There are a few things I'd like to unpack here from listening to the video as well as some missing information not presented in the video. (Beware this may be a bit lengthy but feel free to enjoy the read) 1.) Great job @Sportskeeda Wrestling, most vids I see on this subject are completely biased towards whomever and this one was not. 2.) The press conference CM Punk took part in after his championship victory was actually after the backstage negative interaction with the "Young Bucks" this is why CM Punk was so angry after a solid match rather than happy and attempting to push the product/brand forward. 3.) "Young Bucks" at the time were in fact Executive Vice Presidents and were so when Cody Rhodes was still on the roster, allegedly their roles were reduced after the 1st suspension but there is no proof, this is just hearsay. 4.) The initial drama being about Colt Cabana is really a tired excuse presented by the "Young Bucks" as well as their supporters, I say this because the incident took place back in 2016, the letter CM Punk sent Colt Cabana was made public by both parties and here is the most telling paragraph verbatim. "To date I have spent $513,736 dollars on this Amann lawsuit. My outstanding current bill is at least 300k. Half of all this is yours. Divide the $513,736 by 2 and that is what you owe me and what I expect you to pay me. Starting now I will no longer be paying your bills. You are on your own. Whatever my bill is currently, will be cut in half, and half will be yours. If you choose to make this ugly, that's fine too. I hope you won't, but I gave up on you doing what is right a long time ago." Colt began looking for a new firm to represent him. Shortly later, Punk’s lawyers sent Colt the following, “Despite your unwillingness to contribute to your legal fees, I am still prepared to represent you, and Phil is prepared to have me represent you and cover your legal fees going forward, as long as there is no conflict between you and Phil that prevents me from fairly and ethically representing you. “ What CM Punk meant by "Do the right thing" was associated with these 2 factors: A.) Colt Cabana behind the scenes had been trying to inch his way back to WWE, he'd been seen at WWE events, seen eating with friends apart of the active roster despite supposedly being Punk's best friend and agreeing with him about WWE, the negativity they experienced while there etc and with a lawsuit on the table that his friend was footing the bill for. B.) the fees for said lawsuit were getting extraordinarily high. The podcast CM Punk did with Colt was his highest rated podcast ever and drew over 1.5 million listeners at the time, Colt was fully sponsored via the host site, ad revenue etc so to hold CM Punk to the full fees as a best friend didn't seem right, CM Punk did still pay half and attempted to work out with him that Colt covers the other half himself. To better explain CM Punk was taking care of his own legal fees, as well as half of Colt Cabana's, Colt wanted him to pay his in full. (Scroll below this comment to continue)
Here is where I apply my personal take on the situation. The "Young Bucks" were looking for a reason to discredit Punk when it was confirmed he would not only be walking into the company, but he'd also be catapulted and written into the title chase here is where the "Young Bucks" began playing a bit of chess. "Hangman Page" became a steppingstone in Punk's path towards the title and the "Young Bucks" did not like the decision being handed down for him to be the guy to dethrone "Hangman" who is their real-life friend, they used the old Colt Cabana situation to put the battery in his Page's back which is why he went into business for himself and cut that promo on Punk. A factor fans are not paying close attention to is: The rumor that CM Punk lobbied to get Colt moved to a different show or removed in general, would have to come across the "Young Bucks" desk at some point since they are/were the Executive Vice Presidents at the time of his moving then release, I am not saying they had to approve it, sign off on it but for them to play the Wrestling media and its fans as if Punk just came in with all this power, spoke a few words and got a guy subsequently fired and they knew absolutely nothing about it, something just doesn't add up in relation to that story. Circling back a bit, so Page is written in to have to do the 1-2-3, believe it or not this is VERY common in the wrestling business where the buildup between the two wrestlers has some backstage history whether conjured up or fictional, and they hash it out over the mic during promos we've seen this for years, Randy Orton vs Cena, Edge vs Matt Hardy, The Rock vs Cena the list goes on but we all could see how taken back Punk was during the promo, he also didn't feed into it, he tried to give Page an out 3 times during that promo and he still continued to push that button. Moving forward, "Young Bucks" gained leverage because he gets injured (as mentioned during the video) what irks me about them attacking him for winning the title then copping an injury, they made it about a familiar issue if wrestling fans remember, in TNA the younger guys (Joe, Styles) were getting pushed down for WWE/WCW stars to come in and win titles immediately and eventually there became a locker room split, same thing here but caused by the "Young Bucks", they tried to get guys to band with them to agree but the guy to lead the charge was Mox, which is hypocritical since he made his name in WWE, he also went to bat for himself cutting promos vs CM Punk but once again Punk took it on the chin.
