I WAITED FOR THIS ONE !! 1) I’m not a fan of the Bunny/Alistair ship for their weird relationship…(unpopular but the Kitty/Alistair duo could’ve been something interesting~) 2) Bunny father can’t turn into a human ? 3) Speaking of designs variety, according to the books : Apple is supposed to be curvier (with dimples and all) and shorter, Briar taller than the rest of her peers, Cerise is supposed to have wider shoulders and muscular body. 4) So Kitty is a Royal…? 5) Evil!Apple is everything 6) starting to think Cedar is the only « black »girl of the crew at the moment, as a black girl I must stay woke on her neglect ~ 7) And yes, it’s my least favorite special so far.
Technically she's a royal... but it's only because that's what her mother does. If her mother decided to become a rebel, Kitty would probably also become a rebel. Generally she's very indifferent on the royal and rebel conflict.

Honestly, I think that the way Kitty and her mom's story resolves is very realistic. Dysfunctional families are really hard to fix completely (believe me, I know), so you have to take whatever small victories you can. Most media makes it seem like you have to fix everything and if you don't end up a perfect family, your doing something wrong. It's near impossible to change your parents, and kids in less than ideal situations like this should know that it's okay to not have to fix everything. Small steps are still equally valid.
I actually think it makes sense that Catty can leave Wonderland whenever she wants. Especially since the Cheshire Cat’s thing has always been phasing in and out of reality. It seems in character to me

I like Alistair Wonderland a lot, since he’s not the stereotype of a hunky guy hero, but rather a different kind of male hero, relying more on his wits than brute force. Anyone else noticed how the story goes from the beginning of the school year which is probably fall, to spring, then it stays in spring until it’s confirmed to be summer in Epic Winter?
Spring Unsprung is my favorite special in the show. Not only is it really beautiful, with the visuals and character designs, but it is also a great story. The Wonderlandians are my favorite group in the show, and this story really lets them shine. And I love how it goes into Kitty's relationship with her mother.
I never noticed the breakneck pace until now, maybe it didn’t feel that fast as someone who read the books and knew about some of the newly introduced stuff already. Plus Ginger got introduced in the first episode of season 3, they released the first couple of episodes of the season before the Spring Unsprung special which sounds like a weird decision in retrospect but made sense to familiarise the audience with Ginger a bit before she was semi-relevant here
Ever After High pours so much love into adapting the characters. It's very creative. It's really strange how romance is handled in some kids shows. Especially when the kids are teenagers and can just date. Yes we want the character design video
I feel like they kinda mischaracterized the Cheshire Cat with Kittys mom. I don't think of the Cheshire Cat as a character that causes chaos. Mischievous for sure but not malicious. Also the character design video is definitely something I'd be interested in seeing:)
I'd be down with watching a best and worst designs video! Also, I love your suggestion to redirect Brooke's role to talking with Kitty. Having Brooke just tell Maddie what to do (both in this special and the next) is a lazy resolution stemming from the writers' writing themselves in a corner.
Spring Unsprung and Way too Wonderland are my least favorite of the specials. I love the Wonderlandians, but I felt like they tried to cram too much into the specials that it ended up overshadowed the wonderlandians. Definately looking forward to your Dragon Games review in the future.

And with EAH the fits are all about fashion/their personality and fairytale, compared to RWBY who have to balance fashion and combat, which I think is an interesting difference EDIT: The Cerise SDCC 2014 doll has my fav design if u choose to look into it :]

Before Way Too Wonderland, my friends and I used to theorize that she was The Evil Queen. It makes more sense, she appears when things are going wrong, she's trapped in a mirror, etc.
At first I was confused as to why you didn’t like it, as I loved the Wonderland Special. But that was right before I mixed up Spring Unsprung with Way Too Wonderland, which I think is a better special as far as showing Wonderland goes. (Even if the outfits are a hit or Miss) I literally forgot this special existed lol
To be honest i don't like this special mainly because of how questionable choices about Wonderland are... maybe it's just Alice in Wonderland nerd talking through me but i really don't buy Ever After High's wonderland a bit and you can't really excuse everything with "it's just so weird and wacky" when some stuff clearly comes from misunderstanding of source material. That being said i wish series could continue and learn from it mistakes because they got the Madeline character very well. Also even as a kid i had a lot of questions why Bunny's father is humanoid rabbit while she's just magic human with a headband.

