I was diagnosed with Central Sleep Apnea in 2012 as a 51 year old after discovering I had severe heart, neurological, and vision problems. I am female. Immediately I was put on an ASV that changed my life. Oxygen was added a year later, so I sleep with the oxygen concentrator set on 2 and the ASV any time I sleep or nap and feel like a new person. I was waking up 97 times an hour, every hour I slept. Now with the ASV and oxygen it is 3 or 4 times per hour. I feel better than I ever have in my life and am now 60. Modern medicine is a gift to the world. 🏆
My apneas are 99-107 times an hour, Central Sleep Apnea being primary which seems totally impossible to me. I was diagnosed at age 50 after pushing for a sleep study & ultimately telling the 3rd doctor I'm willing to change doctors again because I know I have a problem. As a 5'2 120 lb woman they simply refused to believe I had a problem & I was diagnosed as hypochondriac. The 3rd doctor made me wait 2.5 months to see the new doctor coming into town because in her words "he's also a psychiatrist." After diagnosis, where they actually called me within 4 hours of me leaving the clinic with an appointment in 2 hours, rather than having me wait until the next week, she congratulated herself for sending me. 😲😡 It's 23 years later & I'm still trying to get an ASV & oxygen, rather than a CPAP or Bi-pap machine. It's discouraging spending so much of my life either exhausted or 'sleeping.' I put sleeping in quotes because in fact I'm more awake than asleep. It affects all aspects of my life, financially possibly being the most impactful one as it keeps me on the brink of poverty. Please pray & send good vibes that the doctor at my upcoming November 22nd, 2022 appointment will prescribe the best treatment for me. I'm also highly allergic to metals, including medical staples, pins, & titanium plates so the procedure where they implant a device in your brain would not only not work for me but probably would kill me as I developed Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome within hours of having three temporary pins put in my broken wrist. It took me changing doctors to have that diagnosed also as the surgeon would only say "of course you're in pain, you just had surgery." I've avoided needing to be on gabapentin for the rest of my life because I was fortunate to be told by people I trusted, that if I quit gluten immediately, I would not have symptoms. I was amazed when a couple years later The gluten in a 1-in square 1/8 of an inch thick piece of birthday cake set off my pain. It took me almost 5 months to recover from that. ☮️🙏🏼💞
My first (last) sleep study was in 1999 & I had to pressure/beg for another study that I'm getting tonight, 11/22/22. 99-107 episodes of primarily Central apnea. I'm fed up with the doctors in my area & am probably getting less than optimal care because my only insurance is medicare. And that's because I had to stop working full time at a job I loved at the age of 50 because of the apnea, brain tumor, hashimoto thyroid, & a neck/back injury. I'm allergic to metals so an implant is out. My fingers are crossed, prayers said that tonight's sleep study brings a better solution.
I was recently diagnosed with central and obstructive (mostly central) sleep apnea. I was exhausted every day but, it was the headaches that got me in to see my doctor. I was waking up multiple times a night with absolutely horrendous headaches! Did both a home and in-lab sleep study. Turns out I was having 107 episodes per hour and my lowest oxygen level during sleep lab study was 66. Apparently, it never got above 82. So now, I'm trying to get used to my ASV machine. It's been a month now. Last night and the night before were the first times I was able to sleep through the night with my mask. Oh man, does it feel good to actually sleep!! Turns out, I had severe central and obstructive apnea and was extremely hypoxic. Damn! Good thing I got checked out!! My "events" are now down to 3-8 per hour. It varies. But, far better than 107!! Mine also has oxygen added.
I wake up gasping for breath and an intense heart beat. My wife tells me that periodically she can tell that I'm not breathing during non-sleeping hours.
My story is rather long. I've had obstructed sleep apnea for 4-5 yrs. used my CPAP religiously. Dec 2, 2022, I had ACF W/plates, screws, and bone donation. That's when things got worse. I kept reporting reporting I was constantly waking up during the night. Surgeon kept saying " everything is fine and in line". Finally after 6 month check up with the surgeon, I decided to check with my pulmonologist to see if my settings need to go higher. This was done. I was so restless, I was keeping my wife up, so I bought a second CPAP machine for our spare bedroom. I had also bought a monitor that measures O2 levels continuously through the night. This showed I was going down to the 70s. Insurance wouldn't approve oxygen because I bought the monitor on line. So I eventually got a home test done and I have O2 at 2 liters. Still restless, getting a total of 3 hrs of rest a night. No REM since surgery. I bought a second concentrator on line for spare bedroom. Friday 10-11-2024 went to a ENT surgeon. She did the scope down the nose ->no blockage and trachea working correctly. She listened to my s/s and she said " I'm sending a note and the video I just did to your pulmonologist. I think you have Central Sleep Apnea.' that is where I am now. Hope you respond back
I also have it for a session of 2 weeks and then it goes away. I found a very weird solution: I eat half garlic and get back to bed. Then, the apnea is gone. I know it sounds very weird, but it's the only thing that helps me immediately. So I wanted to share it with you.
This turned out to be a commercial for this implantrable device. I think that I'll stick to my ASV pap machine. I went from severe Central, obstructive and Cheyne Stokes to ZERO Apneas the last two nights.

things you can try is fix the brain and nervous system. taking 500 mg Omega 3 fish oil twice a day and taking RNA capsules. both help with brain and neurological function.

I have been taking a prescription in the morning, 1st they tried Ritalin and now I am taking a generic brand to help keep me awake or alert during the day. I still can sleep all day long if I sit down or relax. By the end of the day I am physically and mentally exhausted.
Same here Mike
things you can try is fix the brain and nervous system. taking 500 mg Omega 3 fish oil twice a day and taking RNA capsules. both help with brain and neurological function.
@@1peanut has it helped with your apnea ?
Does anyone else with CSA find themselves having yawning spells that last for hours? Or had a spell of hiccups that lasted days?
Thanks for a fascinating video on this subject.
I have been aware of having sleep apnoea for over 2 decades now, but I notice its effects much more severely if I sleep during the day.
I wonder if anyone else experiences this ? I have never been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, as I have never heard of anyone else like me who is severely affected during daytime sleeping.
I was just diagnosed with csa. If I sleep during the day it makes me feel horrible! Way way worse. It's weird.
@@nathancopper1472 Thanks Nathan. I’ll look into CSA.

Riiiight. Ten minutes with this guy giving every complicated detail. Should have edited him out.
My sleep apneea get's worse right before and during rain and high humidity.does anyone else have that? Im 35 years old.😢
I was just diagnosed with this a few weeks ago and just started to use my cpap for the first time last night..I hate it
I have been using the bipac for 4 years, it gets easier.
I have been struggling for the past year. I wish you luck. Hope we both can solve this issue!
No REM.
Try stretching your Psoas muscle if you have central sleep apnea.
Damn, what was Mike about to share
did u not watch the entire vid?
Raising money to raise money 💰
I find you say you know too often maybe try to do a little mark on a page every time you say it. I know it's a habit images use hm
This lady's not saying anything about all the other symptoms CSA causes. What about prowses when you're trying to wake up or how about gonna a sleep wake attack you know like almost like a sleep Walker, you can be driving and all of a Sudden you become aware you don't know how got to where are.
If anyone suffering from apnea is reading this comment, say hi, i have important question to ask
Can't understnd what the lady is saying. Her voice sounds muffled. I mean the older lady who speaks.
Colossal waste of time. 4x in intro about how excited they are to do video. Long stories. Could all be done in 10 minutes.
How can you order CPAP without knowing what kind of apnea a person has? Talk about practicing blindly! And treating people like cattle.
Skip the long old guy story in the beginning.