Punk goes into a show with MJF that was bound to be legendary, their Mic work was going nuts and the fans were eating it up week after week after week BUT during this situation MJF is having a beef with Tony Kahn and the upper brass over not only his contract but being pushed down the rung, the promise of being "featured" as a young budding star yet guys like "Jungle Boy", Dan Hausen, Darby Allin paired with Sting were each getting the TV time he felt he deserved but was also promised. Where the "Young Bucks" come into play is the run Punk and MJF were on was way too strong, it was making them look bad now if you are reading this, I know you are asking "How were they looking bad from MJF and Punk's success?" if you are a fan of AEW reading this and have attended any recent events then you know full well AEW has been lying about their attendance and sales numbers for nearly 3 years up to this date, that all went out the window once Punk signed AND returned from injury and suspension, AEW had not been "Must see tv" since the 2019 year they launched and this is fact. Fast Forward to Punk now being out of the company we all heard what happened and the "Young Buck" as I stated previously were playing chess, they won the long game, there was a casualty of war in "Jungle Boy" but in the end they got what they wanted, they antagonized Punk every chance they got, they fed people negative information and those people found a way to get at Punk, his mishandling of those situations lead to his firing.
@@TKNLordiceman826 "Despite your unwillingness to contribute to your legal fees, I am still prepared to represent you." - Punk had to do that, his case depended on Cabana corroborating stuff Punk said before and after they did the interview, as to his intentions for saying what he did and it being his honest recollection. So Punk didn't cover him selflessly. Also Cabana wanted to take the podcast down as soon as he was threatened by WWE, Punk told him to leave it up and he would cover him if there was fallout.
@@MightyMarven all you did was repeat what we already covered, CM Punk stated all of the things that you just stated the problem is Colt Cabana on the other hand made a ton of money off of the podcast episode and begin acting real shady soon afterwards, what you all are failing to acknowledge is the law firm that was used in this particular situation is the ones who decided to pull out due to Colt Cabanas actions, he became a conflict of interest when he started talking against CM Punk while being represented by the same Law Firm that was representing CM Punk .
Such a waste, punk would have had so many classic rivalries, Omega, page, both young bucks, Cabana, Dalton castle, Claudio, swerve Strickland, Adam Cole Bay bay 😳 such a waste.
Slight correction, Punk did NOT win when being sued by WWE Dr. Amann. The judge agreed that Punks comments on the Cabana podcast did meet the legal criteria of slander. The Judge stated Amann did not show any loss due to Punks comments so no financial restitution was required. Many anti WWE fans celebrated that victory as if Amann and by extension WWE lost, somehow this validated Punks grievances. In fact it was a failed meeting of legal criteria that lead to the ruling.
Yes because the bucks camp def didn't spread constant lies about punk having moved cabana to ROH, hangnail didn't go into business for himself when they could have asked punk or Tony str8 up about it
Says a lot about AEW when this is the major story. Fan bois of the mattress backyard gymnastics aren’t a big enough fan base to warrant the investment TK has in the business. If this isn’t a work, Tony is the wet shits.