Top 10 best to worst sound like a great idea, I love so many of the characters designs in this show, I’d love to hear your opinion! Also that rant about Alistair and Bunny’s relationship was cathartic to hear, I hate those types of tropes in media, especially when they don’t get called out
I gotta agree. Spring unsprung, just has way too much in it. From new characters, new worlds, new relationships, new dynamics, and a new event. There is just way too much that’s tossed at you all at once. It’s like someone tossing two dozen eggs at you and trying to catch them all. Some plot points resolve fine. While others get a hastily rushed ending, and others just end with little resolution at all. There are some interesting plot points. But it’s just too rushed and crammed in to properly give the time it deserves. And thank you! I also hate the tired old trope of “I really like this person, and get so jealous if someone else gets too friendly with them. But it’s not like we’re in a relationship or anything.” Ether pull the trigger, and admit there is a relationship between you two, or let them see other people. Unfortunately the relationship between cat, and her mother is another tired trope too. The “parent that rides and undermines there kid all the time. But I’d actually proud of them when they stand up to them.” It’s just a half hazard quick end to a complicated issue that they don’t actually want to dig too deep in. But will use it anyway for drama. I’d also wouldn’t mind a top ten ever after high fashion line up. Good video.
What I truly liked about this event was that, even under the Swap spell, Hunter and Ashlynn still love one another, even if it’s in a...more gross way Considering how the spell works and what’s done to its victims, one would’ve thought that the spell would make Hunter and Ashlynn hate one another, but it didn’t It’s one of the few things I genuinely enjoyed from this special

When this came out, I couldn't actually watch it first. I didn't have a netflix account at the time(nor the money for it). When I finally got a chance to watch it, I was so disappointed. It just didn't meet my expectations. It felt so weird and disjointed to me. I really wished it was better. I really liked the concepts it brought forth and really wish they were better. Also, I always felt that Ginger got SOOO robbed, she's such a fu but heavily underutilized character.
So with that whole Kitty/Catty dynamic, a while back I actually tried to make a better conclusion just to pass the time, but I didn’t wanna write too much, so it might not be great, but I think it’s a little better. I’ll put it in the replies in case you wanna see it.

I remember when Spring Unsprung first came out. My younger sister and I woke up super early that day (I think it was a Saturday) so we could watch the new special. It was such an exciting feeling, it being the first one on Netflix. I remember this one being my favorite, and I think it still it honestly (Dragon Games is a close second though). It might just be the nostalgia talking, but Spring Unsprung will always hold a special place in my heart, even if it isn’t as perfect as I once thought it was.

Evil Apple is SUCH a queen! She was why Spring Unsprung was my favorite special as a kid (and now) Flipping characters on their heads is just an interesting concept to me and she was played SO well, also her roasting charming for being a coward was awesome

