I did not believe in acupuncture but read my story and maybe you will. I was in the army on a drill when a truck drove very close by me and a strap from my backpack got caught in one of those hinges on the sides. I got pulled so hard it popped my shoulder and tore muscles in my shoulder, neck and upper back. It hurt so much I really have no account of what happened afterwards and how I got to the hospital. After spending roughly 12 weeks of doing nothing but some minor exercises I was left with a stone hard shoulder muscle on the back of my shoulder that felt like it was cramping all day long. I was on morphine to relieve my pain, couldn't sleep and couldn't get back in the army. About 7 months in I resigned because I couldn't participate in anything and I was frustrated and depressed. One day I met a doctor who asked if I wanted to try acupuncture and I said why not since nothing else worked I might as well try some hocus pocus. He put a needle in the cramped out muscle and within a few seconds it just relaxed. A tiny little needle that felt like it was pulsating down into my muscle cured me in a few seconds. How about that? That was 14 years ago and to this day I have had no problems with it whatsoever

I know it sounds crazy, but I've had acupuncture three times to assist with pain from a reoccurring lower back injury and it really does help. It knocks probably 70% of the pain off allowing me to at least function normally. Definitely worth a shot, and better than opiods...

Well this is great ! It can be helpful, depends what for. I am a purist and was skeptical about acupuncture, but I found a school that ran a student clinic and I tried it, it was at a nominal fee. I had some shoulder problems. I could feel energy move but after a few sessions it wasn’t healed and I went back to my original approach of proper diet, exercise, stretching, meditation, some massage work, oh and one important thing..BATHS!! We spent nine months in water/fluid developing and its only natural we can be healed in water. Research it first along with other alternative therapies but I certainly wouldn’t go out and spend a heap of money on it just yet.

I, as a person who never used western medicine, like antibiotics, and only got vaccines when i was a baby, can tell you acupuncture works, in fact, all of traditional Chinese medicine works. I have used it for 14 years and it was always effective. What is acupuncture? Acupuncture involves putting needles that are millimetres thin into certain points into the body. There are points dedicated to curing many sicknesses, for eyesight improvement, and even for slimming, and beauty. and sports injuries. Now, there is a myth that Acupuncture is as painful as vaccines, well it is not, because the needle is nowhere as thick as a vaccination needle, but you will always fill a little bit of pain. Of course, acupuncture cannot replace surgery, as sometimes, surgery is a must. But acupuncture does not work for everyone, your Traditional Chinese doctor should ask you about your diet, lifestyle, etc, if acupuncture does not work for you, there are others, like Traditional chinese medicine, massage. I would strongly recommend Traditional Chinese Medicine to any person, as it is effective, regardless of what the western health committee tells you.

I experience mild pain during treatment, now around both thumbs becoming trigger fingers suddenly, but the next day I'm noticing slightly less and less inflammation and need for icing. After a frozen shoulder and tendonitis issue a few years ago when I used BEMER, acupuncture and physical therapy over time, I believe in not using only one but the concert of options. I healed from that months before the western specialist said I should expect and did not need surgery as my western specialist was pushing for. Please explore BEMER with acupuncture and also physical therapy :) and BE PATIENT! If it hurts, rest. Not the time to do exercises, until the inflammation recedes.

Acupuncture is a complete medical protocol focused on correcting imbalances of energy in the body, which flows in different channels/pathways in the energetic body and called meridians. From its inception in China more than 2,500 years ago, some say perhaps 3500 years, acupuncture has been used traditionally to prevent, diagnose and treat disease, as well as to improve general health.
The traditional explanation for acupuncture’s effectiveness is that it modifies and balances (correct imbalances) the flow of energy (known as qi or ki or chi) throughout the body, but there is no scientific consensus that this is actually its mechanism or only mechanism of action. One such research paper: published in the May 30, 2010 online edition of Nature Neuroscience demonstrated that the effects of acupuncture needling include influencing the activity of adenosine, an amino acid which becomes active in the skin after an injury to ease the pain. This may explain in part why pain relief is often experienced as one of the benefits of acupuncture. In fact, much research in the West has focused on this pain-relieving effect, rather than acupuncture’s traditional role of balancing energy to address a wide range of disorders and the more subtle mechanisms that may be responsible for its overall benefits to health. Often during treatment other old symptoms which have been overlooked by the patient as bearable discomfort and not so urgent in nature hence not even told to the acupuncturist; these disappear and are later informed in passing by the relieved patient, once the energies are balanced.
Acupuncture was popularized in the States, in recent times, during the early 70’s after President Nixon opened up relations with China. At the time, a New York Times reporter, James Reston, had an appendectomy in a Chinese hospital using acupuncture as a means to decrease his post-surgical pain.

Once a gain, thank you a lot for your sharing.

Yes, in my personal experience acupuncture has worked. I had fallen during a snowboarding trip and bruised my sacral area. Whenever I tried to straighten my back there would be so much pain that I had to sit hunched down in class. My teacher used acupuncture and the pain was immediately relieved. I had full mobility and range of motion. The pain and stiffness never came back after that treatment.
As a disclaimer, I have also heard and observed other cases where acupuncture worked, but, at the same time, have heard various medical professionals’ personal cases where acupuncture did not work.