Kenny did recently hint that the elite will at some point appear on collision so i think its only a matter of time. Its business never personal at the end of the day. If Shawn and Bret could do business then so could they
Cm punk is more of a great wrestler than any of the others other than John Moxley and Chris Jericho in that promotion but now that he is back at WWE he’s home
I don’t think colt cabanas ‘ friends ‘ had the right to interfere in the situation and harass Cm Punk the way they did because it’s none of their business and also it’s not professional.. imagine if two wrestlers had issues and one of them had many friends and they decided to gang up against that other wrestler.. and create such an uncomfortable situation for everyone.. I am on cm punks side here
I hope anyone who reads this comment will digest it for a moment before lashing out. This is coming from a longtime fan of Punk and a fan of the whole AEW product. So here goes: I feel that the whole underlying issue in this is Punk may have some unchecked mental health concerns. Specifically Borderline Personality Disorder, I say this because I have BPD and CPTSD but I was diagnosed late in life (I’m actually right around Phil’s age) so I really see the patterns he is presenting. I am in no way diagnosing him, that is not my job I am not a doctor. However if you watch that incredible WWE documentary Best In The World his upbringing of neglect and abuse by his biological family is exactly part of the catalyst that allows this disorder to start and in many cases is reinforced as you get older. I know this because I have had very much the same experiences. You begin to develop ways of coping, communicating and dealing with people that is only dictated by the flight or fight response. That is because you have been traumatized so much you perceive almost every situation as an attack or the possibility of being emotionally hurt. The majority of Punk’s actions fit this quite well. Again I am not saying this is true it just fits quite well. I hope this isn’t the case, and I am in no way excusing his behaviour because it is unacceptable and unhealthy for everyone including himself. Being “fired with cause” means his contract is voided and he’s basically flushed millions away due to his outburst. I feel for him I really do. When you have this disorder it’s very hard to see past anything other than your own preservation. I’m happy that he has Larry and AJ to go home to. Those supports are extremely important. I also hope he just visits a doctor to see if Borderline Personality Disorder is at the heart of this. He, like all of us, deserves a healthy and happy life. Apologies for the TLDR post, but it’s something I thought needed to be said as a possibility instead of the constant Punk’s Fault vs. Elite’s Fault battle that seems to dominate this conversation.
I don't mean to be a complete arse, but here it goes. Suggesting Punk is suffering from mental health issues does an ENORMOUS disservice to those of us struggling with PTSD, schizophrenia or any of the many ways trauma can shift a persons consciousness out from under them. He's self absorbed, like one of those kids bouncing around that famous guys chocolate factory. Nothing can be taken away from his in-ring abilities, but his *character* is an unfinished work in progress, at a level most move on from before they hit puberty. Punk isn't suffering from mental health issues, he's an unfinished bitch who gives those around him mental health issues.
Real talk; I'm approaching 40 and I have dealt with mental issues which is mostly because of a neglectful family I grew up with and I know exactly what you're talking about On a side note, I thank God that I was able to overcome those mental issues
Honestly agree with you, been a long time fan of his and I see some of his bad behavior patterns. It is really concerning and I hope he is okay and receiving help.
I think they should of Capitalized of the heat that situation brought. To let it keep festering and growing... without using it as a Story line, it's wasted money, plus that's a way they squash the beef. However I can see they aren't on the same page . 🤔 I hope all is well ✊
1 guy was willing to do business & other guys weren’t tho they are EVP’s. Listen if TK says “no Punk isn’t the reason why I moved Cabana” & u take this boss at his word than what’s the issue?? Cabana wasn’t being used at all when punk wasn’t even signed yet
So basically the gist of it is that Punk can’t stay injury free and can’t get along with anybody. He couldn’t get along with anyone at WWE and now not even in AEW. He should create his own wrestling promotion and be the only wrestler on that promotion, and be the guy doing everything there. May be that’ll work out for him 😂
@zippymufo9765 lmao "he lost after being a work wrestler for years and going into the world's premier MMA promotion in his late 30's" Do you ever listen to yourself
To any people from Chicago if you go to the shows like me, I realize they put moxely in that Roman reign’s position of the guy who main events and should win and we really couldn’t care for :(
What’s funny is Punk gets all the blame, but the elite are all petty and full of crap too and have done this nonsense before to other backstage peeps. So yeah Punk is wrong but I’d bet they all are.