I wish too, but unfortunately Ever After probably won’t be coming back due to Disney. There was a huge legal battle over it because the Mattel is also in charge of Disney’s dolls. Mattel was doing so well with Ever After and Monster High dolls that they weren’t focusing much attention on Disney’s dolls, so Disney crippled Ever After. Obviously I’m loosely going over what happened,, I can’t give a perfect description off the top of my head, but there are tons of videos going over what happened and what caused the death of Ever After. I highly recommend!!
As someone who has never seen any of this show I am still always excited to hear your reviews of it. A top 10 best and worst designs sounds like it would be fun XD Shame that this special probably could have used an extra 30 minutes, from the sounds of it, to just flesh out the pacing a little, but your telling of it makes it very clear and concise when it comes to the story beats, so well done there. I will add to the pile of "Yes for top 10 best and worst designs" Honestly the Ever After High design crew is really creative with their interpretations, but I agree that while it's diverse, it's diverse in one direction (i.e. dresses and hair). I'd like it if it was diverse in... most if not all directions (body types, skin color, shoes, types of skirts/bottoms. I love skirts, but I'm like... I'm sure some wear pants. And some do! But they could delve into more pant types like Prince-looking pants with ruffles and stuff).
I might as well write my own review cause I wanna talk about a few things in this special. Let’s start with the pros! 1) A thing I disagree with are the outfits, I understand why people don’t like them but I honestly find them really clever. I love the idea that the dresses are mostly black and white to represent winter and then there are these big, bold, dramatic, colorful flower pieces to show that spring had sprung. I think it was a creative way to tie the dresses to the special and I really love that. 2) I really like Kitty’s relationship with her mom! It gives her so much reason to act the way she does, she looks up to her and wants to impress her. I used to not really like her character before this special, she was kinda annoying and a troublemaker, kinda acting as a semi protagonist. But after this special I really understood her, she became more sympathetic and in later specials became so much nicer. 3) EVIL! APPLE! Gods, I absolutely loved Apple in this special just because of how much of a jerk she was! She had so many iconic moments and lines during this and the way her and Daring interacted never fails to make me laugh. Nothing more to say, just- Evil Apple. Time for the cons! 1) I normally really love world building but I feel this special tried to do too much of that. I get that it was mostly to set up for the next special but I feel like most of the random unnecessary stuff could have just been moved over to that next said special. Such as most of the things from Wonderland. 2) This is just a personal annoyance, but why did the evil spell come off so- weirdly? Like Bunny and Al were just talking and then it just shifted to “Damn- we gotta do something about this evil magic before it destroys Wonderland.” Like- mate back up, you’ve lost me! I feel it would have been better if this was hinted at in Thronecoming, that way we would have at least had a grasp at it and understand why Al is so worried. 3) Again, maybe just a personal annoyance but I always wondered how Darling got in and out of Wonderland. We know that the Well Of Wonder is the only way in and out of Wonderland, we also know it’s never in one place, so how the hell did Darling find it? Did she steal Lizzy’s book? Also, the well was blocked off, so how did she and Ginger get back to Ever After when it was closed? Is there another way out? It’s just something that always confused me. That’s my review on the matter, at least all the things that weren’t already mentioned. I really liked this review it was very well made and had pros and cons and even ways that it could be made better! Really enjoyed it! ^^
II think it's weird the special isn't free, it was originally free on the Ever After High website back when it was still around, that's how I watched it when I was younger. Twisted Wonderland wasn't free though, but many years later I found out Twisted Wonderland was included on the DVD Monster High Great Scarier Reef.
I kinda like the outfits considering Lizzie made them so it makes sense it looks weird(could have been designed better)but if the outfits were toned down it wouldn't work as an Ever After High type of style. But yeah...this special has so much shortcomings...
You should read the shannon hale ever after high book series. In the 3rd book Cedar is a main character and it went more in depth on how she feels about being a puppet and her insecurities it was really interesting

This is probs a random thing to nitpick but I was always confused why the Cheshire Cat was depicted as female instead of male whereas every other original fairytale character has their original genders. (I at first thought it was just Kittys mom and her father the actual Cheshire Cat would show up soon but apparently her mother is supposed to be the Cheshire Cat from the story) It’s fine to have your own iterations of characters but this is just a weird thing I wanted to point out
I think that it's supposed to imply that she isn't the first Cheshire Cat. The whole thing with EAH is that everyone is supposed to follow their ancestor's path, that's the way it's always been done. This means that Apple's mom followed her mom's story, Raven's mom followed her mother's destiny, etc. The EAH students aren't the first generation to repeat their stories, and so many of them are the opposite gender than their parents. Melody Piper, Maddie Hatter, Alistair Wonderland, Bunny Blanc, etc. The first Cheshire Cat was a man, but Kitty's mom isn't the first Cheshire Cat, only the current Cheshire Cat.
Amazing review!! I have been waiting for this so long. This special is awesome and it's my third favourite special. I love the outfits and Cedar's is the best outfit no lies . Also I enjoyed seeing new characters like Alistar , Bunny , Ginger and the White Knight . I wish this movie was one hour long everything was so rushed . Also I think in the next special Briar will tell her secret to everybody . Can't wait for next review I am so excited for Dragon Games it's my favourite special pls make it as soon as possible . Ever after High still stays in my heart , I wish the series was continued longer .

Top 10 Best and Worst Character Desings, we wanna see it!
At first I was confused as to why you didn’t like it, as I loved the Wonderland Special.
But that was right before I mixed up Spring Unsprung with Way Too Wonderland, which I think is a better special as far as showing Wonderland goes. (Even if the outfits are a hit or Miss)
I literally forgot this special existed lol
omg I would love to see a royal villain get the topsy Turvy curse and they end up helping the heroes that would be great
To be honest i don't like this special mainly because of how questionable choices about Wonderland are... maybe it's just Alice in Wonderland nerd talking through me but i really don't buy Ever After High's wonderland a bit and you can't really excuse everything with "it's just so weird and wacky" when some stuff clearly comes from misunderstanding of source material. That being said i wish series could continue and learn from it mistakes because they got the Madeline character very well.
Also even as a kid i had a lot of questions why Bunny's father is humanoid rabbit while she's just magic human with a headband.

