I learned about money being very poor in the past. It was the best lesson I had because it makes me never step down to that moment of my life again.
But through the years I have learned that money doesn’t give you happiness but comfort.
Lately I balance in between saving money and having good moments in my life, not talking about expensive travels etc, but staying with people I love. Time is priceless and in your last hours, many people regret not spending more time with your beloved ones than any other thing.
Money is good and important but don’t forget money doesn’t buy time.

    • @alexhonda6421
      @alexhonda6421 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Ah, I forgot to mention if there is something that I already regret in my life. Yes, I have.
I regret not having seen Linkin Park when Chester was alive. I had some opportunities but always postponed to go another day. After his death, I got very upset. This is just one example that all money in the world can’t bring me this moment that I’ve never had, so from that moment I always make time to the ones I care.

in a lot of jobs there do nothings that earn the same money or more than an actual qualified person, becaue they have relationships or because they are more stupid than the boss and the boss likes them for that, what is then the worth of money when there is not much meritocracy behind it

  • @Griffin519x

My main motivation is time not money. I need money and I want a good retirement but I’ve worked manual labor jobs working 8-12 hours with long commutes. It’s no fun being away from home for 14 hours then eat and go to bed and do it again the next day. So having time for myself and to spend with my friends/family is my main motivation for my career

    • @vlad-st
      @vlad-st ปีที่แล้ว +6

I think you may not understand that the most important thing you invest to make money is your time. You need to balance time for your family and your business. In most cases, to become rich, you need to invest less time in your family and more in your business. However, once you have money, you may find that you don't have as much time for your family, which can negatively impact your mental health. If you neglect your family in pursuit of wealth, you may find that your mental health suffers. Without the support and love of your family, your emotional and mental well-being can decline, leading to feelings of sadness and despair. It's important to remember that money is not everything. Some people who are poor but have time for their family are happier than others who are rich but whose family relationships are falling apart.

Yeah that’s true, but not always. Just because you have enough money to live and not work doesn’t mean you’re gonna be happy necessarily or have peace of mind. Immediate relationships matter a lot more for that

    New place?
    1. Make money, not save. It works from a certain stage. You could learn to code because you had a computer. If you didn't have it, you'd have to save up for it.
    2. $100,000 is an amount that could save many people's lives. That's how much an operation or an expensive medicine can cost. With some of that money, a homeless person could buy nice clothes and go to a job interview. Or set up his own vegetable stall. Sometimes these people don't need to learn new skills because they already have them. Just something bad had happen it their life.
    3. I would buy a house. Because that would be my place on earth. I could arrange it and take care of it. I would not hear from the owner that he is not extending the contract and I have to move out in 3 months. Not everything has to be an investment.
    4. Charities also spend money on building schools in Africa, hospices, pay for expensive rehabilitation for children, etc. Just check what the charity you donate is doing.
    5. I wouldn't brag if I were rich. It's not safe.
    6. Ok, I don't do it anyway
    7. Money (sometimes) helps solve problem with relationships. You can pay for therapy 😉

I was lucky enough to have 2 years were I was making a lot of money and I'm glad I had that experience, I basically found out that I don't really like money, I never knew what to buy. I would get excited about buying something just to find out that I was more excited about buying it than actually using it. I figured I really have everything in my computer, never been materialistic, it's cool if people like the grind of making money but I much rather just relax and make enough just to pay my upkeep and have a couple hundred for bs. I rather have my time for myself.

Here is the problem with being a multi millionaire which maybe you can explain sometime.
I am totally paranoid of losing it or having it get deflated over time.
I can't even sleep at night worrying about it. Yet, I have it invested in nothing because I am too afraid of doing anything with it. So just doing nothing with it means I am devalueing my money every day.
At the same time, I feel like unless I have 10 million I cannot be comfortable. I feel at 10 million I could have a couple million to erode or spend for something and still feel secure.
If I make any mistakes now and lose the money, I will never be able to get such money again. So what do people like me do.

If your problem is real, you should open a business and help others earn money. It's tragic that you worry about it at night. Build homes for people who need a home. Help others learn what you know about money. Worry far more about your soul. There are parables in the Bible for your problems.

Im not too worried about it. I heard from people alot richer than me theres times to make money and times not to make money. Right now, last i checked, its still time not to make money. Inflation is a pain. and it sounds like a therapist would solve that issue more than a financial advisor. Its just not a problem Im having so can give no sure way to solve it. Perhaps learn a new skill so you feel better prepared in case money goes to zero. For me Economic stagnation and inflationary pressure I just chalk up to malthusianism and cope with it pretty good and call it a day.

His point is that your life doesn't change when you use that $100k as a down payment on a home.
There's no difference. On Monday you lived in a house. On Tuesday you make a down payment... and live in a house.

I grew up in a dumpster with a roommate called mom who never left the couch, and a little sister we agreed “had no conscience.” I ended up being what I ended up resonating with as “intense” with money. I don’t like to spend it, unless I need to spend it. Might as well have fun with it at that point right? I worked backbreaking labor for FedEx ground (quite literally) and managed to save up to my goal of 10k and just barely. I kind of broke in the process and got basically bribed out of trying to do anything about it (I WAS but their doctor was obviously in on something- “losing” my X-ray.) Anyway. I can’t stand money. I’m loving the 1950s housewife lifestyle and have never been happier. I do need to find a job as soon as my old dog kicks the bucket 😭 cos he’s my family-!! I lost my mind almost losing him before his diabetes diagnosis. All of my money since has gone to him (and my marijuana vice.)

Patrick, you're making a lot of excuses for not taking your sub's on a full day catamaran cruise, with food. We made your lifestyle possible, so we deserve it.

    good video.
Have to add to the examples.. ..if it was the only one you would ever own.
What car/clock etc would you buy.. if it was the only one you ever would own.
Wouldn’t be the showoff car that easily breaks.. would it?

I spent a few years around millionaires often and their are not the interesting. The rust belt school of business in Chicago 1950 started a trend. All you need in 1960 is about 100k to have today's purchasing parity as millionaire.

I've been frugal my whole life (except for a stupid car I bought).
A few years ago, I retired at the age of 57. Now I live a happy life 🤑

I think saving money on individual items doesn’t move the needle yes, but when viewed collectively-say 1/3 reduction in annual spend-it makes a big difference in the amount needed for retirement, esp an early one where compounding is in effect. Esp true if projecting conservative equities returns (reasonable and good practice after decades long zirp run)
Now obv it’s better to just become good at making more money then none of this matters. But the dad does have a point on a broader level.

It's about where your heart is towards money. "Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed. 1 Timothy 6:17-18. This saith the Lord.

I learned 2 lessons the hard way.
1: never loan money to a relative
2: If there is something that you need, research it and then save to pay cash for it .
I once bought an item for an even 10k. 4 years of payments and i paid 14250 for the 10k i borrowed. If i had cash i could have gotten it for maybe 9k. That was the last time i financed anything.