Thanks for the breakdown. Spent the last 30 mins skimming through YT and everyone just assumes I know what went down. I have never watched punk. He is built like your average guy and I just don't care much for it. From what I heard on a different he exited WWE in a similar fashion. He just seems like a very unpleasant person. WWE is probably going to let him go soon.
I said it when CM Punk returned to wrestling and started with AEW. He will cause issues within AEW. It was only a matter of time before the honeymoon would be over. I wish I had taken a snapshot or could find that post.
Vince would have had this turned into a storyline. This is where AEW fails. Real beef between wrestlers can make some of the best rivalries, ESPECIALLY in the internet age nowadays where all the fans know everything about the wrestler’s personal lives
Almost two years later I think there is no controversy. Punk is a professional and AEW is kind of still an immaturely run company by amateurs trying to figure things out. I feel like Punk wanted AEW to be something more than it was while Tony and the elites just want a funhouse for their indy friends and there is nothing wrong with that. Not every company needs to be a publicly owned multi billion dollar enterprise to be considered successful. But also, not everyone is going to like that environment. Punk is where he belongs back on the big stage and AEW is doing what they do best which is straight wrestling for hardcore fans.
I mean.. it seems like the young bucks & Kenny omega are the real issue. Where is Cody Rhodes ? Didn’t he have the same issue with them EVP’s ?! I’m just saying 🤷🏾♀️
Cm Punk gave AEW his all .. great matches .. put many young wrestlers over .. he got many injuries for them and look how they treated him all of this over an old beef between him and colt cabana.. ridiculous
I honestly did not see the appeal of cm punk at all. He was old, beaten up, we saw him get his ass handed to him twice in the ufc killing any mystique of toughness, and the was never super athletic in the first place but we really saw the lack of athleticism in his match with hangman. Why have him?
Cm punk, with all his temper tantrums he throws, reminds me of the people you see getting arrested on the YT crime channels because they have never been told "NO". Punk, even during his time in WWE, had the bad habit of not shutting his big mouth....he has no issue with reigniting dumpster fires, and tries to instigate other wrestlers who have no vested interest in dealing with him, punk gets upset and lays into said wrestler even more, even if it damages his reputation and more importantly the company he is under contract with, he doesnt care until he gets his way. Theres two points during that presser, where Tony Khan attempts to divert the discussion and get back on track, and Punk would flat out interrupt Tony multiple times. Watch Tony Khans face when this occurs. Punk does not think about what he is going to say before he says it. I dont agree with Tonys decision to suspend the bucks and omega, but i do understand why he took this route, and it was to keep punk from opening his mouth. Cm punk has been released from AEW for not only attempting to fight another member of the lockeroom, but he also attacked Tony Khan...you know, cm punks boss. Punk probably thought it would make for a "austin vs mcmahon" storyline, but what he didnt seem to realize is that Tony Khan rarely appears in ring or during the shows unless it is to update fans or give talent who has passed away a 10 bell salute. Due to the above, i am starting to think that punk has been blacklisted from every promotion as they dont want to deal with his explisive anger, nor do they want to repeat what happened whem Punk hit Tony Khan.
The only “drama” going on is the wrestling nerd , podcasting community enjoying gossip like little school girls . Most of the people never played or aren’t good at sports . Especially contact sports . Yet these podcasters act like they know what a men’s locker room is like .
CM Punk is a cancer who’s had issues every place he’s worked and it’s always everyone else’s problem but reality is it’s him his ego he succeeded cause wwe moved to smaller guys after Benoit and that blew his ego up he’s a mid card guy with a superstar ego and it has caused drama everywhere. He starts trouble gets beat up does a interview then leaves and continues to bash. Repeat cycle. His return was cool and awesome crowd moment but other than that it’s been lame Wrestling is better without him.