I've had Sciatica in my right leg for 12 years as a result of a back injury. Some days I could hardly put any weight on my leg, after 1 TREATMENT the pain has virtually gone in fact the pain isn't there at the moment. I have 4 more treatments to come but I'm positive that this treatment does work and is not some hocus pocus, it is definitely a Scientific based treatment. Two of my friends advised me to have it as it also worked for them.

Back pain is a common issue that many people suffer from. For some, the pain is manageable and only causes minor discomfort. However, for others, the pain can be debilitating and make it difficult to perform everyday tasks. Sciatica is a type of back pain that can be caused by a variety of things, including a back injury. Sciatica can be extremely painful, making it difficult to walk or stand for long periods of time.
Acupuncture has long been used as a treatment for various types of pain, including back pain. However, acupuncture can be expensive and time-consuming. A new device called an acupuncture pen offers a more convenient and affordable option for those suffering from back pain. The acupuncture pen is a handheld device that uses pressure to stimulate specific points on the body. The device can be used at home by anyone and only takes a few minutes to use. YOU CAN TRY IT NOW.

From the book … 40 YEARS OF COUNTRY: LIFE OF A RURAL DOCTOR IN NORTHERN SASKATCHEWAN … author … Dr Mervin L Johnson
On the 17th we went to Hanoi where I spent a day at the Bien Hue Hospital. This was built by the French at the turn-of-the-century. It was huge, covering a square block. It was in this hospital that I saw acupuncture being used for lung resection. The patient was awake, but likely somewhat sedated. The remarkable thing was the patient was talking and answering the anaesthetist, even though the surgeon had just opened her chest, and handling her lung! When the patient started wincing with some discomfort, the anaesthetist would turn the acupuncture needles and patient would settle down. We watched this for thirty minutes in unbelief.

I went to two acu sessions with the same gal. Wow, did she cause major pain, I'll never do acu again! She was sticking needles in me that struck nerves that would send pain shooting down a leg or arm. Then she used this almost cheese grater type device to very firmly scrape my muscles until they were black and blue. Then she used these suction cups that caused some pain, but that wasn't quite as bad as the former two things.

      Well, this is great!
Acupuncture is to promote and restore the balance of energy, which flows throughout the body, the benefits of acupuncture can extend to a wide variety of conditions, from emotional disorders (anxiety, depression, abnormal anger ) to digestive complaints (nausea, vomiting, irritable bowel syndrome). It can be beneficial for pain syndromes due to an injury or associated with chronic degenerative diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. It can also be helpful in treating neurological problems like migraines or Parkinson’s disease, or as a rehabilitation strategy for individuals who suffered a stroke. Respiratory conditions, including sinusitis and asthma have been relieved with acupuncture, as have many gynecologic disorders and infertility. Acupuncture has also proved beneficial for reducing fatigue and addictions, and for promoting overall well-being.
Studies in China - TCM & Acupuncture, have extensively proven many many cases of radical cures, from several hundreds of diseases and disorders. Studies in the U.S. indicate that acupuncture can help relieve chronic low back pain, dental pain, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia and symptoms of osteoarthritis. It has been shown to assist in the treatment of emotional pain syndromes such as post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as controlling chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. It has also demonstrated clinical success in achieving pregnancy when used in conjunction with in-vitro fertilization

To say that "qi" doesn't exist is like saying that air doesn't exist.
气 = qi (pinyin) = gas or energy (depending on context)
空气 = kong qi (pinyin) = empty qi (literal translation) = air (actual meaning)
氧气 = yang qi (pinyin) = oxygen
吸气 = xi qi (pinyin) = suck in qi (literal translation) = inhale
气球 = qi qiu (pinyin) = qi ball (literal translation) = ballon
蒸气 = zheng qi (pinyin) = steam
生气 = sheng qi (pinyin) = raise qi (literal translation) = angry
争气 = zheng qi (pinyin) = strive for qi (literal translation) = contend

Hi, it's not really pseudoscience but you're right, it's not explained by science. You have to remember, acupuncture was developed in Chinese civilization for the past 2,000 years. It has been around as long or longer than Western medicine has been around and developed in isolation from the way we thought of what medicine and science was. Our science is materially based so it's easy for us to prove things indefinitely, like through the use of x-rays, charts, blood tests, etc. By contrast, Chinese medicine thinks in terms of function. You can't blame Chinese medicine for not having the same exact development as what happened in the west. To think that it should be the same as western medicine is not considering historical differences and the fact that medicine is a product of history, not a recent phenomenon.

    • @jsrodman

@@victoriamydlarz7394 I don't blame accupuncture for its history. I blame the modern practitioners of accupuncture for making claims that are demonstratably false. The claims of the system affecting qi are ridiculous since qi doesn't exist. The claims that it can treat many illnesses are dangerous because study after study has found it to be unable to be effective. Even for pain treatment, the benefits over placebos are uncertain.
