!!

Maybe you'd rather hear Jack Jones sing it. I remember hearing him on the radio in the 60's, one of the many hits he had at that time.