Ok, let me say this, and I'll explain and elaborate, IN the wrestling business, and as a wrestler that doesn't drink or do drugs, it's very hard for a sober wrestler to work in a company when their sobriety is constantly being jeopardized!! Remember C.m Punk is a straight edge wrestler that doesn't drink or do drugs and that is one of my biggest reasons for having respect for Phil Brooks, because I was an independent wrestler and I use to drink, and when I became 11 years sober amd tried to get back in the independent scene it was extremely difficult and hard for me!! So I do not blame Phil Brooks aka C.m Punk for having issues with the locker room or backstage!! C.m Punk is still the best in the world at what he does period!!! The man is a natural talent and should not be treated poorly and the man is a human being and has every right to defend himself when it's necessary or if he feels the need to do so!!! Tony Kahn is in over his head and fired the wrong wrestler and Jack Perry should be ashamed of himself for what happened, because I know that Jack Perry's father Luke Perry would be extremely disappointed in Jack for what he did in London!! Jack Perry needs to pull his head out of his ass!! If Jack Perry wants to come at me then bring it, I'll fight Jack Perry anytime, anyplace and anywhere!! That's the bottom line because The Regulator said so!!
best in the world my TAINT when the drama in 2 different organizations supercede your ability......you will always be known for wearing John Cena's ghetto spinning bling belt, pipebomb, and being a diva thinking that you are better than you actually were.

Have stayed Things would look a lot different between him and tony kong's booking😢 If Cody Rhodes doesn't get what he wants in w.W.E He should swallow his pride and go back to the company that he started and worked things out with tony At some point in your life , you've got to turn heel I mean look at roman People despise roman as a the baby face And now since he turned hill the head of the table he have one heck of a title run Thanks to vince And the wise man paul hayman John cena never turned heel He refused to turn heel
Keep CM punk away from Seth Rollins! Make him face LA Knight!! Rollins is so boring nowadays, the WWE needs to realize that the fans all know exactly what we’re gonna get out of a Seth Rollins and CM punk feud, because we know exactly what we’re going to get in all of Seth Rollins’ matches. They’re going to kill off a lot of the energy around CM Punk return by putting him with the LEAST SURPRISING opponent, Rollins. They should grow some balls and have LA Knight confront CM punk. He doesn’t have a championship so it would keep Punk out of the title picture and elevate LA Knight even more. Seth Rollins needs to go on a hiatus.
I'm not saying AEW nor Omega/Young Bucks were entirely in the right but AEW, the company, did everything they could to welcome Punk as they gave him wins over big names & their world title. How much more could AEW as a company have done to welcome Punk but he kept: getting hurt, making unwarranted comments, getting into fights, & making things worse

wwe hasn't got anything right since the Batista era; wwe has just been throwing together mindless full of crap shows for the last 13 or more years; AEW has had a few glitches here and there but AEW is infinitely superior to that wrestling wasteland known as wwe

One day, Cm punk will say his part of his story.
And he did.
He did but it’s laughable, he’s a liar and Jericho was right about punk even tho not a big fan of him punk was a cancer
made punk feel like he didnt belong there no wonder hes happy to get out dat place
You forgot to add Bobby Fish kicking out the GTS, added more fuel to thr fire
I mean folks
I am not sure who is right, but i believe punk was frustrated because of these accusations
There are a few things I'd like to unpack here from listening to the video as well as some missing information not presented in the video. (Beware this may be a bit lengthy but feel free to enjoy the read)
1.) Great job @Sportskeeda Wrestling, most vids I see on this subject are completely biased towards whomever and this one was not.
I hope you won't, but I gave up on you doing what is right a long time ago."
Colt began looking for a new firm to represent him. Shortly later, Punk’s lawyers sent Colt the following,
“Despite your unwillingness to contribute to your legal fees, I am still prepared to represent you, and Phil is prepared to have me represent you and cover your legal fees going forward, as long as there is no conflict between you and Phil that prevents me from fairly and ethically representing you. “
What CM Punk meant by "Do the right thing" was associated with these 2 factors:
A.) Colt Cabana behind the scenes had been trying to inch his way back to WWE, he'd been seen at WWE events, seen eating with friends apart of the active roster despite supposedly being Punk's best friend and agreeing with him about WWE, the negativity they experienced while there etc and with a lawsuit on the table that his friend was footing the bill for.