Top 10 best to worst sound like a great idea, I love so many of the characters designs in this show, I’d love to hear your opinion! Also that rant about Alistair and Bunny’s relationship was cathartic to hear, I hate those types of tropes in media, especially when they don’t get called out

I gotta agree. Spring unsprung, just has way too much in it. From new characters, new worlds, new relationships, new dynamics, and a new event. There is just way too much that’s tossed at you all at once. It’s like someone tossing two dozen eggs at you and trying to catch them all. Some plot points resolve fine. While others get a hastily rushed ending, and others just end with little resolution at all. There are some interesting plot points. But it’s just too rushed and crammed in to properly give the time it deserves.
And thank you! I also hate the tired old trope of “I really like this person, and get so jealous if someone else gets too friendly with them. But it’s not like we’re in a relationship or anything.” Ether pull the trigger, and admit there is a relationship between you two, or let them see other people.
Unfortunately the relationship between cat, and her mother is another tired trope too. The “parent that rides and undermines there kid all the time. But I’d actually proud of them when they stand up to them.” It’s just a half hazard quick end to a complicated issue that they don’t actually want to dig too deep in. But will use it anyway for drama.
I’d also wouldn’t mind a top ten ever after high fashion line up.

What I truly liked about this event was that, even under the Swap spell, Hunter and Ashlynn still love one another, even if it’s in a...more gross way
Considering how the spell works and what’s done to its victims, one would’ve thought that the spell would make Hunter and Ashlynn hate one another, but it didn’t

I think the reason why Catty can leave Wonderland, is because she can teleport, but she's too rogue to help anyone (and she has control of the well)

When this came out, I couldn't actually watch it first. I didn't have a netflix account at the time(nor the money for it). When I finally got a chance to watch it, I was so disappointed. It just didn't meet my expectations. It felt so weird and disjointed to me. I really wished it was better. I really liked the concepts it brought forth and really wish they were better. Also, I always felt that Ginger got SOOO robbed, she's such a fu but heavily underutilized character.
So with that whole Kitty/Catty dynamic, a while back I actually tried to make a better conclusion just to pass the time, but I didn’t wanna write too much, so it might not be great, but I think it’s a little better. I’ll put it in the replies in case you wanna see it.

I deeply suspect so. It would explain the sudden last minute inclusion of Blondie and Cupid in the Thronecoming episode when they suddenly get shoehorned into the plot.
I recently remembered that Ever After High exists and I started to see a lot about it, so your videos about EAH started to come to me, and I loved your videos, I love this cartoon so much, but wow, I never noticed how many mistakes they made, but I can't stop liking, it was part of my childhood, i'll love to follow your next videos about EAH, but i'm also scared, way too wonderland is my favorite arc, i'm excited to see what you're going to talk about, I would also like to see the top 10 best looks video
I remember when Spring Unsprung first came out. My younger sister and I woke up super early that day (I think it was a Saturday) so we could watch the new special. It was such an exciting feeling, it being the first one on Netflix. I remember this one being my favorite, and I think it still it honestly (Dragon Games is a close second though). It might just be the nostalgia talking, but Spring Unsprung will always hold a special place in my heart, even if it isn’t as perfect as I once thought it was.
when I saw this I was so excited! I still have to rewatch it but after I have I will be coming back and watching this, I will already give it a like.

I remember when I was a kid I loved Briar’s outfit so much that I got the doll and I still have it. Its one of my favorite outfits in the series, I don’t know why but I just love it so much!!

Evil Apple is SUCH a queen! She was why Spring Unsprung was my favorite special as a kid (and now) Flipping characters on their heads is just an interesting concept to me and she was played SO well, also her roasting charming for being a coward was awesome
Wouldn't it be great if Critter's videos on this series inspired someone to pick it back up again? Not incredibly likely, but hey, the internet has a way of reviving interest in overlooked media. Case in point, these videos.

I wish too, but unfortunately Ever After probably won’t be coming back due to Disney.
There was a huge legal battle over it because the Mattel is also in charge of Disney’s dolls. Mattel was doing so well with Ever After and Monster High dolls that they weren’t focusing much attention on Disney’s dolls, so Disney crippled Ever After.
Obviously I’m loosely going over what happened,, I can’t give a perfect description off the top of my head, but there are tons of videos going over what happened and what caused the death of Ever After. I highly recommend!!

