I love these videos of yours. I'm not at a level to be able to understand most of the ideas carlsen employs but you really help bridge that gap significantly and my gains in elo thank you for it! The rapid format of the analysis i also find helps build up a sort of imtuition as oposed to the slower format analyses of yours that build up understanding. Would love to see more of these.

About to try another watch and ill probably see you here tomorrow as well. Please keep up the great work Jerry. Big fan of the longer vids
Oh Magnus... The fact that he played that nonsense in the opening against Hikaru and managed to recover and to avoid a defeat shows he's something else!
Watching your live commentary videos feels like coming home after a hard day of work. Thank you so much for your time, energy and mood. Oh, and: Merry Christmas, Jerry.
I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately and this will be perfect for tonight. I mean this only in the nicest way possible. I love falling asleep to tourneys on this channel.
Hey jerry. Been your fan for over 8 years. 1st game 1st move Bh3 was not a mouse slip. Magnuss does that often. Trolls opponents and also it guards g4 which is usually guarfed by h3 pawn. And as you can tell he prepared the line so after light square bishop trade there is misplaced blacks queen creating complications with some juicy forks.
Thanks Jerry! So in taking that final draw so quickly with Hikaru not yet finished and holding the Buchholz tie-break edge, didn't Magnus risk losing 1st if Hikaru won his last game? If so, why on earth would he bail on that last game so fast?
Jerry sweetly photoshopping Magnus' profile pic so that it actually has pupils and isn't so immediately disturbing :) I love you more than most of my blood relatives, Jerry. You and Norm MacDonald
At 49:48 after Magnus played Kh7, Hikaru had Qa3 with the threat of capturing the bishop. Bd2 is the only square for the bishop but then white has Qd3+ and wins the bishop. Hikaru mentioned it on his stream immediately after he played Qd5.
Nihal Sarin should know by now that Carlsen plays unusual opening moves. That premove of ...e5?? was simply way too much confidence in his own guess work.
It didn't even look like such an unusual move to play. It gained a tempo on the knight and gained space. Maybe it wasn't one of the main lines, but I think that will be the last time he premoves like that again 😅
When I understand it correctly, when the tournament clock is ticking down, the results of the ongoing games do not count, so this was a way to secure at least half a point for both instead of getting nothing.
I wonder if any of Carlsen’s crazy blitz openings standup enough under sober analysis to offer entirely new Classical openings. Damn that boy is good though! And did I hear you mention somewhere in there that he’s a masterful endgame player as well, Jerry? Better still!
There was no way to win the game before the tournament was over, so playing the game out only impacts his rating, which apparently he doesn't care about.
Is it just me who gets slightly annoyed by this superfluous bright white notation box? Anyone else? The way I deal with this is to (1) hang a piece of cloth over it or (2) let the video quality bar opened over it. That soothes me. 😌
For most of the video it's actually a Standings box. (He had it set to notation in the beginning, but then he changed it after the first game and never changed it back.) Personally I prefer a notation box: I like to be able to refer to the game score to remind myself how the position arose. The Standings, to me, are of less interest during the game itself.
@@SaintD382 Thank you both for the replies, thanks for the likes as well. I covered the bar so fast that I didn’t notice the change he made until I came back the next day for watching more. Anyway, it’s a recurring annoyance, it’s not just this video. But I will agree with you that some viewers might like the “whatever” bar for their own reasons, different watching experiences, of course. As long as they are relevant, like the standings one, I wouldn’t rip them off, just turn them dark. You could even have multiple bars, I wouldn’t mind it. And I could improve my argument actually, forget the selfish silly one from previously. Think about the energy being wasted to turn those pixels on in 22000 devices for an entire hour, 22000 notebook-hours of bright white pixels for nothing. Doesn’t it sounds wasteful? I’m pretty sure if someone bothered to do the math it would amount to some significant figure. I mean, in a world thirsty for energy, it could contribute a bit. I suspect Jerry could actually set the equivalent of his whole household carbon-footprint off by just tuning his streams settings properly, optimally, it’s a privileged position, he would be saving through other peoples bills world-wide, which is arguably the best way to save because (1) it requires no lifestyle changes at all, (2) it has an immediate effect everywhere, (3) he doesn’t have to ask for anyone’s permission. If he didn't do so and instead say "if he played queen to d4, than pawn to e5 attacks the queen, she has to draw back to d1 or move to a4" most people wouldn't follow, probably Jerry would also have to slow down with his commentary significantly.

Thank you, Jerry. When you call Magnus's games on Titled Tuesday that's one of my favorites.
That endgame in the second to last game was magical
Wasn't that great? Carlsen showed his superior endgame skill with all the right moves, turning an equal position into a victory.

That draw agreement put Magnus in first place; he had been tied with Hikaru for first.