Where the "Young Bucks" come into play is the run Punk and MJF were on was way too strong, it was making them look bad now if you are reading this, I know you are asking "How were they looking bad from MJF and Punk's success?"
if you are a fan of AEW reading this and have attended any recent events then you know full well AEW has been lying about their attendance and sales numbers for nearly 3 years up to this date, that all went out the window once Punk signed AND returned from injury and suspension, AEW had not been "Must see tv" since the 2019 year they launched and this is fact.
Giving talent a lot of leeway to "shoot" on each other can make for great storylines and TV. It can also backfire bigtime.
So Punk did win lol
@@DonJulio1942he won in spirit but not in writing lol

Cm punk is more of a great wrestler than any of the others other than John Moxley and Chris Jericho in that promotion but now that he is back at WWE he’s home
I don’t think colt cabanas ‘ friends ‘ had the right to interfere in the situation and harass Cm Punk the way they did because it’s none of their business and also it’s not professional.. imagine if two wrestlers had issues and one of them had many friends and they decided to gang up against that other wrestler.. and create such an uncomfortable situation for everyone.. For real I'm surprised to look at all these comments 🤣🤣🤣
They won't come back and even delete , too fucken embarrassed
I thought those words were the best to describe CM Punk himself.
I hope anyone who reads this comment will digest it for a moment before lashing out. This is coming from a longtime fan of Punk and a fan of the whole AEW product. So here goes:
I feel that the whole underlying issue in this is Punk may have some unchecked mental health concerns.
Which of his actions fit quite well?
Real talk; I'm approaching 40 and I have dealt with mental issues which is mostly because of a neglectful family I grew up with and I know exactly what you're talking about
On a side note, I thank God that I was able to overcome those mental issues
Honestly agree with you, been a long time fan of his and I see some of his bad behavior patterns. It is really concerning and I hope he is okay and receiving help.
How about now

Not really. He got over naturally in roh, which has a similar crowd to nxts old crowd. He would of been fine.
Thanks for the reply. However, I never blamed Punk for Cabana. I agree with you, it was Tony's decision. ✊
I just want to thank everyone that was involved because now we have cm punk back in wwe 😂
You should prom this video. It aged well since especially after the recent CM Punk interview

Cm punk being more accident prone like Daniel Bryan when he was wit WWE 😂
How did Constant Migraine Punk get lost in his hometown of Chicago?
and this video came out before wembley stadium controversy 😂😂jack and punk backstage
Need an update to this
I mean.. it seems like the young bucks & Kenny omega are the real issue. Where is Cody Rhodes ? Didn’t he have the same issue with them EVP’s ?! I’m just saying 🤷🏾♀️
Let’s say Punk did say he’d pay, even if he did this is all because Cabana couldn’t pay his own court fees like an adult?
Cm Punk gave AEW his all .. great matches .. put many young wrestlers over .. he got many injuries for them and look how they treated him all of this over an old beef between him and colt cabana.. ridiculous
I feel like this needs another update
9:16 nice try Vince McMahon
I honestly did not see the appeal of cm punk at all. He was old, beaten up, we saw him get his ass handed to him twice in the ufc killing any mystique of toughness, and the was never super athletic in the first place but we really saw the lack of athleticism in his match with hangman. Why have him?
Ufc and sports entertainment wrestling is too different things
Cuz he has good promos
MJF is the only good thing to watch in AEW
Now Edge and Christian
So hangman didn't go into business for himself first?
The only “drama” going on is the wrestling nerd , podcasting community enjoying gossip like little school girls . Most of the people never played or aren’t good at sports . Especially contact sports . Yet these podcasters act like they know what a men’s locker room is like .
Cody left AEW
Punk was fired from AEW
There is a difference.
His return was cool and awesome crowd moment but other than that it’s been lame
Wrestling is better without him.
Boy if this video isn't outdated already 😂😂
We know how it played out😅
Punk is doomed to fail wherever he goes
I agree with Chris Jericho - CM Punk seems like a locker room cancer
What you wrote made lot of sense Jack Perry was at he was a total asshole cm punk the veteran kicking the young wrestler's ass
Cm punk and his fans are hypocrites