As someone who has never seen any of this show I am still always excited to hear your reviews of it. A top 10 best and worst designs sounds like it would be fun XD Shame that this special probably could have used an extra 30 minutes, from the sounds of it, to just flesh out the pacing a little, but your telling of it makes it very clear and concise when it comes to the story beats, so well done there. Can't wait for the next one! ^.^
I will add to the pile of "Yes for top 10 best and worst designs" Honestly the Ever After High design crew is really creative with their interpretations, but I agree that while it's diverse, it's diverse in one direction (i.e. dresses and hair). I'd like it if it was diverse in... most if not all directions (body types, skin color, shoes, types of skirts/bottoms. I love skirts, but I'm like... I'm sure some wear pants. And some do! But they could delve into more pant types like Prince-looking pants with ruffles and stuff).
I might as well write my own review cause I wanna talk about a few things in this special.
Let’s start with the pros!
1) A thing I disagree with are the outfits, I understand why people don’t like them but I honestly find them really clever. I love the idea that the dresses are mostly black and white to represent winter and then there are these big, bold, dramatic, colorful flower pieces to show that spring had sprung. I think it was a creative way to tie the dresses to the special and I really love that.
2) I really like Kitty’s relationship with her mom! It gives her so much reason to act the way she does, she looks up to her and wants to impress her. I used to not really like her character before this special, she was kinda annoying and a troublemaker, kinda acting as a semi protagonist. But after this special I really understood her, she became more sympathetic and in later specials became so much nicer.
3) EVIL! APPLE! Gods, I absolutely loved Apple in this special just because of how much of a jerk she was! She had so many iconic moments and lines during this and the way her and Daring interacted never fails to make me laugh. Nothing more to say, just- Evil Apple.
Time for the cons!
1) I normally really love world building but I feel this special tried to do too much of that. I get that it was mostly to set up for the next special but I feel like most of the random unnecessary stuff could have just been moved over to that next said special. Such as most of the things from Wonderland.
2) This is just a personal annoyance, but why did the evil spell come off so- weirdly? Like Bunny and Al were just talking and then it just shifted to “Damn- we gotta do something about this evil magic before it destroys Wonderland.” Like- mate back up, you’ve lost me! I feel it would have been better if this was hinted at in Thronecoming, that way we would have at least had a grasp at it and understand why Al is so worried.
3) Again, maybe just a personal annoyance but I always wondered how Darling got in and out of Wonderland. We know that the Well Of Wonder is the only way in and out of Wonderland, we also know it’s never in one place, so how the hell did Darling find it? Did she steal Lizzy’s book? Also, the well was blocked off, so how did she and Ginger get back to Ever After when it was closed? Is there another way out? It’s just something that always confused me.
That’s my review on the matter, at least all the things that weren’t already mentioned. I really liked this review it was very well made and had pros and cons and even ways that it could be made better! Really enjoyed it! ^^
II think it's weird the special isn't free, it was originally free on the Ever After High website back when it was still around, that's how I watched it when I was younger. Twisted Wonderland wasn't free though, but many years later I found out Twisted Wonderland was included on the DVD Monster High Great Scarier Reef.

I kinda like the outfits considering Lizzie made them so it makes sense it looks weird(could have been designed better)but if the outfits were toned down it wouldn't work as an Ever After High type of style.

You should read the shannon hale ever after high book series. In the 3rd book Cedar is a main character and it went more in depth on how she feels about being a puppet and her insecurities it was really interesting

As much as I hate the wonderland outfits, there transformation music is my fave song in the whole entire series
This is probs a random thing to nitpick but I was always confused why the Cheshire Cat was depicted as female instead of male whereas every other original fairytale character has their original genders. (I at first thought it was just Kittys mom and her father the actual Cheshire Cat would show up soon but apparently her mother is supposed to be the Cheshire Cat from the story)
It’s fine to have your own iterations of characters but this is just a weird thing I wanted to point out
I think that it's supposed to imply that she isn't the first Cheshire Cat. The whole thing with EAH is that everyone is supposed to follow their ancestor's path, that's the way it's always been done. This means that Apple's mom followed her mom's story, Raven's mom followed her mother's destiny, etc. The EAH students aren't the first generation to repeat their stories, and so many of them are the opposite gender than their parents. Melody Piper, Maddie Hatter, Alistair Wonderland, Bunny Blanc, etc. The first Cheshire Cat was a man, but Kitty's mom isn't the first Cheshire Cat, only the current Cheshire Cat.
Amazing review!! I have been waiting for this so long. This special is awesome and it's my third favourite special. I love the outfits and Cedar's is the best outfit no lies . Also I enjoyed seeing new characters like Alistar , Bunny , Ginger and the White Knight . I wish this movie was one hour long everything was so rushed . Also I think in the next special Briar will tell her secret to everybody . Can't wait for next review I am so excited for Dragon Games it's my favourite special pls make it as soon as possible . Ever after High still stays in my heart , I wish the series was continued longer .
